Product Overview
The VESDA display modules, which provide real-time
indication of device status, contain the following:





One (1) [20-segment] vertical bar graph display
One (1) [two-digit] numeric display
One (1) audible sounder
One (1) clear alarm
Multiple fault indicators
Each display module can be mounted into one (1)
detector unit; one (1) remote mounting box, or one
(1) 19-inch sub rack. Several displays can be
configured to display information from a single
detector in multiple locations.
Specifications
Each VESDA display module varies, due to relayconfiguration requirements and detector types. For
example, the LaserSCANNER display has a fourth
mode for the numerical display, which shows the
First Alarm Sector (FAS). The FAS indicates the
number of the sector (pipe) that has detected
smoke. For the LaserCOMPACT display, the Fire 2
LED is not present.
Smoke Indication Level
Smoke levels are continuously shown on a bar-graph
display in which each illuminated segment indicates
the current level of detected smoke. The top
segment of the bar graph indicates the maximum Fire
1 smoke-threshold level, and each segment below the
top segment represents 1/20TH of the Fire 1 smokethreshold level.
To the left of the bar graph are the Fire 1, Action and
Alert smoke-threshold indicators. These indicators,
which represent programmable alarm thresholds, will
illustrate smoke levels and the proximity for
triggering into the next alarm level.
Status Lights
High-intensity flashing LEDs, which provide a clear
indication of the fire condition, are accompanied by
an audible warning signal that corresponds to the
alarm condition. Similarly, any fault condition is
indicated by a series of LEDs and an audible tone that
provide a comprehensive range of status data.

The audible warning is easily silenced by pressing the
Silence button at which point any flashing LEDs are
illuminated until the cause of the event is identified,
rectified and the system has been reset.

A two-digit numerical readout has a number of
modes that are indicated by a maximum four (4)
LEDs:




The current smoke level in % obscuration / feet

Fire 1 threshold in % obscuration / feet

 This is the sensitivity of the detector
The VESDA zone number
First Alarm Sector on the LaserSCANNER display
 The numeric readout shows the sector (pipe)
number that has detected smoke
Four (4) large, sizable push-button keys enable users
to reset, isolate or silence the detector; as well as
control the mode of the display module. The buttons
can be disabled to prevent operation of its functions.
A lamp-test routine is initiated by pressing the Mode
key for two seconds. A manual scan can be initiated
on the LaserSCANNER by holding the Silence button
for two seconds.
