offline (VFD) and online double conversion
(VFI) technology, the B200 utilises digital
line interactive technology with a digitised
PWM-based controller. This produces a pure
sinewave output, which makes it perfect for
supporting critcal equipment.
The B200 UPS includes an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) as standard, making the UPS enormously
effective even in poor mains supply conditions. With its wide input voltage window the UPS regulates
a precise output voltage without switching to battery power, even if the input voltage fluctuates by as
much as 30% from normal.

The Borri B400 Rotation series has been designed to deliver maximum user flexibility. Its compact and
ergonomic rack mountable and floor standing design, makes it an ideal fit for many server cabinets,
particularly in 2kVA and 3kVA configuration.
This unique solution also comes with a large battery charger, which when installed as a rackmount system
allows for up to 12 additional battery modules for long runtime applications.
Further functionality is achieved through hot swappable internal batteries, which are located in a separate
enclosure to allow the user to safely change batteries without the need for a power down.

The Borri On-line double conversion technology (VFI classification,
Voltage Frequency Independent) isolates the output from all input
abnormalities and delivers a fully conditioned clean sine-wave output current.
The B8000FXS unit is designed to provide excellent output voltages
suited to very demanding applications with either 100% step load,
unbalanced, non-linear or modern IT loads. It also provides exceptional performance: with a power factor of up to 0.9 (lagging or leading), there is no requirement to de-rate the unit.

LOW THDi and POWER FACTOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCE
COMPATIBILITY with INPUT MAINS and GENERATORS
The BORRI B8000FXS UPS uses a modern input IGBT rectifier and Power Factor Control (PFC) technology capable of keeping the input current Total Harmonic
Distortion (THDi) at a very low level (<3%), as well
as keeping the input Power Factor very close to unit
(0.99), even when only small loads are applied.
The main benefits to be gained are that the UPS is
compatible with almost any input source, including
generator power. Because the B8000FXS works so efficiently, benefits can be gained in reduced cable sizes and
dramatically reduced running costs.
HIGH EFFICIENCY REDUCES OVERALL COST
of OWNERSHIP
Batteries are electro-chemical devices as such their performance
gradually decreases over time. To off set battery degradation the
B8000FXS incorporates a battery management function, Accurate
Battery Management, operating in accordance with the battery manufacturers’ specifications.
Following a UI battery characteristic curve the charger uses a constant current appropriate for the battery type, this control prevents
detrimental over charging. In addition to the float voltage a boost
charge can be set: this feature optimises the recharge time, in the
event of consecutive power outages over a short period of time, as
it is vital that as much energy can be restored to the batteries whilst
the power is on.
Accurate Battery Management also reduces the residual current ripple
which is one of the main causes of premature battery wear; the same
control circuit is employed to protect batteries against damaging
deep discharges.
Automatic temperature compensation can be incorporated resulting
in the batteries being charged under correct thermal conditions. This
feature greatly extends battery life. Further an integrated periodical
function is also included which tests and monitors battery health providing advance notification of potential battery problems.
FXS
The B8000FXS has a new SOL (Smart On-Line) function which enables
a total operating efficiency of between 94% and 98%. This mode referred to as ‘Intelligent ECO mode’ significantly reduces the utility
costs associated with operating a device of this type. Moreover, this
increase in efficiency results in the production of less waste heat,
minimising cooling/air-conditioning costs. This represents a double
saving to the energy conscious user. Manageability and compact design further decrease the cost of ownership in terms of installation
and maintenance.
The SOL func tion uses
continual monitoring techniques to review the input
characteristics of the supply.
This means that if the supply
line drops or fluctuates outside
of acceptable conditions the
UPS uses the internal inverter to
support the load. This is achieved
through a fast, fully static transition from VFD to VFI mode.

The B8000FXS UPS solution offers parallel options in both redundancy
and capacity modes, providing the possibility for both extra system
resilience and increased capacity.
The parallel control circuitry associated with these units is fully digital and acts on both active and reactive power on each of the three
output phases. This allows accurate load current sharing among the
UPS units even during transient conditions.
Parallel control is distributed between all units and communication
is achieved through the use of a CAN BUS connection loop. This has
the effect of producing a highly reliable system with “no single points
of failure”.
Intelligent design of the system connections allow for easy installation and easy future upgrades, this allows for upgrading the field
without difficulty.
In the modular arrangement, units can be added or removed “hot”
without load disturbances or the need to switch to bypass.
Smart Parallel functions facilitate the automatic switching off of
units where the total power requirements of the load is provided
by fewer than the total number of UPS units attached. . This is commonly known as ‘load based shutdown’ and maximises the efficiency
of the complete system by keeping the load on each module at an
optimum level.

The B8000FXS has a high power to space ratio, this results in a very
small footprint allowing the client to achieve maximum power in a
relatively small space. The unit is fitted with wheels making it easy to
move in and out of position.
The B8000FXS series is based on light power modules which can be withdrawn from the front of the machine. This feature makes for incredibly
easy servicing and dramatically reduces any potential down time.

The VFI Online double conversion topology implemented in this equipment offers built in inverter galvanic protection completely isolating
the output power from all the input power anomalies, delivering fully
conditioned pure sine-wave output. In this pure on-line mode the

Because of the technology and topology used, no additional losses are
generated to get low input harmonics or input/output galvanic isolation.

LOW THDi and POWER FACTOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCE
COMPATIBILITY with INPUT MAINS and GENERATORS
The BORRI B9600FXS model UPS uses a completely
new IGBT input rectifier design, encompassing an
advanced PFC (Power Factor Control) which is capable of keeping input current THDi (Total Harmonic
Distortion) at a level of less than 3% and the input
power factor within 1% of unity, even when only
small loads are applied.
The key benefits are that the UPS is therefore compatible with the upstream source, the mains or any
kind of generator and the transfer of power between
source and load is more efficient. This results in a saving in terms of
scale of sources, cables and protective devices.

The B9600FXS has a new SOL (Smart On-Line) function which enables
a total operating efficiency of between 96% and 98%. This mode referred to as “Intelligent ECO mode” significantly reduces the utility
costs associated with operating a device of this type. Moreover, this
increase in efficiency results in the production of less waste heat,
minimising cooling/air-conditioning costs.
This represents a double saving to the energy conscious user. The SOL
function uses continual monitoring techniques to review the input
characteristics of the supply. This means that if the supply line drops
or fluctuates outside of acceptable conditions the UPS uses the internal inverter to support the load. This is achieved through a fast, fully
static transition from VFD to VFI mode.
ACCURATE BATTERY MANAGEMENT
Batteries are electro-chemical devices, which store charge chemically; as such their performance degrades with time. The B9600FXS
performs ABM (Accurate Battery Management) according to battery
manufacturer requirements.
Following a UI characteristic curve, the charger charges at a constant
current appropriate for the battery type used, preventing detrimental
excess charging. In addition to the float voltage level, boost charge
can be set, optimising the recharge time when there is the possibility
of consecutive power outages within a short period.
ABM also reduces the residual ripple current (one of the causes of premature battery wear), as well as protecting the battery from damaging deep discharges.
Automatic battery temperature compensation charge voltage may be
implemented, charging the battery more appropriately and increasing battery life.
By means of the DCM (Dynamic Charging Mode) very long battery autonomies can be achieved without increasing total charge time. This
is achieved through the implementation of an intelligent increase in
maximum battery charge current when the maximum inverter power
is not being drawn by the load.
An integrated periodical battery testing function tests and monitors
battery health, providing advanced warning to guide the application
of preventive maintenance.
PARALLEL SYSTEMS for REDUNDANCY or
CAPACITY INCREASING with “HOT SWAP” MODULARITY
The B9600FXS UPS solution offers parallel options in both redundancy
and capacity modes, providing the possibility for both extra system
resilience and increased capacity.
The parallel control circuitry associated with these units is fully digital
B9600FXS
and acts on both active and reactive power on each of the three output phases. This allows accurate load current sharing among the UPS
units even during transient conditions.
Parallel control is distributed between all units and communication
is achieved through the use of a CAN BUS connection loop. This has
the effect of producing a highly reliable system with “no single points
of failure”.
Intelligent design of the system connections allow for easy installation
and easy future upgrades, this allows for upgrading the field without
difficulty.
In the modular arrangement, units can be added or removed “hot”
without load disturbances or the need to switch to bypass.
Smart Parallel functions facilitate the automatic switching off of units
where the total power requirements of the load is provided by fewer
than the total number of UPS units attached. This is commonly known
as ‘load based shutdown’ and maximises the efficiency of the complete
system by keeping the load on each module at an optimum level.
Two independent paralleled systems can be synchronized (Sync Control) in order to feed downstream STS’ for seamless transfers.

EASY INSTALLATION, OPERATION and MAINTENANCE
The B9600FXS can easily be moved within areas not wider than
1200mm, and can be installed up close to walls or other cabinets as
cooling air is expelled through vents on the top of the unit.
This new design gives the user a significant saving in floor utilisation. This
makes the B9600FXS an ideal solution where space is at a premium.
Despite this modern compact design, all critical components, are accessible from the front of the unit; this improves accessibility to allow
regular maintenance and reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
The B9600FXS also incorporates a unique back-feed power protection
system, where in the event of the output of the UPS being fed back
into the mains, the unit will immediately isolate itself. This in turn, removes the need for additional MCBs or other similar safety devices.

Borri patented Green Conversion technology and
battery control techniques
Green Conversion technology is based
on a patented control algorithm,
managing the battery-inverter
subsystem in order to enhance double
conversion efficiency and extend
battery life.
When a battery is charged and the
mains are stable, it is protected
from the DC-link ripple by a Green
Conversion solid state dynamic
battery switch, acting as a digital filter
eliminating the chief cause of battery
ageing.
Green Conversion inverter control
enhances system efficiency by
reducing IGBTs commutation losses.
During mains outages Green
Conversion controls the dynamic
battery switch SCRs and the battery
feeds the inverter.
A battery is charged controlling the
dynamic battery switch diodes on an
intermittent basis, as per battery
manufacturers recommendations, or
after a discharge has occurred.
UHE technology for maximum efficiency
Ultra High Efficiency (UHE) technology
is the Borri off-line mode.
Based on a sophisticated control
technique, in UHE mode 99.46%
efficiency is achieved, whilst protecting
ICT loads from power quality loss.
Ultra High Efficiency normal mode of
operation: UHE control logic protects
critical loads by monitoring power
mains quality, while feeding them via
the static bypass line.
Rectifier and inverter are in “deep
stand-by”. Efficiency is 99.46% .
Ultra High Efficiency on-line mode:
the inverter feeds power to critical
loads whenever mains quality is
outside tolerance limits.
Ultra High Efficiency interactive mode
(VHE): If input mains stability and
reliability is outside preset limits, this
mode of operation is activated. Loads
are fed by the mains and the inverter
is turned on and off by the control
logic to stabilize UPS output and the
rectifier keeps full battery capacity.
That’s what we call Very High
Efficiency (VHE) mode. Efficiency is
97%, due to the transient inverter and
rectifier contribution to overall losses.
ICT loads have to have a grade of
immunity to power disturbances to
be compliant with EMC international
standards and product development
guidelines (i.e. ITIC/CBEMA curve).
Borri UHE technology protects ICT
loads by monitoring mains quality,
enabling on-line operation whenever
disturbances approach load immunity
limits. The maximum of system
efficiency is thus achieved taking
advantage of ICT load’s built-in
immunity to power quality issues,

help diagnose alarms and potential fault conditions. When instructed the software performs an automated safe power
down of the protected servers and PCs.

This cabinet is designed to house 6 units of power module
10kVA/20kVA. It is an ideal solution for a medium load that
requires redundancy or the possibility to expand the power
in the future.
Its winning advantages against any conventional parallel
UPS involve parallel configuration N+1, hot swappable and
scalability, as well as easy maintenance. It is possible to
expand the power to 360kVA by connecting up to three
cabinets in parallel.
MUST 100–200

Ultimate Availability for Mission Critical Operations
The datacenter constitutes the critical load in the daily
operations of the organization. Cost of downtime due
to critical load failure is extreme and runs between
USD4,000 to USD6,000 per minute or even more.
To achieve the highest availability possible for the
datacenter, it is vital for the most reliable products or
solutions supported by the shortest or even zero Mean
Time To Repair (MTTR).
In addition, the Modulon DPH has a wide input voltage
range of -45% to +25% and narrow output voltage
regulation window to cope with harsh utility conditions,
seamlessly providing stable power supply to the load. In
the event of overload, the Modulon DPH supports 125%
overload protection for up to ten minutes and one minute
at 150%.
The Modulon DPH assures exceptional reliability
and maximizes uptime to deliver six-nines availability
contributing to the best-in-class practice to reduce Total
Cost of Ownership (TCO).
The fully fault-tolerant design provides self redundancy
to the control mechanism, cooling and power modules.
Full control logic allows the system to self-synchronize
in the event of main module failure and automatically
switch to the backup for assured continuous operation.
Furthering the advantages, the hot-swappable functionality
of critical components and modules improve the
serviceability of the UPS system thereby reducing MTTR
close to zero to assure maximum uptime and ultimate
availability in the datacenters.
As illustrated, the Modulon DPH can run under inverter
mode and bypass mode to sustain uninterruptible power
supply to critical load:
In the event of STS module removal, the Modulon
DPH still functions under inverter mode (normal mode
without bypass utility backup). During failure in normal
mode, such as over temperature, overload, short circuit,
abnormal output voltage, or low battery, the Modulon
DPH smoothly transfers over to bypass mode.
