Caution
Tighten all fasteners until snug, then turn 1/8 - 1/4 turn more.
Warning
For safety purposes, lock cart’s front casters prior to assembling or working on
the cart.
Warning
To ensure proper servicing and avoid the possibility of physical injury, only
qualified personnel should attempt to service, perform installations, or make
authorized modifications to the ventilator. The user of this product shall have
sole responsibility for any ventilator malfunction due to operation or
maintenance performed by anyone not trained by Puritan Bennett staff.

1. Slide BPS assembly into BPS shelf rails toward rear of the unit while routing
the BPS harness through the square hole in the battery box (Figure 5). The
BPS assembly will have either one-hour battery or four-hour battery already
installed (per customer order). BPS with one-hour battery is P/N 10035146.
BPS with four-hour battery is P/N 10045582.
2. Fasten BPS assembly to battery box with two Phillips screws (P/N 10045976)
(Figure 6).

3. Install battery box bezel (P/N 10043372) by sliding along outside of BPS rails
and gently spreading bezel sides away from the rails and snapping into place
(Figure 7).

1. Apply battery indication label appropriate for the type of battery installed in the
BPS (four-hour or one-hour) to BPS bezel (Figure 8).

Warning
Ensure the battery indicator label matches the battery installed. Unexpected
power loss when operating on battery leading to significant patient injury
could occur if a label is applied stating the ventilator has a four-hour battery
when it actually has a one-hour battery installed.

The power switch actuator is shipped separately with the
charging circuit. Refer to the Ventilator Installation Instruction
sheet 4-070098-00 to install the power switch actuator.

Four-hour battery 1. Carefully prop the front of the cart (with locked casters) onto an elevated
surface (maximum height four inches).

3. Unfasten two Phillips screws and lift battery compartment up and tilt towards

4. If one-hour battery shield is in place, remove shield by removing two Phillips
screws and unfastening thumbscrews securing shield in place. This shield is
not necessary for four-hour battery use.
5. Install four-hour battery into battery carrier at base of cart exactly as shown in
Figure 15 and Figure 16.
Warning
Install the four-hour battery in the upright position with negative and
positive terminals oriented on the top surface of battery, with battery
label facing you (Figure 15 and Figure 16).

6. Connect battery cable to battery connector. Ensure the connection is secure.
7.
Lift battery carrier using two posts located at the front of the battery carrier.
Lift up and tilt toward back of unit. Battery carrier will drop down and latch.
8. Install two Phillips screws to secure in place (Figure 17).
9. Install battery cover.
10. Apply four-hour battery indicator label
to front of cart (Figure 18).
