Taking Part
1. Choose someone you know with learning difficulties.
Pick one of the following activities which they
would enjoy doing 






Vacuuming the lounge
selecting items in the supermarket
watering all the house plants
loading the dishwasher
Mowing the garden
Washing up
Feeding their pet
2. Write down the sequence of tasks which need to be done to complete
the activity. Leave the 3 columns on the right blank for now.
Example of making a cup of tea
Start the Activity
Lift the kettle off the base
Open the lid
Hold under the cold tap
Turn the tap on
Fill the kettle until the water
comes up to the red mark on the
gauge at the front of the kettle
Turn the tap off
Put the kettle back on it’s base
Check that the kettle is switched
on at the wall
Turn the kettle on
Take a cup out of the cupboard
Take out a tea bag from the jar
behind the kettle
Put the tea bag in the cup
Wait until the kettle switches off
Pour the water into the cup up to
the mark on the mug

Put the kettle back on the base
Get a teaspoon from the drawer
below the kettle
Stir the tea
Take the tea bag out of the cup,
with the teaspoon, put it in the
bin
Get milk from the fridge
Pour in the amount of milk you
like
Stir the tea
Put the milk back in the fridge

kettle by pointing to the
mark and nodding

at the plug by asking ‘is
it switched on?’

Take out a tea bag

Place the tea bag in
the cup

Stir the tea
Take the tea bag out
of the cup with the
teaspoon and put in
the bin
Get milk from the
fridge
Pour in the amount of

Stir the tea
Put the milk back in the
fridge

boiled
Pour the water in
but show Anita
what you are
doing and where
you are pouring
the water to. Pass
the kettle to Anisa


