Application
The HARS-RT.xx transponder card reader is used in conjunction with the HARS-C2x
room controller or HARS-C02 access controller. Guest and hotel-staff access codes are
detected touch-free by the HARS-RT.xx transponder card reader and transmitted to the
HARS-C2x room controller (resp. HARS-C02 access controller) for evaluation. The
HARS-C2x room controller (resp. HARS-C02 access controller) enables room entry by
activating access-dependant room functions.

Function
The HARS-RT transponder card reader communicates with the HARS-C2x room
controller (resp. HARS-C02 access controller) via digital signals and has the following
functions:
LED for Guest In Room / Access Granted indication
LED for Do Not Disturb / Access Denied indication
LED for Make Up Room indication
LED for SOS indication
Reads the access code on the transponder card, which is approached on the front of
the card reader
• After reading it, transfers the access code to HARS-C2x room controller
(resp. HARS-C02 access controller)
• Enables room entry and access-dependent room functions

The HARS-RT transponder card reader is connected to the HARS-C2x room controller
(resp. HARS-C02 access controller).
The connection has to be made with a flat telephone cable (8x0,14mm², maximum
length 20m) terminated on both ends with RJ45 male connectors.

Mechanical design
The HARS-RT.xx transponder card reader comprises:
• Printed circuit board with the electronic circuit, four LED’s, transponder reader-unit,
and RJ45 female connector
• Base frame
− Bticino Living/Type L4703 for HARS-RT.BB
− Legrand Vela/Type 72843 for HARS-RT.LB
− Vimar Idea/Type 16713 for HARS-RT.VB
Note
The printed circuit board is screwed into the base frame and can be replaced.

Engineering notes
The HARS-RT.xx transponder card reader is designed for flush wall mounting and fixed
in a base frame. Cover frames for this base unit are available from the installation
ranges of various manufacturers (see "Ordering").
One card reader can be connected directly to the HARS-C2x room controller
(resp. HARS-C02 access controller).
Addressing not needed
The identification of room access status and indication is not in the room card reader
unit itself, but in the room controller application. To enable the room controller to
communicate with the room card reader, there is no need to address the device – it
communicates directly with the room controller (plug and play).
Mounting instructions
Mounting location
The HARS-RT transponder card reader must be mounted in front of the hotel room at
the same height as the door “blind” knob.
• The device is intended for fixed installation in a dry, enclosed space.
• Mount horizontally only, with the front plate vertical
• Do not install AC 230 V devices in the same mounting box
• Commissioning must be carried out by trained personnel only
• Do not open the card holder
• Local safety and installation regulations must be observed
Commissioning
To operate devices connected to the same room controller attention should be paid to
correctly connect flat telephone cables to room controller.
STOP
Important note
Flat telephone cable (or UTP) for HARS-RT.xx room card reader must not be mixed
with flat cable for HARS-T05.xx room temperature unit. Mixing those cables could
cause HARS-T05.xx room temperature unit or room controller to malfunction or even
damage the device(s).
