SPECIFICATIONS ADDENDUM
MEETS SPECIFICATIONS?
R. V-BOX SPREADER UNIT
TASKFORCE or EPOKE Combination Granular & Liquid Ice
Control System or approved equal, capable of hauling and
spreading free flowing granular materials. This unit shall
consist of a stainless steel body, rear discharge conveyor,
spinner disc, power drive, and all components necessary to
make a complete operating unit. Bidders must submit with
their proposal complete specifications on the unit they
propose to furnish.
1. MINIMUM BODY REQUIREMENTS
Inside hopper length to be 10 feet with 12’ conveyor system

All hardware is stainless steel.
Formed 304SS sub-frame for spreader body & liquid tanks
which include telescopic legs for ease of installation and
removal. Subframe and leg kit shall be fully constructed of
grade 304 stainless steel. The leg kit shall be capable of
supporting an empty spreader.
There shall be rollers on both sides of the sub-frame front
and rear to guide the spreader into the dump body.
Provide dump body hold-down kit with ratchet straps and
stainless steel tailgate latch.
2. MINIMUM CONVEYOR and DRIVE REQUIREMENTS
Dual 7” diameter variable pitch auger conveying system.
The augers must be counter rotating to help prevent
bridging of material.
Each auger is driven at the rear by a 24.7 CIR hydraulic
motor.

Gearcase shall be coupled to the end of the auger shaft via
a 7/8” cross bolt.
Auger shaft connect at front with a 2” 2 bolt flange bearing
Auger shafts utilize a polyurethane bushing at both ends of
each auger to eliminate seizing and ensure ease of
maintenance.
Hydraulic inter-lock auger shut-off system to shut augers
down when cover grates are opened—interlock plumbed at
factory
3/8” rod on 3/8” rod top grate screens with anti-freeze
hinges are required equipment with auger conveyor v-box
units.
Extend grease tubes to rear for front auger bearings.
3. 304 STAINLESS STEEL DIRECTCAST SPINNER
ASSEMBLY
Task-Force shall be equipped with the Direct Cast spinner
option.
Direct cast spinner system shall be capable of being
adjusted electronically in the cab to spread from 1 lane left,
center, or right; 2 lanes left or right; or up to 3 lanes at one
time.
The Direct Cast will utilize a traditional upper chute
weldment with (4) position height adjustment. Upper chute
shall be constructed fully of 304 grade stainless steel.
The material will then enter the focus chute which is
constructed of 304 grade stainless steel. The rear side of
the focusing chute shall have (2) nozzles which provide
capability to apply liquid to the granular product prior to
entering the spinner assembly for discharge.
The focusing chute shall mount to the spinner disc
assembly via a pivoting collar. The collar shall allow the
spinner assembly to rotate left and right.
Pivoting of the 304ss spinner assembly shall be achieved
through a single 1.5-6.5, 1.0 Double acting cylinder.
The pivoting cylinder shall have the capability to accept a
linear transducer which will provide feedback to the in-cab
controller on current position.
The pivoting cylinder and transducer shall be designed so
the transducer can be replaced without the need to the
cylinder being replaced as well.
The Direct Cast spinner disc shall be driven by a 4-bolt 2.8
CIR hydraulic motor.
Spinner motor shall have an integral sensor capable of
providing spinner disc feedback to the in-cab console.

The spinner disc shall be constructed of stainless steel with
stainless steel fins. Fins shall be in a counter clockwise
rotation. Diameter of disc shall be 24”. The spinner disc
shall be of a minimum of 90 durometer urethane.
4. PAINT:
All stainless surfaces are to be cleaned with an acid solution
to remove oil residue and weld discoloration
Non-stainless steel parts to be painted black
304 stainless steel components are unpainted
5. REAR LADDER AND REAR CAMERA SAFETY
SYSTEM
Install stainless steel rear ladder, full color rear view camera
system with color monitor, lens wash, automatic infrared
mode for night operation, the complete system built to MIL
SPEC standards.
6. HYDRAULIC PRE-WETTING SYSTEM
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
All components are mounted in a sealed, corrosion
resistant, molded fiberglass cover & housing with stainless
hinge
Hydraulic drive motor is 1.21 CIR geroler type.
Liquid pump is a 10.5 GPM gear type of corrosion resistant
materials with carbon graphite bearings.
All tubing is stainless steel with plated fittings. (Flexible
hoses not acceptable.)
A 20 mesh suction strainer shall be installed prior to brass
liquid pump.
An in-line turbine style liquid flow meter rated of .5 to 5 GPM
shall provide liquid flow information to the Hydraulic Control
System for precise gal/ton metering. Pre-wet flow-meter
shall have external pickup.
METERING ORIFICE:
Variable displacement orifice provides an extended range of
material outputs located in spinner chute.
2 variable displacement orifices 22” wide, vented internal at
top of spinner chute.
LIQUID ANTI-ICING SYSTEM:
System shall be capable of dispensing liquid De-Icers at a
rate of 60 gallons per lane mile at 60 mph.

MEETS SPECIFICATIONS?
Spreader shall have a provision for a stainless steel liquid
injection tube which is to be located on the underside of the
inverted vee. The injection tube will provide liquid which will
be agitated by the spreader augers to create a salt slurry
mixture. The injection tube shall be capable of saturating the
dry material with up to 20% liquid by weight. The liquid for
the slurry generation process shall come from the liquid
prewet system. There shall be a ball valve to control flow
from the prewet to either the slurry injection line or to the
Direct Cast spinner prewet nozzles.
RESERVOIR:
(2) 400 gallon x .375” wall polyurethane liquid tanks
installed each side, for a total liquid capacity of 800 gallons.
400 gallon tanks include sump for complete drainage,
minimizes pump cavitations.
Gallon markings shall be provided on one end of the tank.
Corrosion resistant shut off valves.
Reservoir tank is angle formed to allow for mounting on the
side of a slip-in v-box
Supplied with bulk tank fill quick couplings.
Internal baffles are molded into tank & designed to wrap
around vertical side braces of spreader for increased
capacity
The system must be capable of self-loading liquids from a
ground based tank or mobile nurse tank.
LIQUID PUMP/ VALVES/PLUMBING
The liquid chemical pump must be a 210 gpm centrifugal
pump with 2” suction and 1-1/2” pressure ports.
The hydraulic motor shall be integral with liquid pump. The
hydraulic motor will require no more than 13 gpm @ 2100
psi, and must be capable of working on fixed gear pump
systems or load sensing systems.
Replaceable screen line strainer.
Anti-Ice Flow meter shall be Polypropylene manifold type w/
external pick up. An in-line turbine style liquid flow meter
rated at 5-100 GPM
A filter will be installed after the pump to protect the flow
meter, nozzles, and valves.
All hydraulic hoses and wiring shall be routed away from
pinch points, sharp corners, and heat sources.
Check valves shall be installed at boom to minimize run-on
and improve start up response.
Fittings connecting all major components shall be glass fill
polypropylene, manifold style.

A sub-frame with rear framework shall be provided for the
mounting of the pump, valves and spray bars.
As part of the sub-frame assembly, an adjustable 304
stainless steel center spray bar with 8 solid stream nonadjustable nozzles shall be provided, the spray bar
assembly must be adjustable from 14 to 20 inches of the
road surface.
A spray bar for the left and the right lane shall be provided;
the bar shall have 4 adjustable solid stream nozzles and
shall be placed no higher than 14-20 inches off the road
surface. 1-1/2” stainless steel trunnion style ball with poly
housing valve shall be provided for activation and deactivation of the selected spray bar. Cab operated.
Motorized 1-1/2” stainless steel trunnion style with poly
housing valve shall be provided for activation and deactivation of the selected spray bar. Cab operated.
1-1/2” reinforced EPDM hose shall be provided for all liquid
de-icer pressure lines.
MISCELLANEOUS
There shall be a rear stainless steel ladder.
Stainless steel bumper to protect the spinner assembly.
