VNS2200 Based Intercom – Quick User Guide
VNS2200 Setup
1. Connect the provided flexible rubber antenna to the BNC connector at the top of the VNS2200.
2. Connect the Intercom Wall Plate (VNS2261 or VNS2263) to the Intercom Station port of the VNS2200 and twist on the cable
lock to secure the wall plate connection.
3. Connect the power supply to the Power port of the VNS2200 and twist on the cable lock to secure the power connection.
4. Connect the speaker to the Speakers port of the VNS2200 and twist on the cable lock to secure the speaker connection.
5. Locate the VNS2200 at least 10 feet away from the VS4800 system to avoid audio feedback.
Initiating Intercom Session from the VS4800
1. Determine the type of wireless device to be activated and identify its number. The device number can be identified by the last 3
digits of its capcode (see label on back of each VNS2200).
2. Press 1 from the Main Menu.
3. Enter the device number of the intercom station (501-502) you wish to access.
4. The person at the intercom station is required to press the button on the intercom wall plate and answer the intercom call from
the system.
5. When Intercom Mode is displayed at the bottom left of the VS4800 display, press the PTT button of the system’s microphone
and start speaking.
6. The person at the intercom station is required to press the button on the intercom wall plate and talk into the wall plate to talk
back and be heard at the system.
Note: The VNS2263 option also supports Auto-Answer and Hands-Free and feature. When this feature is activated, the person at
the intercom station is not required to press the button on the intercom wall plate to answer the system’s call and talk back to
the system. In addition, the caller at the system is able to monitor the audio in the area where the VNS2200 is installed.
7. To terminate the session, press the ESC on the VS4800 twice.
Note: If the VNS2263 is set to Hands-Free operation, the intercom session can also be terminated by pressing the button on the
intercom wall plate.
Initiating Intercom Session from the Wall Station (VNS2261 or VNS2263)
1. Press the button on the intercom wall plate.
2. At the VS4800, the screen should display “INCOMING INTERCOM MESSAGE FROM DEVICE 501”. Press the Y key on the VS4800
to accept the call.
3. The person at the VS4800 should pick up the microphone, press the PTT button, and start speaking.
4. The person at the intercom station is required to press the button on the intercom wall plate and talk into the wall plate to be
heard at the system
Note: The VNS2263 option also supports Auto-Answer and Hands-Free and feature. When these features are activated, the
person at the intercom station is not required to press the button on the intercom wall plate to answer the system’s call and talk
back to the system. In addition, the caller at the system is able to monitor the audio in the area where the VNS2200 is installed.
5. The intercom session can be terminated from the VS4800 by pressing the ESC on the VS4800 twice.
Note: If the VNS2263 is set to Hands-Free operation, the intercom session can also be terminated by pressing the button on the
intercom wall plate.
