STMB13 MIXER USER GUIDE
USING THE MIXING STAND
Attaching the mixer to the stand
$
Make sure the mixer is disconnected from the mains with
the speed switch set to ‘0' (off).
$
Insert the beaters or dough hooks into the mixer.
$
Place the supplied bowl into the mounting recess in the
stand.
$
At the base of the mixer ATTACH
there are three mounting MIXER
slots. Locate these over the
mounting lugs in the stand.
$
Press the Head Lock Button
in and push the mixer down
with a slight rearward
pressure until it locks in the
stand. You will hear it click
into place.
DETACH
$
Release the button and check MIXER
that the head is securely
attached.
$
Reverse the procedure to
separate the mixer from the
stand.
Always attach/detach the mixer
with the stand lowered.
Using the mixer on the stand
$
Plug the mixer into the mains and switch on the power.
$
Set the desired selector speed and start mixing. Commence
with a low speed and gradually rotate the selector to the
right to increase the speed as needed.
$
The mixing speed will be boosted when the TURBO button
is depressed. Releasing the button will revert the mixer to
the selected speed. Use this facility only in short bursts so as
not to overload the motor.
OPERATING NOTES FOR STAND MIXING
$
Always hold the mixer when it is operating for increased
stability.
$
If you have to add ingredients when mixing always turn the
selector to OFF.
$
During mixing, occasionally rotate the bowl by hand to
ensure even mixing.
$
Do not operate the mixer continuously for more than 5
minutes. After 5 minutes of continuous use, allow 10
minutes for the motor to cool before using the mixer again.
$
Always use the supplied bowl. Other bowls will not fit
properly and ceramic bowls may cause the beaters to
scrape the bottom of the bowl.
Tilting the mixer up/down:
$
Set the speed switch
to’ 0' (off).
$
Press the Head Lock
Button and rotate the
mixer until you hear it
click into place.
$
Reverse the
procedure to lower
the mixer.
$
Always ensure the
mixer is firmly locked
in place and never
switch the mixer on in
the tilted position.

During mixing, if you need to scrape the bowl, or add
ingredients, turn the mixer off first.
$
When mixing, lightly scraping the beaters after the
addition of each ingredient assists in achieving efficient
mixing. Switch the mixer off, (remove from the stand if
necessary) and then scrape the beaters with a flexible
rubber or plastic spatula. NEVER USE ANY METAL
IMPLEMENT.
$
When mixing is complete, turn the speed selector OFF and
unplug the cord from power outlet.
Some everyday terms
$
Knead: Mix dough with the dough hooks.
$
Blend: Combine liquids, fold in dry ingredients, egg whites
and whipped cream.
$
Stir: Prepare sauces, puddings, muffins and quick breads.
$
Mix: Prepare batters and mixes
$
Beat: Cream butter and sugar, make cookie dough, cake
When you have finished:
$
Switch the selector to ‘0' (OFF).
$
Switch off at the mains and unplug the mixer.
$
Remove the mixer from the stand reversing the attachment
procedure.
$
Excess mixture may be scraped from the beaters with a
flexible plastic or rubber spatula. Do not use metal
spatulas for this purpose.
$
To remove the beaters: Hold the mixer by the handle, press
the release knob. down. Hold the attachments by the
spindle and remove them.
Hints and Tips
$
Ingredients should be at room temperature before mixing.
$
Assemble all ingredients and utensils near the mixer.
$
Break eggs into a separate container, then add to the
mixture.
$
When mixing egg whites even the smallest amount of oil
on beaters or bowl may cause the egg whites not to aerate.
$
When kneading yeast dough, we suggest the speed selector
is in position 1 or 2 to achieve best results.
$
Always start mixing at slow speeds. Gradually increase to
the recommended speed as stated in the recipe.
$
Only mix/blend mixtures as recommended in your recipe.
At any stage of mixing, over beating can cause toughness,
close texture, lack of rising or excessive shrinkage.
$
When mixing dry ingredients use the lowest speed.

mixes and frostings.
$
Whip: To whip light and fluffy mixtures, whip cream, beat
eggs, make meringues.
CARE AND CLEANING
After Use:
$
Unplug the motor unit. Remove from the stand if necessary.
$
Remove the attached dough hooks or beaters.
$
If the motor is warm, allow it to cool fully.
$
Wipe the motor unit and the stand all over with a soft cloth
dampened with soapy water followed with a clean damp
cloth. Ensure any food splashes are fully removed.
$
Dry well. Do not immerse the motor unit, mains cable or
plug in water.
$
If food particles have adhered to the beater sockets or the
ventilation slots in the motor unit, brush them out with a
barely damp (not wet) brush.
$
Wipe any excess food particles from the power cord.
$
Wash the bowl, beaters and dough hooks in warm soapy
water and wipe dry.
$
After cleaning, Reassemble the mixer on the stand, place
the beaters and dough hooks in the mixing bowl, loosely
coil the cable and store the unit in a dry cool cupboard out of
the reach of children and pets.

WARRANTY
Your appliance is covered by a warranty for 12 months from the
date of purchase. If a fault develops during this period, please
return the unit to your nearest Tesco store together with the
original receipt as proof of purchase. This warranty in no way
affects your consumer rights

SAFETY GUIDE
Read all the instructions carefully before using your
mixer and keep them for future reference.
Unplug the mixer from the mains supply when not in
use, when removing or attaching beaters or dough
hooks, and before cleaning any part of the appliance.
This appliance is for occasional household use only.
Do not use the mixer outdoors or in damp conditions.
Do not immerse the motor unit or the electrical cord or
plug in liquids.
Do not use the mixer near a source of heat or on an
unstable surface.
Never let children operate this appliance.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical,sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do

When unplugging the power cord, hold the plug top.
Do not operate the mixer with a damaged cord or

There are no user serviceable parts in your appliance.
Unauthorised dismantling or servicing will void the
product warranty.
Do not use the appliance for any purpose not
expressly specified in this manual.
When operating your mixer: Avoid contacting
moving parts. Keep hands, hair, clothing, as well as
spatulas and other utensils away from beaters during
operation to reduce the risk of injury to persons,
and/or damage to the mixer.
Switch the motor unit off when filling or emptying the
mixing bowl, attaching or removing beaters.
Remove beaters from the mixer before washing.
Do not mix or blend mixtures containing fruit stones,
etc.
Hand Mixing: Make sure that you use a bowl
large enough to accommodate all the ingredients
and that the bowl is sturdy enough to stand still
during the mixing process.
Stand Mixing: Ensure the appliance is properly
assembled and the mixer head is secure before
operating the appliance..
Use only the supplied mixing bowl. Other bowls will
not fit properly and may be dangerous.

Before using this appliance ensure that the voltage of
your electricity supply is the same as that indicated
on the rating plate of the appliance
WARNING: If the mains power cord is damaged in
any way it must be replaced by a qualified technician.

and mixing bowl.

Turbo Button
You can mix a wide range of ingredients depending on the
attachments used. Two sets of tools are provided:
$
Beaters: These are used for the majority of everyday
mixing tasks. Use beaters for easy mix dough, whipping
egg white and cream, and mixing batters, mayonnaise
and purees. They are also suitable for mixing and stirring
sauces, pudding mixes, etc.

Dough Hooks: Use these for the preparation of heavy
yeast dough and short pastries. Use them for creaming
mashed potatoes, and with mixes for dumplings, potato
pancakes and for any ingredients that require kneading.
ASSEMBLY AND USE
Always make sure the mixer is unplugged from the mains when
cleaning, attaching or removing accessories
Mixing Bowl
Before using your mixer for the first time: Wash the
beaters and the mixing bowl in warm soapy water, rinse and dry
thoroughly. Wipe the motor unit and the stand all over with a
soft cloth dampened with soapy water followed with a clean
damp cloth.
Dry well. Do not immerse the motor unit, mains cable or plug in
water.
Attaching the beaters and dough hooks

The attachments must be used in matched pairs. Push the
attachments one at a time into the sockets in the mixer
base and rotate slightly to secure them.
CONTROLS
$
Beaters: Beaters can be inserted into either socket.

UNPACKING
In the box you should find:
$
Dough Hooks: These fit only one way round. Insert the
hook with the washer in the socket indicated in the
illustration and the plain hook in other socket.

The mixer unit;
$
One pair of beaters and one pair of dough hooks;
$
Mixer stand and metal mixing bowl;
Remove all packaging from the mixer and accessories. Retain
the packaging. If you dispose of it please do so according to any
recycling regulations.
If items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest Tesco
store for assistance.
HAND MIXING
$
Have all your ingredients prepared and ready to hand
before starting. Use the supplied bowl or a stout roomy
bowl for your ingredients and do not overfill the bowl.
$
Place the starter ingredients in the bowl.
$
Before use, make sure the attachments are firmly inserted.
$
Set the speed selector on the mixer to ‘0' (OFF) .
$
Plug the motor unit into the mains and switch on the power.
$
Set the desired selector speed and start mixing. Commence
with a low speed and gradually rotate the selector to the
front to increase the speed as needed.
$
The mixing speed will be boosted when the TURBO button
is depressed. Releasing the button will revert the mixer to
the selected speed. Use this facility only in short bursts so as
not to overload the motor.
$
If you have to add ingredients when mixing always turn the
selector to OFF. Never permit the mixer to run ‘hands off’.
$
Do not operate the mixer continuously for more than 5
minutes. After 5 minutes of continuous use, allow 10
minutes for the motor to cool before using the mixer again.
Hint: When operating the appliance make sure that there is
$
slack in the power cord. Never operate the appliance in a
location where the power cord can get snagged on kitchen
units, or appliances or utensils. The power cord should lie
outside your operating hand.
When you have finished:
$
Switch the selector to OFF, lift the mixer out of the mixture
and switch off at the mains before unplugging the mixer.
$
Excess mixture may be scraped from the beaters with a
flexible plastic or rubber spatula. Do not use metal
spatulas for this purpose.
$
To remove the beaters: Hold the mixer by the handle, press
the eject button in. Hold the attachments by the spindles
and remove them carefully.
Locating Washer
Read and retain the manual. If you pass the product on to a
third party, make sure to include this manual.
