The new v2 models have been engineered and over-built to suit the most demanding applications, where ultimate durability and highest bass output from a reduced box volume are required. All the knowledge gained from the first NEO woofers has been taken into consideration, to create a new v2 line, exceeding the benchmarks of their ancestors by a wide margin. The cavity under the spider is vented by windows in the basket, considerably improving the cooling of the voice coil by air exchange. Improved cooling of the coil helps to reduce power compression at high input power loads and it also extends the speaker’s life-span. Furthermore, back-venting the basket prevents pressure from building up under the spider assembly due to trapped air, and this directly translates to more linear cone excursion and less noise. ADVANCED NEODYMIUM MAGNET SYSTEM A neodymium rare earth magnet drives the NEOv2 woofer models. Very compact in its physical dimensions, yet highest magnetic flux density in the air gap. The second generation of the NEOv2 magnet motor has been optimized to allow higher cone excursion based on extending the length of the return structure. Due to the advanced FEA optimized design, the NEOv2 magnet motor is free from fringe fields and flux modulation of the coil. All this means, the new v2 models give you even more bass, more power handling and more sound quality than its NEO predecessors. CELLULOSE-NOMEX™ CONE The NEOv2 woofers deploy a Cellulose-Nomex™ cone, a new material formula that impresses with unparalleled stiffness at low weight and superior internal damping. The new cone material gives you stronger bass output and lower distortion, as the stiff cone – acting WARRANTY EMPHASER Inc. Wyoming, Michigan U.S.A. warrants this NEOv2 woofer to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the original date of purchase, contingent upon installation being performed or approved by an authorized EMPHASER dealer. EMPHASER Inc. will at its own discretion repair or replace any mechanically defective NEOv2 woofer at no charge, during the warranty period. This warranty is limited to the original purchaser. This warranty is limited in duration to a period of two years, beginning with the date of the original purchase at retail. SANTOPRENE RUBBER SURROUND A tear resistant, long-throw Santoprene™ half-roll surround yields a precise alignment of the cone body, and it guarantees totally linear suspension characteristics. Santoprene™ is the most durable spider material available today, it is heat, UV and solvent resistant and keeps its favorable mechanical properties in a very wide temperature range. SURROUND STITCHED TO CONE The surround has been stitched to the cone, to take away unnecessary strain from the adhesive that is holding the surround to the cone. The stitching process prevents the two parts from separating, a good additional insurance for best longevity of the NEOv2 woofers. 2-LAYER WOUND COPPER VOICE COIL A 2-layer copper voice coil with impressive winding height can dissipate more heat, than other conventional multilayer coil types. Large winding heights stand for huge X-max, high thermal power handling and a fully controlled cone motion. RED KAPTON™ FORMER Kapton is ultra durable, heat resistant and also features good internal damping. Kapton thermally isolates the cone from the coil. The waste heat of the coil can not creep up the former, preventing thermal degradation of the glue joint that attaches the cone to the former. Furthermore, Kapton keeps its shape und does not expand or contract when exposed to rapid temp. changes – and it is a “quiet” material too, damping the internal vibrations of the coil to a good extent. BLACK NOMEX™ SPIDER A black Nomex™ spider keeps the coil of the NEOv2 driver in perfect alignment, and it also guides the cone assembly to its max. cone excursion. Spiders made of black Nomex™ stand out with highest durability, most linear damping action and best resistance against mechanical aging. CIRCLE ARRAY COOLING VENTS The magnet return structure features a circle array of vent holes. The technical function of these vents is to increase the air flow in the return structure, getting rid of excess heat in direct relation to the power input fed to the NEOv2 woofer. The stream of air pumped over the voice does significantly reduce power compression. INSULATED TINSEL LEAD WIRES High quality tinsel lead wires support high current flow and the PVC sleeving helps to counteract breakage and rapid degradation of the leads when the woofer is punished with high power input loads. The tinsel lead wires are mechanically suspended, to protect the soldering points from vibrations. This is the weak spot of most long-throw woofer designs and special care has been taken to guarantee reliability and longevity of the NEOv2 line. Make sure all joints are well sealed, since the woofer can only reach optimum performance when it is mounted to an airtight cabinet! EMPHASER Laboratories recommend to use the NEOv2 woofers in combination with sealed, vented and bandpass enclosures. The NEOv2 woofers are not suited for free-air applications. To obtain the best possible performance of the NEOv2 woofer in your car audio system, make sure to follow the stated basic enclosure suggestions listed below. The enclosures should be damped according to their function principle: The sealed enclosure must be filled with approx. 75 to 85% with polyfill (bonded acrylic fiber). The inner walls of the ported enclosure should be lined out with structured gray PU-foam. The sealed chamber of the bandpass enclosure has to be filled with polyfill, while the ported chamber remains free of damping material. Each box tuning principle will give you good performance, while each of them has PRO’s and CON’s: The sealed enclosure is your best choice, if the available space is tight and you are looking for a truly balanced bass reproduction with good low end extension. Ported boxes ask for bigger net volumes, but also offer a considerably better overall efficiency and much higher max. dB outputs (higher SPL!). Bandpass systems stand for medium box volume requirements, excellent low end extension and high SPL, yet the cabinets are more difficult to build. If the provided enclosure suggestions listed below, are not applicable to your vehicle, contact your authorized EMPHASER dealer to ask for further assistance. Out of the box, the NEOv2 woofers are very stiff. To achieve optimum low bass response, both NEOv2 models will need approximately two weeks of daily playing. After that period of time, the suspension system has reached its equilibrium and will remain stable for the entire life-span of this product. The broken-in NEOv2 sub will play smoother and exhibit a stronger bass performance, as well as greater bass extension!
