The CX-Series is a coax line protector that utilizes a three-stage hybrid design topology. These units address
over-voltage transients with gas discharge and silicon avalanche devices. In addition, sneak and fault currents
are mitigated with PTC technology, which consists of resettable fuses. The PTC’s increase resistance several
orders of magnitude when overcurrents exceed safe levels. A normal state resumes when overcurrents are
removed. The ability to self-restore in this manner significantly increases suppressor performance and
survivability.

CCTV/DATA Coax Protector
CX-Series
CX SERIES: HEAD-END EQUIPMENT PROTECTION
Step 1
Make sure that specific model number chosen features the appropriate connector style and
impedance matching (50 or 75 ohm).
Step 2.
A. Connect the CX SERIES in line with the coaxial cable. The side labeled “EQUIP” should be
connected to the adjacent head-end equipment.
B. Connect incoming coaxial cable to the side of the CX-SERIES labeled “CABLE”.
C. Connect a ground wire (10-12 AWG) between the CX-SERIES ground terminal and the AC
power ground of head-end equipment. Keep this wire as short and straight as possible.
CX SERIES: CAMERA END PROTECTION
Step 3.
A. Connect the CX-SERIES in line with the coaxial cable. The side labeled “EQUIP” should be
connected to the adjacent camera.
B. Connect incoming coaxial cable to the side of the CX-SERIES labeled “CABLE”.
C. Connect a ground wire (10-12 AWG) between the CX-SERIES ground terminal and either
the AC power ground or equipment building ground at the camera location. Keep this wire as
short and straight as possible.
