1.INSTALLATION
For installing the “Mediasite Desktop Recorder” please log in to the
mediasite. Please follow the steps below:
1. Go to: http://collegerama.tudelft.nl/mediasite/mymediasite
2. Log in with your username and password
3. (see figure 1)
Once you logged in, you will be directed to the homepage of mediasite
(see figure 2). Here you can download the “Mediasite Desktop Recorder”
software.
1. Click the button “Download the Desktop Recorder” in the left
bottom corner of your screen.
You now will be directed to the download page for the desktop recorder
software. This page shows three steps (see figure 3).
1. Download the “Mediasite Desktop Recorder” by clicking the button
“Download Desktop Recorder for Windows/MAC”.
2. Finish the installation wizard
3. Once the software is installed, please click at the button “Register
Mediasite Desktop Recorder”

Congratulations, “Mediasite Desktop Recorder” is successfully installed
on your computer. Ready to record!

2.1 RECORDING:
STARTUP
Open the “Mediasite Desktop Recorder” and open the following link in
your Internet browser: http://collegerama.tudelft.nl/mediasite/
mymediasite

Sign in on “Mediasite Desktop Recorder” (see figure 4 and 5)
Log in on mediasite (see first step of “installation”)
Go to: http://collegerama.tudelft.nl/mediasite/mymediasite
Log in with your username and password
(see figure 1)
Once the page is completely loaded, at the left side of the screen a folder
structure will appear. Use this to organise your videos. (See figure 6,
orange box)

2.2 RECORDING:
NEW PRESENTATION
Go to your Internet browser to configure the right location for the recording. Here the recording will be saved once finished.
1. Click at the folder to which you like to upload your recording.
2. Next, click at the button “Create Presentation”.

At the right of your screen a menu will appear. There you will see several
options. Please choose for “Record Desktop”. (see figure 8)
Please fill in the details of the recording (see figure 9). These are: the
name of the presentation and a short description. You can also change
the folder here. Next, click on “Launch Desktop Recorder”

Now, the desktop recorder will be launched. In the meantime you will
be directed to the page as is shown in figure 10 in your browser. Please
leave the page as it is.
After you have clicked on “Launch Desktop Recorder” the desktop recorder will be launched with a request to begin a new recording. Please
“Accept”. (see figure 11)
You can now choose out of three options (see figure 12). These are:
1. Upload Existing;
Choose an existing recording to upload
2. Record Now;
Record this presentation now
3. Save and Quit;
Save this recording for later and quit the application

Now you are five steps away from the actual recording.

2.3 RECORDING:
RECORDING PROCES
Step 1
In step 1 you can select the type of recording (see figure 13):
1. Screencast + Audio;
Present your computer desktop as video with microphone input. Most suitable when you have animated slides, videos or write.
2. Slideshow + Audio;
Present still images from your computer desktop with microphone input. PLEASE REMEMBER: Slides will be stored separately from the audio file (not suitable for YouTube).
3. Slideshow + Video;
Present still images from your computer desktop with camera and microphone input. PLEASE REMEMBER: Slides will be stored
separately from the video file (not suitable for YouTube).

Please select the type of recording which suites your purpose best and
click “Next”.
Step 2
Step 2 (see figure 14) of the recording process is the installation of your
hardware; this is your camera and microphone.
1. Please select the right camera size (preferred: Large,
minimal: Medium) and input.
2. Select the right microphone input.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Check if the camera and microphone function correctly. Use the indicators. All functioning correctly? Please click “Next”.

Step 3
Step three (see figure 15) is a reminder to have all needed materials for
recording ready. Think of your PowerPoint or YouTube videos.

Once ready, please click “Next”.
Step 4
In step 4 you select which region of your screen will be captured in the
recording (see figure 16). This is for instance the region where the PowerPoint is displayed.

Please use the instructions as displayed in the orange box of figure 16.
To illustrate: the light grey area in in figure 17 will be recorded.

Step 5
Step 5 is the last step in the recording process and gives a summary of
the recording configuration. Once you are ready to record, please click on
“Record”. (see figure 18).
Please notice console – as displayed below – is opened. Use this console
during the recording: (see figure 19)

After you pressed “Record” the actual recording will start in 5 seconds.

Please notice that the status in the console has changed: (see figure 21)

At the very end of your presentation please click “Finish” in the recording
console to stop recording. Your recording will be uploaded the choose
directory automatically. (See figure 22)

PLEASE REMEMBER: To upload automatically you should be connected
to the Internet.
In your Internet browser your recording will appear in the chosen
directory. (see figure 23).
The server needs some time to process the
presentation. Please wait before continuing.

2.4 RECORDING:
UPLOAD OWN MEDIA

Go to your Internet browser to configure the right location for the recording. Here the recording will be saved once finished.
1. Click at the folder to which you like to upload your recording.
2. Next, click at the button “Create Presentation”.

At the right of your screen a menu will appear. There you will see several
options. Please choose for “Upload Media”. (see figure 27)

In the next screen (see figure 28) you need to fill in the details of your
upload. These are: the name of the presentation, a short description, the
folder in which the upload will be placed. Next, click on “Select files from
your computer”. (These are media files not made by MyCollegerama.) Select the file and click “Open”. A notification will indicate when the upload
is completed. The uploaded video can be found in the earlier selected
folder.

In chapter 3 we will guide you through the proces of finishing your presentation.

3. FINISHING THE PRESENTATION
Now it is important to finish the presentation. Click on the presentation
to (see figure 24):

Watch you recording;
Share you recording;
Edit your recording;
Or delete your recording.
Go to “Edit” and fill in the following fields (see figure 25):

1. Name:
The title of your presentation.
2. Folder:
Check if your presentation is located in the right folder.
3. Presenter:
Delete the “Default Presenter” by clicking on the “x”.
Please fill in your own name. When your name is not recognised, click “Add new”.
a. First name: Initials + Inserts (A.B. van der)
b. Last name: Last name (AA)

4. Tags:
In the tag field you can fill in some keywords to describe your presentation. This will enhance the findabillity of your presentation.

5. Status:
a. “Viewable”; the presentation is available for viewing
b. “Offline” means that nobody can view the presentation
c. “Schedule” will delete the content of the presentation (the meta-da
ta will be preserved)
6. Player:
a. Fullscreen player: DUT, Collegerama
b. Embedded player video + slides:
Collegerama, Embedded slide+video
c. Embedded player video-only: Collegerama, Embedded video-only
Congratulations, your presentation is recorded and has been uploaded to
the Mediasite server. Ready to be shared with the world!

3.1 SHARING THE LINK
Via the tab “Share” it is possible to share your presentation with the rest
of the world.

1. Link:
You can copy the URL on a webpage, send it via email or share it via social media.
2. Embed:
Via “embed” it is possible to embed the presentation directly in a webpage. You need to use one of the embedded players (see point 6 on page
13) as shown below.

Embedded player video-only: Collegerama, Embedded video-only
You can change the width and height, shown in red, of the embedded
player to accomodate your webpage layout.

3. E-mail:
You can send an email by filling in the to field and in the body field you
can enter a message. The email will be send with your emailadres as
sender.
