Thanksgiving Week Prep List
Three simple tips before you begin...
1. Print off this list and tape it to a kitchen cabinet. Keep it in plain sight so you easily can see what
needs to get done for the day and no day gets missed.
2. Enlist help. Don't attempt to tackle all this on your own. Items listed with a * can easily be delegated to
someone else - take advantage of help when it's offered!
3. Check things off as you complete them. There's nothing worse than duplicating work you've already
done, especially when time is limited in the first place!
4. Find even MORE tips for making this Thanksgiving as stress-free as possible HERE.

Sunday
o
Ingredients. Use the shopping list and double check the pantry, fridge and freezer for all ingredients.
Be sure to include items not on shopping list but needed for dinner, like butter for dinner rolls and salt and
pepper for seasoning at the table.
o
Turkey. If it's frozen, thaw the turkey. This can take 24-48 hours, so it's best to have it thawed and
ready, than frozen and too late!

o
Gravy. Before dinner, remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity. Roast vegetables as directed
during dinner. Continue preparing gravy through step 3 and store in the fridge overnight.
o
o
o
Produce. Wash with an all-natural produce wash, peel, chop and prep all vegetables that will be cooked.

Wednesday - morning
o
Sweet Potato Casserole. Cook the potatoes. The easiest option is this slow cooker method since it
keeps the stove and oven free and you don't have to be home, but you can boil or roast in the oven if you
prefer. When the potatoes are done, store them in a container with a lid, in the fridge.

Wednesday - night
o
Turkey. Wash, pat dry and prepare the turkey brine. Remove the giblets and neck from the cavity and
set aside for gravy. Brine the turkey and store in a cool place until Thursday.
Tip: If it's cold enough, consider storing the turkey outside in a secure container, or in the garage. This
will free up some space in the fridge!
o
Green Bean Casserole. Blanch green beans and prepare the mushroom sauce. Package separately and
store in the container with a lid in the fridge. Do not make the fried onions.
o
Pumpkin Pie. Prepare the pumpkin pie as directed and allow to cool to room temperature before storing
in the fridge. If you're short on time, make the filling and the pie crust earlier in the day, then assemble
and bake at night.
o
o
o
Autumn Rice Pilaf. Prepare recipe as directed, but omit the cranberries.
Dishes. Wash all the dishes and empty the dishwasher.
The Table. Set the table for dinner. This include centerpieces, plates, utensils and glasses. Designate a
place for serving ware, and set aside the pieces needed for dinner and dessert. In the same place, set
aside plates and utensils for dessert.
o
o
o
o
Clean. Do a quick-clean of the house for guests. This 15-minute method is perfect.
Delegate a place for coats, boots and purses.
