Product
The battery module for FGC313/323 is a supervision and high efficiency Li-Ion battery
backup unit intended for mounting inside the FGC. With a battery module installed, the
FGC can register, communicate and log alarms even if the main power fails.

Storage:
The maximum capacity of Li-Ion batteries will steadily decay over time, making prolonged
storage of reserve units impractical.
Important notes on storage!
The battery module should be stored in a cool, dark place.
In order to minimize battery decay during storage, the battery pack may be removed from
the module, placed in a sealed plastic bag and refrigerated. Do not refrigerate the whole
unit!
The maximum capacity of depleted Li-Ion batteries will decay even faster. It is therefore
important that depleted batteries are immediately recharged. Depleted batteries must
never be put in storage!
Electrical Hazard:
All electrical installation work must be carried out with the equipment disconnected from
the power supply.
WARNING:
Batteries may explode if subjected to open flame.
Do not use the battery module in an area where a potentially explosive atmosphere exists.
Do not expose the battery module to temperatures above +60° C.
Do not use the battery module or the battery pack for any purpose or in any application,
other than the one described in the product documentation.
Do not disassemble the battery pack.
The battery pack may only be exchanged for an original Flygt replacement pack.
Check local regulations for disposal of batteries, electrical and electronic equipment; The
discarded battery module shall be left at an appropriate point for recycling electrical and
electronic equipment.

Installation instruction
Electrical Hazard: All electrical installation work must be carried out with the equipment
disconnected from the power supply.
1. Switch off the mains power for the FGC.
2. Loosen the four screws holding the front lid of the FGC.
3. Remove the front lid.
NOTICE:
Risk of apparatus or component damage - reversing the polarity by incorrectly
connecting the battery module will result in a short circuit in the FGC.
4. Before proceeding with the installation of the battery module, look at the underside
of the battery module and compare with Figure 1: (page 4); Make sure that the
gray flat cable is connected exactly as shown in the illustration! Notice the orientation
of the red stripe!

5. Remove the three spacers from the battery module; See Figure 1: (page 4).

6. Mount the three spacers in the upper right corner of the FGC; See Figure 2: (page
5).

7. Make sure that the 4-pole battery cable is disconnected from the battery module;
See Figure 3: (page 5).

8. Push the flat cable over the corresponding red battery backup connector inside the
FGC. The red stripe along the edge of the gray flat cable and the position pin on the
connector, shall be oriented towards the display connector; See Figure 4: (page
6).

9. Position the battery module so that the three spacers in the FGC are aligned with the
corresponding holes in the module. Gently push the module down until the spacers
snap into the holes; See Figure 6: (page 7).

10. Connect the 4-pole cable from the battery to the connector on the battery module
board; See Figure 7: (page 7).

Electrical Hazard:
Do not touch anywhere inside the FGC, nor give anyone else opportunity to do so, while
the mains power is switched on.
11. Switch on the mains power for the FGC. The green LED on the battery module
should start blinking within 30 seconds, indicating that the battery module is
charging and is correctly installed; See Figure 6: (page 7).
If the LED does not start blinking, switch off the mains power immediately and recheck the connection!
12. Attach the FGC front lid.
13. Fasten the four screws for holding the front lid, to complete the installation.

User instructions
When the battery module is installed, it will back up the FGC and supply power to the unit.
The battery module is automated to ensure that the battery is always fully charged and
ready to supply the FGC, if a power failure should occur.

The green LED indicates what mode the battery module is operating in:
LED light on
Unit is running on battery.
LED blinking
Battery is charging.
LED light off
Unit is off.
Note! The unit will switch off if the battery is depleted or if the temperature is too high or
too low for the unit to operate.
