Construction
XChanger is fabricated of 18 GA 18-8 type 304 stainless steel with #4 satin finish. All welded construction.
Recess Kit is fabricated of 22 GA 18-8 type 304 stainless steel with 16 GA stainless steel dryer mounting plate. All welded
construction. The XChanger and Recess Kit are coated with a protective film that should be removed as necessary during
installation.

Items Needed for Installation

4 - #10 X 1 ½ Flat Head Philips SS screws
6 – ¼-20 Hex Nuts
1 – Tamper-proof wrench
Wood or sheet metal screws (not provided)
1. Carefully remove the existing paper towel holder and recessed paper towel box to expose the rough framed opening.
2. Verify that the XChanger mounting tabs (Fig. 1) fit inside the framed opening exposed when old receptacle was removed
(adjust accordingly). The XChanger is designed to sit on the finished wall, covering the old opening.
3. Bring the appropriate electrical service to the back of the rough opening.
This step must be completed by qualified
electrical personnel. (Consult XLERATOR Owner’s Manual for installation and wiring requirements.) Confirm
power and then turn off power at the electrical box before proceeding further.

4. Bend the 8 mounting tabs on the XChanger toward the inner surface of the studs, and fasten them using the appropriate
hardware (i.e., wood or sheet metal screws – not provided).
5. Insert the Recess Kit (Fig 2) with attached mounting plate into the XChanger and secure it to the 4 Recess Kit mounting
tabs using the 4 #10 x 1 ½” flat head screws provided with the Recess Kit.
6. Remove the two (2) button head tamper-proof bolts from the top of the dryer mounting plate (retain bolts for Step 11) with
the special tamper-proof wrench provided with the Recess Kit. Slowly tilt the mounting plate downward, making sure the
chain (see inset Fig 3) is attached to the back, as this prevents dryer from falling forward.
7. Attach electrical service to one of two entrance holes on the mounting plate. (Upper left hole is preferred location.) Use
90° connector for best fit and clearance (see inset Fig 3).
8. Remove cover of dryer by removing two (2) tamper-proof bolts from the sides using the special tamper-proof wrench
provided with the dryer, or recess kit. (Retain bolts for Step 11.) Knock out the corresponding entrance hole in the dryer
baseplate.
9. Mount dryer sub assembly (insides) onto the six (6) ¼-20 studs located on the Recess Kit mounting plate. Secure sub
assembly using a nut driver and all six (6) ¼-20 hex nuts provided. (Fig 3 )
10. Make your electrical connections to the terminal block following the schematic located on the dryer.

11. Attach the cover to dryer (Fig. 4) using the two (2) flat head tamper-proof bolts previously removed in Step 8. Tilt
baseplate up and secure with the two (2) button head tamper-proof bolts previously removed in Step 6. (Fig. 5). Restore
power at the electrical power box and test for proper operation.
12. Remove all remaining protective film from XChanger and Recess Kit. Make sure to leave the special wrench with the
Owner or Facility Personnel.
