Wattage Settings
For optimal performance and reduced risk of damage to the ballast or lamp, match only a 1000W
ballast with a 1000W lamp, 600W ballast with a
600W lamp, and 400W ballast with a 400W lamp.
Compatible lamp can then be dimmed to a lower wattage setting or Super Charged to boost lamp output
up to 5%.
Troubleshooting
Warning
• Install the unit in a cool, well-ventilated location.
• Do not expose the unit to water.
• Ensure the power source meets the unit’s voltage
requirements. The power cord used should always match
the voltage provided.
• Do not use the unit if the power cord or plug
becomes damaged.
• Disconnect the unit from the power source before moving
the unit, plugging/unplugging the lamp cord, or changing
the lamp.
• Always allow the lamp to cool before restarting the unit.
• Do not attempt to rewire or modify the unit. Doing so will
void the warranty.
• Use the unit indoors only.
Installation
1. Ballast can be mounted vertically or horizontally
by the handle or base in a stable, dry location. Use
heavy-duty screws (sold separately) that can support
the weight of the ballast. Ballast can also be placed
on a flat, stable surface.
2. Connect lamp cord to the ballast output
receptacle. Install a lamp, matching the wattage to
the dedicated ballast wattage (ex: pair a 1000W
ballast with a 1000W lamp). Do not operate lamps
above their rated wattage (ex: DO NOT pair a 1000W
ballast with a 400W lamp).
What if the lamp isn’t igniting?
Check that the surge protector, timer, controller
or outlet is working properly. If the outlet doesn’t
seem to be working, check the breaker box for a
tripped or blown fuse. Verify all cable connections
are secure and rated lamp wattage matches ballast.
Use the ballast with a lamp you are certain is functioning properly. If the lamp still doesn’t come on,
follow the warranty claim steps.
Power interruptions may also affect a lamp’s ability
to reignite if it has not properly cooled. Disconnect
the ballast from the power source and allow the
lamp to cool for 15 minutes before reconnecting
the ballast.
What if the ballast stops working?
Excessive temperatures, short or open circuits,
power surges, and other conditions can trigger integrated safety features, resulting in unit shutdown.
Unplugging the ballast for 10-15 minutes, checking breaker panels and integrated ballast breaker,
or reducing the number of devices connected to the
circuit may resolve the problem. If the ballast still
doesn’t come on, follow the warranty claim steps.
3. Plug the unit into a grounded 120V power source.
The unit’s input voltage can be converted to 240V
by replacing the 120V power cord with a 240V
power cord (sold separately) and then plugging the
240V power cord into a grounded 240V
power source.
