UNFC Workshop, 25 April, Salle XII
The Workshop will take place in Salle XII starting at 10.00 hours. A draft programme for the Workshop is

EGRC Eighth Session, 26–28 April, Salle XII
The EGRC Eighth Session will continue in Salle XII starting at 10.00 hours on 26 April. A draft timeline for the

provided in the meeting room.
UNECE & SPE Swiss Section Lecture, 26 April at 13.30 hours, Salle XXI
The SPE Swiss Section lecture in cooperation with UNECE will take place in Salle XXI starting at 13.30 hours.
UNECE Commission Session Side Event “Managing Resources Strategically: A Tool to Attain the 2030
Sustainable Development Agenda”, 27 April at 13.30 hours, Salle XXI
The side event, comprising speakers from the EGRC, is held as part of the 67th Session of the Commission and
will take place in Salle XVII starting at 13.30 hours. All EGRC meeting participants are invited to attend.
IAEA & UNECE UNFC Consultancy Meeting, 24–25 April, Salle E3025 (by invitation only)
The consultancy meeting for preparation and review of a technical report on best practices in the application
of UNFC to uranium and thorium projects will take place in Salle E3025 starting at 09.30 hours on 24 April.
Informal consultations, 24–25 April
Informal consultations, including of the Technical Advisory Group, will take place on 24 April in room E3023
and on 25 April in room E1008/10. These meetings are closed discussions by invitation only.
UN Entrance Badges
All delegates will be issued with entry badges for the full week 24–28 April (irrespective of which meetings
you are attending during the week, UNECE & SPE Swiss Section lecture included). UN badges are obtained at
the Pass and Identification Unit of the UNOG Security and Safety Section, located at the Pregny Gate 1, 14,
Avenue de la Paix, opposite the Red Cross Building. Please refer to “UNECE Resource Classification
Week 2017” when you arrive at Security (this includes those attending only the UNECE & SPE
Swiss Section Lecture). You can collect your badge as from 08.00 hours on 24 April. Due to the number of
other events taking place during the week, please allow approximately 60 minutes to obtain your UN
Entrance Badge and reach the meeting room. Meetings start promptly at 10.00 hours. The Security Office
opens at 08.00 hours and closes at 17.00 hours.
PLEASE NOTE: due to new security measures at the Palais des Nations, conference
participants can now only enter through four doors: A15, A17, C6 and E40.

Directions to Meeting Rooms
Salle XII
Once you have entered through the Pregny Gate i.e. past the Security Officials, follow the path straight
ahead, walk down a short flight of steps and then to right and enter through Door A17. When through
Door A17 (which is on the second floor), turn right and take the lift A17 or stairs up to the third floor. On
exiting the lift walk straight ahead and Salle XII is the first meeting room immediately on your left.
Salle XXI (UNECE & SPE Swiss Section lunchtime lecture on 26 April)
Once you have entered through the Pregny Gate i.e. past the Security Officials, follow the path down to the
left in the direction of the E Building (modern building). You will then see a car park and Door E40 directly in
front of you. Enter through Door E40 (which is on the second floor), turn right and take the escalator down
to the first floor. Salle XXI is located behind the escalator.
Directions from room XII: turn left out of XII, take the first left and walk through a glass covered corridor. You
are on the third floor. Take the escalators down to the first floor. Salle XXI is behind the escalator.
Salle XVII (lunchtime side event on 27 April)
Once you have entered through the Pregny Gate i.e. past the Security Officials, follow the path down to the
left in the direction of the E Building (modern building). You will then see a car park and Door E40 directly in
front of you. Enter through Door E40 (which is on the second floor), turn right and take the escalator down
to the first floor. Salle XVII is located in the centre of the Hall, you will see it from the escalator to your right.
Directions from room XII: turn left out of room XII, take the first left and walk through a glass covered
walkway. You are on the third floor. Take the escalators down to the first floor. Salle XVII is located in the
centre of the Hall, you will see it from the escalator to your right.
Room E3023
Once you have entered through the Pregny Gate i.e. past the Security Officials, follow the path down to the
left in the direction of the E Building (modern building). You will then see a car park and Door E40 directly in
front of you. Enter through Door E40 (which is on the second floor), turn right and take the escalator up to
the third floor. At the top of the escalator turn right and follow the narrow corridor to room E3023.
Directions from room XII – turn left out of room XII, take the first left and walk through a glass covered
walkway. You are on the third floor. E3023 is located on your left just opposite the escalator.
Room E1008/10 (TAG meetings, 25 April)
Once you have entered through the Pregny Gate i.e. past the Security Officials, follow the path down to the
left in direction of the E Building. You will see a car park and Door E40 directly in front of you. Enter through
Door E40 (which is on the second floor), turn right and take the escalator down to the first floor. Turn right
leaving the escalator behind you, keep to the left and you will see signs for the CAFETERIA. Walk past the
signs and then you will see to your left a sign “Offices/Bureaux 1002-1026”. Open the door and walk down
the corridor, room E1008 is on your right.
Room E3025 (UNECE & IAEA UNFC Consultations, 24-25 April)
Once you have entered through the Pregny Gate i.e. past the Security Officials, follow the path down to the
left in the direction of the E Building (modern building). You will then see a car park and Door E40 directly in
front of you. Enter through Door E40 (which is on the second floor), turn right and take the escalator up to
the third floor. At the top of the escalator turn right and follow the narrow corridor to room E3025.

Microsoft HoloLens app demonstration, 25–26 April
Microsoft will demonstrate its advanced technology HoloLens app outside room XII on 25 and 26 April.
HoloLens is a “mixed reality” platform that could potentially be used to visualize surface features,
underground reservoirs and ore bodies. HoloMaps from Taqtile is the first app of its kind for navigating
through a holographic model while simultaneously overlaying real-time data in either a solo or shared

Timing of UN Meetings
UN meetings run from 10.00–13.00 hours and from 15.00–18.00 hours.
Reception, Wednesday 26 April
A cocktail reception will be held at 18.15 hours on Wednesday 26 April in UN Restaurant on the 8th floor of
the Palais des Nations. The reception is kindly sponsored by Cheong Ju Limestone Incorporated. Spouses are
welcome to attend.
Coffee Lounge/Salon des Délégués & Sponsored Coffee Breaks
During the EGRC meetings, a number of coffee breaks will be held outside the meeting room. The coffee
breaks are kindly sponsored by Aclaro Softworks Inc, Cheong Ju Limestone Inc, DeGoyler and MacNauguhton
Canada Ltd, EY, Leidos Engineering, Jordanian Uranium Mining Company, SPE Swiss Section and Sullivan &

Coffee and beverages can also be purchased at the Coffee Lounge/Salon des Délégués or the Serpent Bar.
The entrance to the Coffee Lounge/Salon des Délégués is located on the third floor just after Salles VII and
VI. The Serpent Bar is on the first floor of the E Building near Door E40.
Please note that only water can be consumed in meeting rooms.

A small supermarket, selling food and non-food items (perfume, make-up, jewellery, watches, luggage,

A free ticket for Geneva public transportation (train & bus) is available for all arriving passengers and can
be obtained in the baggage area of the International Airport (before exiting customs). The ticket is valid on
any bus or train in Geneva for 80 minutes for all passengers carrying a valid plane ticket.

Delegates are encouraged to download this map as it highlights the location of the meeting rooms, the UN
cafeteria, coffee lounges and bars, as well as the bus numbers that stop at the Pregny Gate and the bus and tram
numbers that stop at the Nations Gate (Place des Nations). The Pregny Gate is a 500 metres walk up the hill
(Avenue de la Paix) from the Nations Gate.
Delegates are requested to make their own hotel arrangements. A list of hotels close to the UN is available
on request from the Secretariat.

How to find the UN Palais des Nations premises
Public transport by tram and bus
The Palais des Nations is served by several tram and bus lines: Buses 8, 28, F, V and Z serve Pregny Gate
(Appia stop) where the Security/Registration office is located.
Tram 15, as well as buses 5, 8, 11, 22, 28, V, F and Z, serve the Place des Nations. Place des Nations, where
the Nations Gate is located, is some 500 metres away from the Pregny Gate. Buses 5 and 28 serve Geneva
Airport from the Place des Nations. Further information such as itineraries, timetables, fares, etc. is available
at the site of the Transports Publics Genevois: http://www.tpg.ch/en/web/site-international
Taxis
A taxi stand is located on Route de Pregny, approximately 25 metres from the Pregny Gate, in the direction
of Place des Nations. Taxis are usually available around the clock. The direct telephone number is: +41 22
331 41 33.
Emergencies
In case of medical or other emergency, the number 112 should be dialled from any internal telephone.
For medical services, UNOG has a Medical Service (door 1) that is available during normal working hours (8
a.m. to 6 p.m.). Outside of these hours, please dial 112 for any medical assistance.

the region, such as festivals, concerts, theatre plays, exhibits, etc. It is open from 09.00 hrs. to 17.00 hrs and

Important reminder
The secretariat would like to draw participants' attention to the need to remain vigilant at the
main transportation hubs (e.g. train and bus stations and airports) before, during and after the
meeting.

when getting in and out of the trains and trams, including at the Cornavin Train Station.
