The two-channel PAG Quasar is an ultra-compact unit that
incorporates a multi-chemistry fast-charger with a 50W
camera power supply, making it the ideal location charger.
The Quasar features two PAGlok connectors and is
specifically designed for charging Li-Ion and Ni-MH PAGlok
batteries. It incorporates two PP90 sockets that allow the
charging of PAG and Sony V-Mount Li-Ion and Ni-MH
batteries, via PAG charge adaptors. See Specification below
for the correct Charge Adaptor Model No.
The Quasar features a Li-Ion charge program that is
instigated by PAG intelligent Li-Ion batteries. For non-Li-Ion
batteries, the Quasar features Auto Charge-Rate Selection.
The charge rate is determined by the battery’s cell-chemistry,
state-of-charge, capacity, condition and cycle history.
The Quasar applies the best charge regime to achieve a fully
charged battery with the maximum capacity and cycle life.
Alternatively, the charge rate can be manually selected.
This PAG developed technology is unique to PAG chargers.
The PAG Quasar charges sequentially, and is so efficient that
in some cases two batteries can be fully-charged in less time
than it takes a simultaneous charger, which shares current
equally across the channels.
The Quasar is available with a built-in camera power supply
that provides a nominal 50W output, for powering a
professional broadcast camera. In this mode the screen
displays an accurate digital bar-graph of power consumption.
Recovery Charge:
This special program conditions the battery for
a period of one hour. The charger will then
automatically enter the Main Charge program,
which will run until the battery is fully charged.
This program also recovers PAG Li-Ion
batteries when the internal safety protection
circuit has tripped.

Self Test Program:
The internal microcomputer constantly
monitors the battery under charge or process
as well as the operation of the charger’s own
functions which will be shut down to a safe
condition should any of the tests fail.

Main Charge Program:
• Auto Mode - automatically selects the
correct charge current.
• Manual selection - 2A or 3A charge
• Li-Ion voltage-charge program only
available with PAG intelligent batteries or
suitable PAG intelligent adaptor. PAG
intelligent batteries automatically over-ride
the Auto Mode or Manual selection, and
control their own charge regime.
Output Protection:
Charger protected against short circuit, open
circuit, excess battery voltage and reverse
battery voltage.
AC Mains Failure Protection:
Should mains failure occur during a charging
program, or whilst the charger is connected, it
will shut down to a safe condition.
Designed to comply with electrical safety
standard EN60065 and UL6500.
NOTE: U.K. mains leads are fitted with a 1"
fuse to BS1362 rated 5A as standard.

Camera Power Supply (Model 9752 only):
The camera power supply function is operated
by connecting the camera to the charger’s
power supply output connector. Charging is
suspended whilst the power supply is in use.
13.5V to 15V DC, 3.7A (50W nominal), for
powering a camera only.
Output Connector:
XLR4F (pin 1 neg. pin 4 pos.).
User Interface:
PAG Quasar is simple to operate, with a large
backlit LCD display which shows the charge
rate, the charge program, battery cellchemistry, battery voltage, discharge capacity
and charge loaded. The front panel
incorporates a soft function switch for the
selection of programs and interrogation of
charge data.
