Interceptor Accelerator Controller Interceptor Controller MAP Harness Connector MAP Sensor Connector Intake Air Temp Sensor Connector Cam Harness Connector Cam Sensor Connector Intake Air Temp Harness Connector Pedal Sensor Connector Pedal Harness Connector Step-By-Step Installation Instructions Hypertech’s new product, the Interceptor, is a smart technology design that works with today’s generation of complex engine computers. The Interceptor easily mounts under the hood of a vehicle and plugs into the factory connectors to constantly monitor the vehicle’s functions. It then automatically recalculates the factory’s computer performance calibrations with legendary Hypertech Power Tuning. This means more horsepower and torque, quicker acceleration, better driveability, and improved MPG. Underhood sensor locations for installing the Hypertech™ Interceptor ™ MAP Sensor The Interceptor Controller easily installs under the hood in about fifteen (15) minutes. The Interceptor Accelerator Pedal Controller installs in the vehicle’s interior on the driver’s side above the accelerator pedal in about (15) minutes. Intake Air Temp Sensor* Cam Sensor BEFORE installing the Hypertech Interceptor: Make sure the vehicle engine and ignition is turned OFF prior to beginning the installation. * NOTE: Tools needed for Interceptor installation: • Flashlight • Flathead screwdriver (Ram Trucks/Dodge SUVs ONLY) • 8mm socket and ratchet (Ram Trucks/Dodge SUVs ONLY) Sensor locations may vary slightly depending on the application. Installing the Hypertech Interceptor Controller Connecting the Cam Sensor Cam Sensor Locate fuse box in the engine compartment on the passenger side. Press the locking tabs to disengage fuse box and lift up to expose empty compartment. Route the Interceptor wire to the cam sensor. Disconnect the factory harness from the cam sensor. Vehicle Cam Sensor Interceptor Cam Sensor Connector Interceptor Controller Plug the Interceptor cam sensor connector into the vehicle cam sensor. Place Interceptor Controller on its side in the compartment. Then re-install the fuse box back to its original location. Interceptor Harness Connector Before proceeding to the next three (3) installation sections, lay out the Interceptor harness in the general areas of the sensor locations as shown in the engine compartment photo on page 1. Factory Cam Sensor Wiring Harness Connector Plug the Interceptor harness connector into the factory cam sensor wiring harness connector. NOTE: Ensure that the Interceptor harness and all connectors are clear from moving and/or rotating parts of the engine as well as any extreme heat sources. 2 Connecting the MAP Sensor Connecting the MAP Sensor (Cont’d) Factory MAP Wiring Harness Connector Interceptor Harness Connector Lift off the engine cover (passenger side on SRT-8). NOTE for Ram Truck Specific: Disconnect the Intake Air Temp sensor. Then, using a flathead screwdriver or 8mm socket, loosen the clamp at the throttle body and lift the intake hose out of the way. Then remove the engine cover. Fuel Injector Harness Plug the Interceptor harness connector into the factory MAP wiring harness connector, and push in the locking clip. NOTE for Ram Truck Specific: Reposition the intake hose and use an 8mm socket to tighten the clamp at the throttle body. NOTE: Ensure that the Interceptor harness and all connectors are clear from moving and/or rotating parts of the engine as well as any extreme heat sources. Connecting the Intake Air Temp Sensor Interceptor MAP Sensor Wire To Vehicle Intake Air Temp Sensor Route the Interceptor MAP sensor harness under the fuel injector harness to the MAP sensor. Disconnect the factory connector from the MAP sensor. This connector has a locking clip that must be slid back to unlock. Then, squeeze down the locking tab, and push the connector in slightly (toward sensor) and then remove. Route the Interceptor wire to vehicle intake air temp sensor. Disconnect the factory harness from the Intake air temp sensor. Vehicle Intake Air Temp Sensor Vehicle MAP Sensor Interceptor MAP Sensor Connector 3 Plug the Interceptor MAP sensor connector into the vehicle MAP sensor. Interceptor Intake Air Temp Connector Plug the Interceptor intake air temp sensor connector into the vehicle intake air temp sensor. Connecting the Intake Air Temp Sensor (Cont’d) Interceptor Harness Connector Connecting the Interceptor Accelerator Controller (Cont’d) Factory Accelerator Pedal Sensor Connector Factory Intake Air Temp Sensor Wiring Harness Connector Plug the Interceptor harness connector into the factory intake air temp sensor wiring harness connector. NOTE: Ensure that the Interceptor harness and all connectors are clear from moving and/or rotating parts of the engine as well as any extreme heat sources. Connecting the Interceptor Accelerator Controller Interceptor Accelerator Pedal Harness Connector Plug the Interceptor accelerator pedal harness connector into the vehicle’s factory accelerator pedal sensor connector. Tuck the Interceptor accelerator controller behind the carpet and out of the way. You may secure it using a zip tie. Installation is now complete! You are now ready to enjoy more power and performance with the Hypertech Interceptor! Factory Accelerator Harness Connector (Behind Carpet) Using a flashlight, locate the factory accelerator harness connector under the driver’s dashboard and above the accelerator pedal. Push the carpeted compartment cover out of the way so you can disconnect the factory harness from the accelerator pedal sensor. Interceptor Accelerator Pedal Sensor Connector Factory Accelerator Pedal Sensor Plug the Interceptor accelerator pedal sensor connector into the factory accelerator pedal sensor. 30-Day Risk-Free, Money Back Guarantee The 30-day money back guarantee applies to the Interceptor, Max Energy Power Programmer, E-CON Economy Power Programmer, and the Speedometer Calibrator.
