IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Thank you for purchasing the Salton Box Fan. All Salton appliances
are manufactured with the strictest standards to ensure your satisfaction.
When using electrical appliances basic safety precautions should always be followed:
1. Read all instructions and save them for future reference.
2. Do not touch moving parts, always take caution when close to the appliance and
never put objects into the grille when the unit is in operation.
3. Never touch the appliance with wet / damp hands or feet.
4. To protect against electrical hazards never immerse cord, plugs or the appliance
in water or any other liquid.
5. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children or
invalid persons.
6. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance
has malfunctioned in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest Amalgamated
Appliances authorised service centre.
7. Never use outdoors or expose to rain, sun etc.
8. Do not let cord hang over a counter top or table edge or place near any hot surfaces.
9. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
10. This appliance is intended for household use only. Do not use appliances for other
than its intended use.
11. Never leave the unit unattended whilst in use.
12. Never attempt to open or dismantle any part of this appliance. Responsibility for failure to an
appliance cannot be accepted if this instruction has been ignored.
13. Do not cover this appliance when in use.
14. Always move the control knob to “0” and switch off at the wall socket before removing the
plug.
15. Always ensure the fan is placed on a flat surface.
16. It is not advisable to expose babies or elderly people to a continuous cold air stream for
a long period of time.

GETTING STARTED – INSTALLATION OF STAND



Insert the 2 plugs (a) found on the stand into the holes in the rear cabinet.
Press the stand (b) in firmly until the clips (c) are attached onto the back of the grille.
To remove the stand, first remove the clips from the grille and pull out the stand.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Plug the fan into a suitable plug socket, always ensure the voltage corresponds to the unit
specification.
2. Select the operation speed by turning the speed selection knob (G) clockwise.

3. Select the required time period on the timer selection knob. If the timer function is not
needed, the knob must be in the ‘On’ position.
Louvre (rotates air stream)
The speed of the louvre rotation is controlled by the louver speed knob (C).
 Turn the knob counter – clockwise to set the louvre turning.
 Turn the knob clockwise to decrease the turning speed or stop the rotation of the louvre.
Timer
You can preset the time for the fan to operate by using the timer knob (H).
When not in use, always place the knob to ‘0ff’. To select a time period, turn the knob
clockwise(from 0 to 120 minutes). The timer can be stopped at any time by turning it
counter-clockwise to ‘0ff’.
Cleaning
Always remove the mains plug from the wall before cleaning.
BODY:
Use a soft cloth to clean, never use abrasive products or solvents.
SERVICE
Hints before returning for service :
1. Has the plug been wired correctly and are the wires tight under their screws ?
2. Is your household socket working properly ?
If service becomes necessary within the warranty period the appliance should be returned to an
approved Amalgamated Appliance (Pty) Ltd. Service Centre. Servicing outside the warranty
period is still available but this will be chargeable.

IN THE EVENT OF A CLAIM UNDER WARRANTY THIS RECEIPT MUST BE PRODUCED.
WARRANTY
1.
Tedelex Trading (Pty) Limited (“Tedelex”) warrants to the original purchaser of this product (“the
customer”) that this product will be free of defects in quality and workmanship which under normal

personal, family or household use and purpose may manifest within a period of 1 (one) year from the
date of purchase (“warranty period”).
Where the customer has purchased a product and it breaks, is defective or does not work properly for the
intended purpose, the customer must notify the supplier from whom the customer bought the product
(“the supplier”) thereof within the warranty period. Any claim in terms of this warranty must be supported
by a proof of purchase. If proof of purchase is not available, then repair, and/or service charges may be
payable by the customer to the supplier.
The faulty product must be taken to the supplier's service centre to exercise the warranty.

The supplier will refund, repair or exchange the product in terms of this warranty subject to legislative

requirements. This warranty shall be valid only where the customer has not broken the product himself,
or used the product for something that it is not supposed to be used for. The warranty does not include
and will not be construed to cover products damaged as a result of disaster, misuse, tamper, abuse or
any unauthorised modification or repair of the product.
5.
This warranty will extend only to the product provided at the date of the purchase and not to any
expendables attached or installed by the customer.
6.
If the customer requests that the supplier repairs the product and the product breaks or fails to work
properly within 3 (three) months of the repair and not as a result of misuse, tampering or modification by
or on behalf of the customer, then the supplier may replace the product or pay a refund to the customer.
7.
The customer may be responsible for certain costs where products returned are not in the original
packaging, or if the packaging is damaged. This will be deducted from any refund paid to the customer.
