Description
Renderoc CF is a crack sealing/filling cementitious material
in powder form. It is easy to apply and can be finished or
smoothened off with a putty blade or a damp sponge. It sets
quickly on application and can be over coated with common
paints / coatings.
Application instructions
Surface Preparation
The cracks to be sealed shall be saw cut or chiselled to form
a ‘V’ groove of approximately of 6mm x 6mm. The grooves
shall be cleaned to remove all the loose particles, dust, etc.
The groove shall be sprinkled with clean water before applying
the sealing mortar.
Mixing
Renderoc CF shall be mixed with water adopting w/p ratio
0.23 by weight or a mix porportion of 1 part of water to 3.0
parts of Renderoc CF, by volume. Thorough mixing shall be
carried out till a smooth, homogenous paste is obtained.
Application
The mixed paste is filled into the groove by gloved hand and
the surface finished using a trowel. This is continued till the
full length of crack is sealed.
Curing
Properties
Curing is necessary only when groove size exceeds 6mm
width or in areas exposed to UV.

Specification
Renderoc FC is designed for application to minor
imperfections in concrete and masonry surfaces. It is suitable
for application in the range 0 to 3 mm, and can be used in the
following situations :
The filler for minor surface imperfections (up to 3 mm depth)
shall be Renderoc FC - a single component, polymer modified,
cementitious mortar. The material shall be capable of use
without the need for an independent primer or curing system.
Filling pinholes prior to overcoating
General reprofiling over large areas, up to 3 mm depth
Fairing coat, in association with other Renderoc mortars

Description
Renderoc FC is supplied as a ready to use blend of dry
powders which requires only the site addition of clean water
to produce a highly consistent cementitious mortar.
Renderoc FC exhibits excellent thermal compatibility with
concrete, and is fully compatible with other Renderoc* †
mortars and Dekguard*† protective coatings.
Standards compliance
Renderoc FC has been approved by the British Board of
Agrement, under Certificate No. 98/3461.
Design criteria
Renderoc FC is designed for vertical and overhead use in
filling voids up to a depth of 3 mm. It can also be used to
render over large areas, from a feather-edge up to 3 mm
thickness.
Anti-dusting properties may be imparted upon the mix by the
addition of Nitobond SBR*† to the gauging water. This will
also enhance other performance properties; but should not
be viewed as mandatory for every application. However, where
subsequent coatings are to be applied, it is important to
produce a dust-free surface upon which to apply the coating.

Renderoc® FC
Instructions for use
Preparation
Clean the surface and remove any dust, unsound material,
plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion deposits or algae. Roughen
the surface to remove any laitence and expose the fine
aggregate by light scabbling or grit-blasting.
Oil and grease deposits should be removed by steam cleaning,
detergent scrubbing or the use of a proprietary degreaser. The
effectiveness of decontamination should then be assessed
by a pull-off test.
Renderoc repair mortars require no additional preparation prior
to the application of Renderoc FC.
The cleaned areas should be blown clean with oil-free
compressed air before continuing. All prepared areas should
be thoroughly soaked with clean water immediately prior to
the application of Renderoc FC. Any residual surface water
should be removed prior to commencement.
Mixing - small quantities
Care should be taken to ensure that Renderoc FC is thoroughly
mixed. Small quantities (up to 5 kg) can be mixed using a
suitable mixing drum or bucket. Greater quantities should be
mixed using a forced-action mixer. Mixing in a suitably sized
drum using an approved spiral paddle attached to an approved
slow speed (400/500 rpm) heavy-duty drill is an acceptable
alternative.
If mixing small quantities by hand, Renderoc FC should be
volume-batched. Add 3 volumes of the Renderoc FC powder
(loose-filled to excess and struck off level with the top of the
measuring container) to one volume of potable water. This
should be mixed vigorously until fully homogeneous.
Mixing - large volumes
For larger volumes, place 6.0 litres of cool, potable water into
the mixer and, with the machine in operation, add one full 20
kg bag of Renderoc FC and mix continuously for 3 to 5 minutes
until fully homogeneous.
Water addition may vary slightly according to both the ambient
temperature and the desired consistency of the mix, but it
should not exceed 6.0 litres
For additional anti-dusting, or enhanced performance
properties, add 0.6 litres of Nitobond SBR to the gauging
water until the desired consistency is achieved.
Note:
In all cases Renderoc FC powder must be added to
the water.
Application
Apply the mixed Renderoc FC to the prepared substrate, up to
3 mm thickness, by steel trowel. It should be applied with the
minimum of working and be allowed to partly set before finally
trowelling to a smooth finish.
If a very smooth finish is required, a small amount of water
may be flicked on to the surface of the Renderoc FC with a
paint brush prior to final trowelling.
Do not proceed with the application when rainfall is imminent
unless in a sheltered or protected situation.
Finishing
Renderoc FC is finished by striking off with a straight edge
and closing with a steel or plastic float. Note that water can be
drawn to the surface if ‘overworking’ with the float occurs, and
an unsightly finish may result.
Damp sponges or plastic floats may be used to achieve a
desired surface texture, but care should again be taken not to
overwork the surface.
Curing
Curing is not generally required. However, under extreme
conditions - high temperatures and drying winds - it may be
prudent to use Nitobond AR*† as a curing agent.
Nitobond AR does not require mechanical removal prior to
overcoating.
Cleaning
Renderoc FC should be removed from tools, equipment and
mixers with clean water immediately after use. Cured material
can only be removed by mechanical means.
Renderoc® FC
Overcoating with protective/decorative finishes
Estimating
Renderoc FC may be overcoated with a protective /decorative
coating after about 48 hours, dependent on ambient conditions.
Fosroc recommend the use of the Dekguard range of protective,
anti-carbonation coatings. These products provide a decorative
and uniform appearance as well as protecting parts of the
structure which have not been repaired and might otherwise
be at risk from the environment.
Supply
Limitations
Renderoc FC should not be used when the temperature
is below 5°C and falling.
Do not proceed with the application when rainfall is imminent
unless in a sheltered or protected situation.
The product should not be exposed to moving water
during application or prior to initial set.
If any doubts arise concerning temperature or substrate
conditions, consult the local Fosroc office.
High temperature working
It is suggested that, for temperatures above 350C, the following
guidelines are adopted as good working practice:
i
Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperature
controlled) environment, avoiding exposure to direct sunlight.
ii
Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if
necessary. It is especially important to keep cool those
surfaces of the equipment which will come into direct contact
with the material itself.
iii Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day,
and in direct sunlight.
iv Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure
that application is a continuous process.

Renderoc FC contains cement powders which, when mixed
or become damp, release alkalis which can be harmful to
the skin. Nitobond AR and Nitobond SBR are slightly alkaline.

During use, avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin
and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, eye
protection and respiratory protective equipment.
The use of barrier creams can provide additional skin
protection. In case of contact with skin, rinse with plenty of
clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. In case of
contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water
and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical
attention immediately - do not induce vomiting.

Two component high build polymer modified
cementitious reinstatement mortar
Uses
Design criteria
Renderoc HB2 is a cementitious repair compound which is
used to reinstate damaged and deteriorated concrete. This
product is suitable where above average chloride and
carbondioxide resistance is required. Due to the light weight
nature of the product Renderoc HB2 is recommended for
high build repair to reinforced concrete in vertical or overhead
situations where thicknesses of upto 40mm vertically or
25mm overhead can be achieved in a single application.
Renderoc HB2 is designed for vertical or horizontal application
use. It can be applied from a minimum of 5mm to 15mm
thickness in vertical sections. Higher thicknesses can be
achieved by the use of form work. Thicker sections can be
built up in layers. In horizontal locations Renderoc HB2 can
be applied up to 50mm thickness. The material should not
be applied at less than 5mm thickness. Consult Fosroc for
further information.

The following results were obtained at a Water:Powder ratio
of 0.18 and temperature @ 200C.

Description
Renderoc HB2 is a light weight, cementitious, polymer
modified repair mortar to provide high build properties as
well as excellent resistance to chloride ions and the diffusion
of acidic gases such as carbon dioxide. It contains special
preblended cements, graded sands and chemical additives
which thermally combine to provide a product that has
excellent compatibility with concrete as well as outstanding
water repellent properties. Renderoc HB2 can be applied in
thicknesses from 10mm to 40mm in vertical and 25mm in
overhead situations.

The area to be repaired shall be saw cut 10mm depth and
broken out to a minimum of 10mm to provide a defined repair
area. Feathered edges will not be accepted. It is essential
that no contaminated or carbonated concrete shall be in
contact with the reinforcing bars. The concrete shall be broken
out to expose the full circumference of the reinforcing bars if
they are within the contaminated area of the substrate.
Priming
The prepared steel be primed with a full coat of Nitozinc Primer
within 2 hours of cleaning. The concrete substrate shall be
thoroughly soaked with clean water prior to priming. The
bonding agent shall be Nitobond HAR and shall be well
worked in to the substrate. The repair compound shall be
applied whilst the Nitobond HAR is tacky.
Repair material
Expose fully any corroded steel in the repair area and remove
all loose scale and corrosion deposits. Steel should be
cleaned to a bright condition. Grit blasting is recommended.
Reinforcing steel priming
Apply one full coat of Nitozinc Primer and allow to dry before
continuing ( approx. 1 - 2 hrs at 300C).
Concrete / Masonry Priming
The substrate should be thoroughly soaked with water ( any
excess being removed ) prior to applying one coat of Nitobond
HAR and scrubbing it well into the surface. Renderoc HB2
can be applied as soon as the Nitobond HAR become tacky.
(If Nitobond HAR is too wet built up of the Renderoc HB2 in
overhead or vertical situations may be difficult ).
In exceptional circumstances, e.g. where a substrate/ repair
barrier is required, or where the substrate is liable to remain
permanently damp, Nitobond EP should be used. For further
details, Fosroc should be consulted.
Mixing
The area to be reinstated shall be repaired with Renderoc
HB2. The material shall be mixed with the specified amount
of water and applied strictly in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions. Note that only full bags of
Renderoc HB2 shall be mixed. The repair shall be cured in
accordance with the manufacturer's requirements.
Care should be taken to ensure that Renderoc HB2 is
thoroughly mixed. A forced action mixer is essential. Mixing
in a suitably sized drum using a paddle in a slow speed (400/
500 rpm) drill is an acceptable alternative. Mixing of part
bags should never be attempted.
Application instructions
For 1 bag mix :
Surface preparation
Clean the surface and remove any dust, unsound material,
plaster, oil, grease, corrosion deposits or algae. Roughen
the surface and remove any laitence by light scabbing or grit
blasting. Saw cut or cut back the extremities of the repairs to
a depth of atleast 10mm to avoid feather edging and to provide
a square edge. Break out the complete repair area to a
minimum depth of 10mm, up to the saw edge.
Oils and grease deposits should be removed by steam
cleaning, detergent scrubbing or by use of a proprietary
degreaser. The effectiveness of decontamination should then
be assessed by a pull off test.
Place about 2.75 litres of drinking quality water in the mixer
and, add the supplied liquid polymer part and mix with the
machine in operation, add Renderoc HB2 powder and mix
for 2 to 3 minutes. Depending on the ambient temperature
and the desired consistency, a small additional amount of
water may be added up to a maximum total water content of
3.25 litres.
Application
Apply the mixed Renderoc HB2 to the prepared substrate
with a gloved hand or trowel. First work a mini layer of the
mortar on to the layer.
Thoroughly compact the mortar on to primed substrate and
around the reinforcement.

Build up
Overcoating with protective decorative finishes
Additional build up on overhead can be achieved by application
of multiple layers and final thickness is dependent on the
material consistency and substrate profile. Exposed steel
reinforcing bars should be secured to avoid movement during
the application process as this can affect mortar compaction
and build.
As part of the Fosroc concrete repair and protection system,
Renderoc HB2 is extremely durable and will provide excellent
protection to the embedded steel reinforcement in the repaired
areas. The existing sound parts of the structure will benefit
from the application of a barrier/decorative coating to limit the
advance of the carbonation front, prevent chloride ingress
and bring them upto the same protective standard as the
repair. The Dekguard range of coatings is designed to achieve
this and may be applied. Separate datasheets on this range
are available.
Where thicker sections are required, the surface of the
intermediate layer should be scratch keyed and cured with
Nitobond AR. Repriming with Nitobond HAR and further
application of Renderoc HB2 may proceed as soon as this
layer has set.
The minimum applied final thickness of Renderoc HB2 is
10mm.
If sagging occurs, the Renderoc HB2 should be completely
removed and reapplied at a reduced thickness on to the
correctly primed substrate.
Finishing
Renderoc HB2 is finished by striking off with a straight edge
and closing with a steel float. Wooden or plastic floats or
sponges may be used to provide different surface textures.
Curing
A gap of 20mm shall be allowed behind the reinforcing bars.
The final substrate shall be clean and sound.
Corroded
reinforcement shall be mechanically cleaned to bright steel
condition.
Renderoc HB2 requires curing immediately after completion
of trowelling. Large areas should be cured as trowelling
progresses ( 0.5m2 at time ) without waiting for completion of
the whole area. In fast drying conditions, it may be necessary
to supplement this with polythene sheet taped down around
the edges. When using in cold climates the finished repair
must be protected from freezing.
Cleaning
Renderoc HB2 should be removed from tools and mixers
with clean water immediately after use. Cured material can
be removed mechanically only.
Equipment used with Nitozinc Primer and Nitobond EP should
be cleaned with Nitoflor Sol.
Storage
Shelf Life
All products have a shelf life of 12 months if kept in unopened
packs in a dry store. If stored in permanent high humidity
locations, the shelf life may be reduced . Nitobond AR and
Nitobond HAR should be protected from frost.

For the rapid temporary patching and plugging of concrete
segments, concrete and brick tunnel linings, sewage
systems, below ground access chambers, pipes,
basements, foundations and mines.
Heat generation characteristics : High heat output
(exotherm) leads to undesirably high shrinkage and
consequent thermal cracking. The curves below show the
low heat output of Renderoc Plug which minimises the risk
of shrinkage and thermal cracking.

Description
Renderoc Plug is supplied as a ready to use blend of dry
powders which requires only the addition of clean water at
site to produce a highly consistent, rapid setting mortar which
is easy to apply in many difficult conditions. The material is
based on a blend of cements, graded aggregates, special
fillers and chemical additives which control the rate of set
and minimise the risk of thermal cracking.

Water stopping mortar
The water stopping mortar shall be Renderoc Plug, a single
component cement based product to which only the site addition of clean water shall be permitted. It must be chloride
free and shall have a low exotherm to minimise thermal
cracking.
Application instructions

end users and contractors, as well as on-site technical
assistance in locations all over the country.
Renderoc Plug can be applied to horizontal, vertical or
overhead surface at a wide range of thickness. Generally,
the volume of mixed material used in a single application is
restricted to that which can be applied by trowel or gloved
hand. Thicker sections can be built up in layers. If any doubt
arises about the nature of the substrate, consult the local
Fosroc office for further information.
Preparation
Areas to be patched should be cut back to a depth of 15mm
and given a good mechanical key. Feather edges must not
be allowed. Surface should be brushed clean to remove
loose material, dust and laitence. Grease, slime or mould
growth should be removed by steam cleaning or high
pressure water jetting. A proprietary degreasing agent should
be used for removal of light oil or grease contamination.
To seal leaks, crack openings must be chased out to
approximately 20mm. The chase should always be undercut
to avoid leaving a V-section. All loose material and debris
should be removed.

or gloved hand. Due to the rapid set characteristics of the
product, only prepare a quantity of mortar which can be placed
within the prescribed set time.
Shelf life
Renderoc plug has a shelf life of 6 months if kept in a dry
store in the original, unopened bags.
Application
Trowel apply or hand-knead the mixed mortar in place,
ensuring maximum contact with the substrate before the
material sets. If being used to plug running water, Renderoc
Plug should be used and held in place until the initial set is
reached.

Uses
Mixing
To provide a water-resistant, smooth finish levelling
compound for concrete walls, masonry and brick surfaces.
Care should be taken to ensure that Renderoc Putty is
thoroughly mixed. Mix in a suitable size container using an
approved spiral paddle attached to a slow speed (400/
500rpm) heavy-duty drill.

Description
Renderoc Putty is a cement based putty containing selected
polymers to provide a smooth finished surface prior to
application of decorative coatings.

Application instructions
Preparation
All surfaces to receive Renderoc Putty should be clean and
free from dust, coatings, curing compounds and other loose
debris. Surfaces should be free from blow holes or large
voids.
Renderoc® Putty
When used over masonry, hollow blocks or rough surfaces,
apply a 1:3 cement:sand render over the blocks and allow to
cure for at least 3 days prior to application of Renderoc Putty.
Place 4.8 - 5.1 litres of cool, clean drinking quality water in the
mixing container followed by the powder and mix thoroughly.
Small quantities can be hand mixed by blending 2.5 - 3 parts
powder to 1 part by volume of cool, clean, drinking water.
Application
All surfaces to be levelled should first be wetted with water at
least one hour prior to the application of Renderoc Putty. Any
area that dries too fast should receive further wetting. As a
general rule surfaces to receive Renderoc Putty should be
damp before the application of the levelling compound.
Apply Renderoc Putty on the damp surface using a painter's
putty knife. Do not use a mason's trowel. Build up the levelling
compound in thin layers, until any irregularities or protrusions
have been completely covered. This may require 2-3 coats.
Allow each coat to dry for 20-30 minutes before the application
of further coats. Final coat should be abraded using a fine
grain sand paper after Renderoc Putty has dried for at least
one hour. Levelled areas may be overcoated with decorative
coatings.

Renderoc RG is used for repairs to damaged reinforced
concrete elements, particularly where access is restricted
and where vibration of the placed material is difficult or

aggregates where specified) shall be permitted. The microconcrete shall contain no metallic aggregates, or chlorides
and shall be shrinkage compensated in the plastic state.
Renderoc® RG
The micro concrete in the flowable consistency should achieve
a compressive strength of not less than 10N/mm2 after 24
hours, 40N/mm2 after 7 days and 50 N/mm2 after 28 dyas at
300C. Most importantly, the cured microconcrete shall contain
no metallic aggregates, or chlorides and shall be shrinkage
compensated in the plastic state. The unrestrained expansion
shall be between 1 - 4%. The flexural strength shall not be
less than 5 N/mm2 @ 28 days. The microconcrete shall have
a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to that of the host
concrete. The mixed density of microconcrete shall exceed
2100 kg/m3 at 270C.
Supplier specification
All microcreting (specify details and areas of application) must
be carried out using Renderoc RG, manufactured by Fosroc,
applied strictly in accordance wtih the manufacturer's technical
datasheet.
Application instructions
Preparation
The unrestrained surface area of the repair must be kept to a
minimum. The formwok should include drainage outlets for
pre-soaking and, if beneath a soffit, provision for airventing.
Provision must also be made for suitable access points to
pour or pump the mixed micro-concrete in place.
Defective concrete surfaces must be cut back to a sound base.
Smooth surfaces should be mechanically roughened.
Corroded reinforcing steel should be exposed around its full
circumference and cleaned to remove all loose scale and
corrosion deposits. It is important to clean the steel to a bright
condition. Grit-blasting is recommended.
One coat of Nitozinc Primer should be applied on the
reinforcing steel. If any discontinuity in the applied film is
noticed, one more coat has to be applied.
Alternatively, all prepared concrete substrates should be
primed using Nitobond EP, a slow - setting epoxy bond aid.
Nitobond EP shall be applied only on dry substrate.
Note : For repair sections generally deeper than 100mm it
may be necessary to mix the Renderoc RG with properly
graded 5mm to 12mm silt-free aggregate to minimise
temperature rise. The quantity of aggregate required may vary
depending on the nature and configuration of the repair
location. The typical results with a few aggregate proportions,
for various applications are furnished below for guidelines.

Yield

Several hours prior to placing, the concrete substrates should
be saturated with clean water. Immediately prior to placing,
any free water should be removed.

Fosroc manufactures a wide range of products specifically
designed for the repair and refurbishment of damaged
reinforced concrete. These include hand placed and
trowellable repair mortars, fluid micro concretes, chemical
resistant epoxy mortars and a comprehensive package of
protective coatings. In addition, a wide range of complimentary
products are available. These include admixtures, joint
sealants, waterproofing membranes, grouting, anchoring, and
specialised flooring materials.
Renderoc RG contains cement powders which, during normal
use, have no harmful effect on dry skin. However, when
Renderoc RG is mixed, or becomes damp, alkali is released
which can be harmful to the skin. During use, avoid inhalation
of dust and contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves, eye
protection and dust masks shall be worn. The use of barrier
creams is recommended. Incase of contact with skin, it shall
be washed with clean water. Incase of contact with eyes, it
shall be rinsed immediately with plenty of clean water and
medical advice shall be sought. If swallowed, medical
attention shall be sought immediately - Vomitting should not
be induced. Renderoc RG is non-flammable.

Instructions for use
Design criteria
Renderoc® RSXtra
Traffic time @ 250C
Renderoc RSXtra is designed for horizontal use but can also
be used vertically with the aid of formwork. Horizontal surface
areas should be restricted to bay sizes not exceeding 4m2.
Renderoc RSXtra should be applied at thicknesses in the
range 20-100mm. Thicker sections may be completed by
the addition of suitable aggregates - consult the local Fosroc
office for more information.
Saw or cut back the extremeties of the repair locations to a
depth of at least 20mm to avoid feather-edging and to provide
a square edge. Break out the complete repair area to a
minimum depth of 20mm upto the sawn edge.
Clean the surface and remove any dust, unsound or
contaminated material, plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion
deposits or algae. Where breaking out is not required,
roughen the surface and remove any laitence by light
scabbling or grit blasting.
Oil and grease deposits should be removed by steam
cleaning, detergent scrubbing or the sue of a proprietary
degreaser. The effectiveness of decontamination should then
be assessed by a pull-off test.
Renderoc® RSXtra
The prepared area should be blown clean with oil-free
compressed air.
Temporary formwork should be fitted tightly into all existing
pavement and floor joints which abut the repair zone in order
to prevent grout loss during the repair process.
Priming
Prior to placing, the prepared concrete substrate should be
saturated by flooding with clean water. Immediately Prior to
the application of Renderoc RSXtra, free standingwater
should be removed leaving the substrate ‘saturated surface
dry’.
Provided the substrate has been properly soaked, further
priming is not normally necessary.
Mixing
Care should be taken to ensure that Renderoc RSXtra is
thoroughly mixed. A forced action mixer is essentially (free
fall mixers are not suitable). Hand mixing of single bags
should be carried out in a suitably-sized mixing vessel, using
a slow speed drill (400/500 rpm) + Fosroc mixing paddle
attachment. Under no circumstances should part mixing be
considered.
It is essential that machine mixing capacity, material quantities
and labour availability is adequate to enable the placing
operation to be carried out continuously. Measure 2.25 litres
of drinking quality cool water and pour three quarters into the
mixer. With the machine in operation, add one full kg. bag of
Renderoc RSXtra and mix for one minute before adding the
rest of the water. Mix for a further 3-4 minutes until a smooth
even consistency is obtained. Note that powder must always
be added to water. The quantities mixed may be scalled up
as required.
When the drill and paddle mixing method is used, the
complete measured volume of water should be placed in the
mixing drum. With the paddle rotating, add one full 15 kg.
bag of Renderoc RSXtra and mix for 3-5 minutes until a
smooth even consistency is obtained.
Placing
The mixed material should be placed within 10 minutes of
mixing in order to gain the full benefit of fludity. Each repair
should be poured and pumped in a single continuous
operation. Repairs may be surface finished using a trowel or
wood float. If a textured surface is required, this can be
achieved using a suitable roller or brush as the material
begins to stiffen. The completed surface should not be
overworked. Renderoc RSXtra can be applied up to 100mm
thickness in a single applciation
For repair sections deeper than 100 mm, it will be necessary
to ‘fill-out’ Renderoc RSXtra with suitable and properly graded
aggregate in order to minimise temperature rise.
Care should be taken to ensure that, repaired area is not
affected by vibrations caused by the adjacent zones, till 3
hours from the time of placing the material to avoid cracking.

High temperature working
It is suggested that, the temperatures above 30 0C, the
following guidelines are adopted as good working practice:
Store unmixed material in a cool (preferably temperatur
controlled) environment, avoiding exposure to direct sunlight.
Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if
necessary. It is especially important to keep cool those
surfaces of equipment which will come into direct contact
with the material itself.
Try to eliminate application during the hottest times of the
day.
Makes suffient material, plant and labour available to ensure
that application is a continuous process.
Water (below 200C) should be used for mixing the repair
concrete prior to placement.
Renderoc® RSXtra
Curing
Renderoc RSXtra is a cement-based product. In common
with all cementitious materials, Renderoc RSXtra must be
cured immediately after finishing in accordance with good
concrete practice. Nitobond AR shall be used for effective
curing of the repair area. In fast drying conditions,
supplementary curing with polythene sheeting taped down
at the edges must be used. In cold conditions, the finished
repair must be protected from freezing.

component, cement-based blend of powders and graded
aggregates, to which only the site-addition of water shall be
permitted. The cured repair concrete shall achieve
compressive strengths of 15N/mm2 after 3 hours and 25N/
mm2 after 1 day (@ 250C). The material shall thus be capable
of supporting pedestrain and vehicular traffic after 4 hours, at
an ambient temperature of 250C.
Store in dry conditions in the original, unopened bags or packs.
If stored at high temperatures and / or high humidity conditions,
the shelf life may be reduced.

Nitobond AR should not come in contact with skin and eyes
or be swallowed. Ensure adequate ventillation and avoid
inhalation of vapours. Some people are sensitive to resins,
hardeners and solvents. Wear suitable protective clothing,
gloves and eye protection. If working in confined areas,
suitable respiratory protective equipment must be used. The
use of barrier creams provide additional skin protection.

Uses
The following are the typical values obtained with Superpatch
at recommended water powder ratio.
For patching and replacement of worn out areas, filling of
holes or depressions in concrete floor slabs in factories,
godowns, commercial or domestic buildings.
Application instructions
Advantages
The amount of water required to obtain a cohesive mortar
consistency only should be used. Accurate gauging methods
must be employed. The water addition to each 25 kg standard
pack of Superpatch should be :
High strength : Nearly three times harder than the normal
concrete
Non shrink - Eliminates shrinkage problems associated
with conventional cement concrete / mortars and ensures
effective bonding.
Reliability : Factory controlled prepacked product eliminates
material selection, quality control and other associated
problems on site.
Durability : Very high ultimate strengths combined with a
uniform microcellular material structure provides heavy
duty performance and durability.
Early usage : Floor usable in 24 hours for light traffic and
in 72 hours for all traffic.
Iron free, chloride free : No metallic iron present to corrode
and cause staining or deterioration due to rust expansion.
Allows early strength development without the use of
chlorides.

Mixing
A mechanically powered free fall concrete mixer may be used
for for small quantities upto 50 kg ( 25 litres of mortar ) mixing
may be carried out using a steel paddle in a hand held heavy
duty industrial drill. Under no circumstances should Superpatch
be mixed by hand.
Place about 80% of the specified volume of water in the
mixer and also place in the drum 6 to 8 hard, clean stones
or old concrete cubes of 100mm size to increase mixing
efficiency.
Slowly add the required quantity of Superpatch and mix
continuously.
Add the remaining water and continue mixing until an even
consistency mortar free from lumps is obtained.
Superpatch mortar is supplied as a ready to use dry powder
requiring only the addition of water to produce a high strength
mortar with non shrink property. The material is a mixture of
specially processed cement and carefully graded fine
aggregate.
Additives impart controlled expansion
characteristics and reduce water necessary to produce
cohesive mortar mix. The very low water/powder ratio ( 0.14)
ensures high early and ultimate strengths.
For repairing thick sections of more than 25mm depth it is
necessary to use well graded aggregates ( machine crushed,
washed and cleaned) in the size range of 3mm to 10mm.
Quantity of aggregates should not exceed 1 part of graded
aggregate to 1 part of Superpatch by weight in which case the
water/powder ratio will need to be increased to 0.18.

Surface preparation
The patch to be repaired must be chipped to a minimum depth
of 25mm and all loose particles, dust, etc., removed to leave a
clean, vertical edge all round. It must be ensured that patches
to be treated must be cut back and made either square or
rectangular in shape. The area to be repaired should be
cleaned by vacuum or compressed air to ensure proper
cleaning.
Priming
The cleaned surface free from dust and loose particles should
be primed with a first coat of Nitobond PVA / Nitobond AR ( one
part of which is diluted in 5 parts of water ) - by means of a
brush and allowed to dry for at least 1 - 3 hrs depending upon
temperature and humidity.
A second coat of Nitobond PVA / Nitobond AR is applied on the
surface and the repair mortar is placed when the primer is still
tacky.
Where Superpatch is mixed with aggregates for larger areas,
priming must be done with Nitobond AR. Water and cement
ratio is the ratio of 1 : 1: 3. Application of Superpatch must be
done when the primer is tacky.

Note : In the areas where water stagnation is expected, the
primer shall be Nitobond AR.
Coverage and yield
1 litre of Nitobond PVA when diluted with 5 litres of water will
cover approx. 10 -15 sq.m in two coats and Nitobond AR will
cover approx. 6 - 8 sq.m depending upon the texture of the
concrete surface.
Application of mortar
The Superpatch mortar which is obtained by mixing water with
the recommended water powder ratio (see mixing ) is placed
on the second coat of primer whilst tacky, and trowelled firmly
into all edges first and over the entire area to fill it completely
and levelled with a steel or wooden float. The finished area
must be covered with a thick gauge polythene sheet and made
air-tight for at least 4 - 6 hours after which normal curing with
wet hessian cloth or water ponding must be carried out for a
minimum period of 72 hours after which the floor may be opened
to all industrial traffic.
Superpatch mortar with recommended water powder ratio will
yield approx. 13 litre per 25 kg pack.
Storage
Superpatch has a shelf life of 6 months in unopened bags if
kept in a dry store. In humid locations the shelf life may be
further reduced.
Precautions
The application of Superpatch mortar must be carried out in
small bays measuring 2 m2 area at a time.
Health & Safety instructions
Curing
Nitobond PVA/Nitobond AR are non toxic. Gloves should be
worn while handling. Superpatch mortar is non toxic and is
slightly alkaline in nature. Splashes of mortar should be
washed off with clean water.
The area repaired with Superpatch mortar must be cured as
soon as the surface slightly stiffens and not later than 4 hours.
Normal curing with water ponding or wet hessian cloth must
be carried out for a minimum period of 72 hours.
Additional information
The floor may be used for light traffic viz. foot traffic and light
trolleys after 24 hours in which case a steel sheet of at least
2mm thick is laid over the polythene cover over which light
traffic may be run as mentioned above.
