Before Starting Installation
NOTE
Kit parts are prefaced by the word kit and appear in
bold print.
1. Carefully read all warnings and instructions completely before beginning.

NOTE
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING
Before you install this kit, read and understand all
instructions, warnings, cautions, and notes in this
instruction sheet and in the vehicle owner’s manual.
If parts are missing from kit, please be prepared to provide the following information:
1. Name of purchase location
2. Bar Code on side of box
3. Date above bar code
4. Date inside box cover
5. Inspector # from inside box cover
3. Only install this kit on the vehicle for which it is
specified.
CAUTION
Proper installation of this kit requires knowledge of the
factory recommended procedures for removal and
installation of original equipment components. We recommend that the factory shop manual and any special
tools needed to service your vehicle be on hand during
the installation. Installation of this kit without proper
knowledge of the factory recommended procedures
may affect the performance of these components and
the safety of the vehicle. We strongly recommend that
a certified mechanic familiar with the installation of similar components install this kit.
WARNING
Many states and municipalities have laws restricting
bumper heights and vehicle lifts. Consult state and
local laws to determine if the changes you intend to
make to the vehicle comply with the law.
4. Park vehicle on a clean, dry, flat, level surface and
block tires so vehicle cannot roll in either direction.

1. Disconnect both battery cables. Disconnect negative
cable first, then positive cable.

WARNING
Always wear eye protection when operating power
tools.
WARNING
Before you install this kit, block the vehicle tires to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
NOTE
Performance Automotive Group recommends using
the Loctite® supplied in the kit on the threads of all kit
nuts and bolts unless specified otherwise in these
instructions.
Lift Vehicle
1. It may be neccessary to lift vehicle vehicle to complete kit HD transmission cross member properly.
Prepare to Remove Factory Cross Member
1. Remove Factory Skid Plate Bolts and Nuts
a. Using a 18mm socket, support & carefully
remove three factory 12mm bolts from transmission skid plate.
b. Continue by carefully removing two factory
12mm bolts from the gas tank skid plate.
e. Use a hydralic jack or screw jack to support the
transmission and transfer case prior to removing
transmission cross member.
f.
Place the jack under the base of the transfer
case with a block of wood and slowly lift the
assembly from the cross member. (Note: Be
sure to lift the transmission mount off of the
cross member by about a 1/4” to remove any
load from the cross member.)
c. Support & carfully remove four factory 12mm
bolts from transfer case skid plate.

g. Using a 18mm socket & wrench, remove two
12mm bolts and nuts from each side of cross
member.

d. Using a 16mm socket, remove three factory
transmission mounting nuts from center of transmission cross member.

h. Using a pry bar on drivers side of cross member;
gently free cross member from frame mount
until cross member is free from transmission
mounting studs & frame mounts.

Prepare to Install Kit
1. Install Kit HD Cross Member.
a. Using four factory 12mm bolts & nut, install kit
HD cross member into frame mounts and
transmission mounting studs. (Note: Be sure to
install kit HD cross member with notched end
at drivers side frame mount.)
b. Using a 16mm socket, reinstall three factory
transmission mounting nuts into center of kit HD
cross member.

c. Using a 18mm socket, support and reinstall two
factory 12mm bolts into transmission skid plate
at frame mounts. Use one kit 1/2” button head
bolt & washer to mount transmission skid plate
to kit HD cross member.
d. Continue by installing two kit 1/2” button head
bolt & washer through the gas tank skid plate
and into kit HD cross member.
e. Using a 18mm socket, support and reinstall two
factory 12mm bolts through transfer case skid
plate at frame and gas tank skid mounts. Use
two kit 1/2” button head bolt & washer to
mount transmission skid plate to kit HD cross
member.

1. Connect both battery cables. Connect positive cable
first, then negative cable.

1. Check all fasteners to ensure they are tight.
WARNING
Retorque all fasteners after 500 miles and after off road
use. All body lift components should be visually
inspected and fasteners retorqued during routine vehicle servicing.
