Frequently asked questions

To measure AC/DC current, open the jaw of the clamp meter and fully enclose the conductor you want to measure. Select the appropriate range for the current you are measuring, then press the trigger to take a reading. The reading will be displayed on the LCD display.

To measure AC/DC voltage, connect the black test lead to the negative (COM) terminal and the red test lead to the positive (V) terminal. Select the appropriate range for the voltage you are measuring, then connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit under test. Read the voltage measurement on the LCD display.

To measure resistance, connect the black test lead to the negative (COM) terminal and the red test lead to the positive (V) terminal. Select the appropriate range for the resistance you are measuring, then touch the test probe tips across the circuit or component under test. The resistance reading will be displayed on the LCD display.

To measure capacitance, connect the black test lead to the negative (COM) terminal and the red test lead to the positive (V) terminal. Select the appropriate range for the capacitance you are measuring, then touch the test probe tips across the capacitor under test. Read the capacitance value on the LCD display.

To measure frequency, connect the black test lead to the negative (COM) terminal and the red test lead to the positive (V) terminal. Select the Hz or % duty cycle mode, then touch the test probe tips across the circuit under test. Read the frequency or % duty cycle on the LCD display.

To measure temperature, connect the temperature probe to the negative (COM) terminal and the positive (V) terminal, making sure to observe the correct polarity. Touch the probe head to the part whose temperature you wish to measure. Keep the probe touching the part under test until the reading stabilizes (about 30 seconds). Read the temperature on the LCD display. The digital reading will indicate the proper decimal point and value.

To replace the battery, open the battery compartment by removing the rear screw. Replace the battery with a new 9V battery, then reassemble the meter.
