The VersaFlash Starter Kit contains the accessories necessary to get started using the
extended features of the VersaFlash system allowing you to complete both basic as well as
more sophisticated purification schemes.
The VersaFlash Starter Kit contains the accessories necessary to get started using the
extended features of the VersaFlash system allowing you to complete both basic as well as
more sophisticated purification schemes.
The VersaFlash Starter Kit consists of:
● Cartridge Stacking Connector (40 x 40mm) – used to stack 40mm cartridges in series,
allowing you to expand the separation capacity using standard cartridges, or to mix
different cartridge chemistries giving you bi-modal separation capabilities.
● Solvent Flush Connector – used to flush solvents through the system when changing to
a new solvent or to purge solvent from the system.
● Solid Sample Cartridges (3 small, 3 large) – used to pre-load low solubility samples.
● 1/8” tubing (10’) – used to connect the solvent reservoir to the pump.
● Nuts/ferrules(5 each) are supplied as replacement parts to connect the tubing to the
VersaFlash station as necessary.

Instructions for Cartridge Stacking
Cartridges may be stacked one on top of another and used in series, thereby expanding
capacity and/or allowing the use of different phase chemistries to perform bi-modal
simultaneous purifications.
a) With the handle in the idle position and pushed in, place a VersaPakTM cartridge on the
Lower Platen in the VersaFlash high throughput flash purification station.
b) Place the cartridge stacking assembly sleeve over the cartridge. Then place the stacking
connector on top of the outlet end-fitting of the cartridge. The stacking connector will fit
inside the connector sleeve.
c) Place a second VersaPak cartridge into the cartridge stacking assembly sleeve and press
down so that the stacking connector seats securely between the two cartridges.
d) With the handle in the idle position and pushed in, adjust the level of the Upper Platen
using the Securing Knob. Align the outlet hole of the VersaPak cartridge with the PEEK
luer seal of the Upper Platen and tighten the securing knob. Turn the handle clockwise
approximately 180 degrees to the operate position. The stacked VersaPak cartridges are
now ready for operation.
NOTE: It is not critical that the handle be turned completely to the operate position.
Depending on where the upper platen is set will dictate how far you are able to turn the handle.
Do not use excessive force in turning the handle to the operate position.
Instructions for Cartridge Stacking

Lower Platen in the VersaFlash high throughput flash purification station.
b) Place the cartridge stacking assembly sleeve over the cartridge. Then place the stacking
connector on top of the outlet end-fitting of the cartridge. The stacking connector will fit
inside the connector sleeve.
c) Place a second VersaPak cartridge into the cartridge stacking assembly sleeve and press
down so that the stacking connector seats securely between the two cartridges.
d) With the handle in the idle position and pushed in, adjust the level of the Upper Platen
using the Securing Knob. Align the outlet hole of the VersaPak cartridge with the PEEK
luer seal of the Upper Platen and tighten the securing knob. Turn the handle clockwise
approximately 180 degrees to the operate position. The stacked VersaPak cartridges are
now ready for operation.
NOTE: It is not critical that the handle be turned completely to the operate position.
Depending on where the upper platen is set will dictate how far you are able to turn the handle.
Do not use excessive force in turning the handle to the operate position.
Installing the Solvent Flush Connector
a) Turn the handle to the idle position and leave it pushed in.
b) Place the Solvent Flush Connector in the station, loosen the Securing Knob and adjust
the Upper Platen so that it is resting on the top of the connector and re-tighten the securing
knob to lock the Upper Platen in place.
c) By turning the handle to the operate position, a seal is created between the platens and
the connector, allowing solvent to flow freely through the system.
Installing the Solvent Flush Connector
a) Turn the handle to the idle position and leave it pushed in.
b) Place the Solvent Flush Connector in the station, loosen the Securing Knob and adjust
the Upper Platen so that it is resting on the top of the connector and re-tighten the securing
knob to lock the Upper Platen in place.
c) By turning the handle to the operate position, a seal is created between the platens and
the connector, allowing solvent to flow freely through the system.
