| Safety instructions
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage
which is incurred by not using the video recorder in com-
pliance with the national guarantee conditions, safety
instructions or precautions.
First check if your supply voltage is the same as that writ-
ten on the type plate at the rear of the video recorder.
Caution! Do not open the casing, risk of electric shock. No
user serviceable parts are to be found inside. If the video
recorder is connected to the mains there are still parts of
it in operation. To switch off the video recorder com-
pletely you must disconnect it from the mains.
Ensure that air can circulate freely through the ventilation
openings of the video recorder. Do not place the video
recorder on soft surfaces (carpets, etc.).
Do not place the video recorder close to a source of heat
(radiator, etc.).
Do not expose this video recorder to rain or moisture.
Ensure that no objects or fluids pass through the ventila-
tion openings. If liquid is spilt into the video recorder,
disconnect the video recorder from the mains and consult
a qualified service technician.
| Precautions |
Before connecting the video recorder to the mains, it
should be allowed to acclimatise for at least three hours
after unpacking.
Do not use your video recorder immediately after moving
it from a cold to a warm location or vice versa, after
heating a cold room or under conditions of high humidity.
Ensure that there is a vertical distance of at least 20 cm
between the video recorder and the TV set.
Do not place the video recorder near appliances generat-
ing strong magnetic fields (e.g. motors, loudspeakers and
transformers).
Do not use the video recorder in dusty places or where it
may be subject to vibration. During heavy thunderstorms
we recommend disconnection of the mains supply and of
the aerial 1
Do not insert fingers or objects into the cassette loading
slot, as this might cause injury and/or damage to the
mechanism. Take special care with children.
If you transport your video recorder, be sure to remove the
video cassette and avoid sudden or violent jolts.
INSTALLATION: HOW DO |

Important!
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance
with the following code:
BLUE = NEUTRAL
BROWN = LIVE
To fit a mains plug:
Connect the BLUE wire in the mains lead to the NEUTRAL
terminal of the plug, marked ‘N’ or coloured black.
Connect the BROWN wire in the mains lead to the LIVE ter-
minal of the plug, marked ‘L’ or coloured red.
Do not make any connection to the terminal in the plug
which is marked by the letter “E” or by the safety earth sym-
bol or coloured green or green-and-yeliow.
If the mains plug (or adapter) contains a fuse, this should
have a value of 3A. If a plug without a fuse is used, the fuse
at the distribution board should not be greater than 5A.
Before replacing the plug cover, make certain that the cord
grip is clamped over the sheath of the lead, not only over
the two wires.

STORING TV CHANNELS
In chapter 1 you connected your TV set to the video re-
corder, so that you may play a cassette.
Since your video recorder has its own tuner you can use it
independent of your TV set. In order to be able to record TV
programmes, you first have to store each TV channel on
your video recorder.
It is possible to store up to 42 TV channels!
Each TV channel has to have a number. We shall call this
the ‘programme number”.
You have two possibilities:
¢ [f you do not know which channel number corresponds to
each particular TV channel: Read the section “Automatic
channel search’.
* [f you know which channel number corresponds to each
particular TV channel: Read the section ‘Direct channel stor-
age’.
Please note: If you store a TV channel on a programme num-
ber that has already been used, the number stored before
will be erased.
A tip: In rare cases it is possible that two TV channels have
the same number. If the video recorder does not find a TV
channel for this reason, you can a start a fine tuning. There-

Some information on cassettes: The length of the cassette
is printed on the cassette in minutes, e.g. a cassette with 'E
180" has a playing time of 180 minutes. The cassette length
is printed on the left of the narrow front part of the cassette
and may in some cases be somewhat longer than indicated.
oO Switch on the TV set and select the programme number
reserved for playing the video recorder.

HOW DO | PROGRAMME A
TIMED RECORDING?
In the following chapter we will guide you through the dif-
ferent possibilities of programming your video recorder. It
will switch itself on automatically, record the TV pro-
gramme you have chosen and then switch itself off auto-
matically
- all of this up to 1 month in advance.
What information is needed by the video recorder?
For every timed recording you must give the video recorder
the following information:
- the date on which the recording is to be made
- the programme number you stored for the TV channel
- the starting time of the recording
- the ending time of the recording
Information necessary for a timed recording is stored in
memory and is refered to as a TIMER block.
Your video recorder can store up to 6 different TIMER
blocks. One block is used for TODAY-programming.
For each entry the video recorder gives you 30 seconds.
Please pay attention that when storing several TIMER
blocks, the single stored times of the TIMER blocks do not
overlap each other. Your video recorder must first end a
TIMER block before it can execute the next one.
How to programme the video recorder:
With this video recorder you have a choice of 3 different
kinds of timed recording:
The most simple programming method is to record a pro-
gramme on the day the programme is transmitted - called
‘TODAY’- programming .
You can enter the data for the timed recording into the re-
mote control and finally transmit it to the video recorder.
We will refer to this possibility as ‘Programming on the
remote control’.
You can enter the data for the timed recording directly into
the video recorder. We will refer to this possibility as 'Pro-
gramming on the video recorder’.

| TODAY-programming |
If you want to make a recording TODAY, programming is
quite easy. You may enter the data for the recording either
on your video recorder or on the remote control. Only one
TODAY programmed recording can be made per day.
All you have to do is enter the programme number of the TV
channel and the starting time.
* The loaded cassette records until the end of the tape.

PARTICULAR FUNCTIONS
AND EXTRAS
Apart from the functions that have already been described,
your video recorder has other special functions and extras
designed to make operating the video recorder as conve-
nient as possible.
In the following chapter we will tell you more about them.
| Your video recorder as extended TV set (tuner mode) |
You may also use your video recorder for the reception of
TV channels (tuner). This is practical if your TV set has no
remote control or if it has less programme number loca-
tions than the number of the TV channels actually received.
To select tuner mode proceed as follows:
