Aerial Cable Damper
Diamond’s Aerial Cable Damper is designed to use the force of the wind to aerodynamically reduce the
movement and oscillation of aerial cable. Intended for use on aerial cables of 18 to 150 pairs.
•
A.C. Damper plate is made of high-grade aluminum alloy with 25,000 psi tensile strength.
•
Lashed cable supports are made of corrosion resistant stainless steel with 80,000 psi tensile strength.
•
“D” lashing clamps are made of high quality steel mechanically galvanized to meet ASTM specification
B695.
Diamond’s A.C. Damper Kit Consists of the Following:
1 pc. A.C. Damper Plate.
2 pc. Stainless Steel lashed cable supports, 16" lg. (34–08922)
3 pc. “D” Lashing clamps (26–09010) Installation sheet enclosed.
Cable Guards are not included due to variable cable sizes which can be accommodated.
Installation
1. Select proper size cable guard for application.
2. Place guard on cable over horizontal slots in A.C. Damper.
3. Insert lashed cable supports through horizontal slots. Use two wraps and secure by bending end over top
of buckle. Allow 1/4" clearance between cable and top of A.C. Damper. *A.C.D. must be allowed to swing
free with the wind.
4. Position lashing clamps inside lashed cable supports and secure. Lashing clamps will restrict longitudinal
movement to cable area protected by cable guards.
5. Placement – The number of A.C.D’s varies with length of cable span and terrain. The following is
recommended as a guide for maximum effectiveness.
Level Ground – Locate at span’s center for 125–170' Spans (Fig. 1). On spans 170–300' Locate two
A.C.D.’s each one fourth the total span length from either pole. (Fig. 2)
Steep Grade – Locate one tenth total span length from pole at lower level on 125–170'
spans. (Fig. 3)
On spans 170–300' two A.C.D.’s are required. Locate one at one fourth the total span
length from lower pole. Locate second A.C.D. halfway between first A.C.D. and uphill
pole. (Fig. 4)
*Note – When installing on Fig. 8 cable A.C.D. should be secured to exposed strand.

PowerShaft CAM ACTION® Anchors
No–Wrench Cam Action® Screw Anchors
These anchors can be installed either manually or with power driven equipment. Manual installation is
accomplished by inserting a bar through the eye and screwing the anchor down. Installations with portable or
vehicle mounted installing equipment is accomplished by means of adapters. The eye dimensions are the same as
shown on the Threaded Forged–Eye.

Description
Expanding Anchors*
Black Painted (Less Rods)
The multi-blade, one-piece top plate expands upon impact into undisturbed earth to form a cone shaped square,
which distributes the anchor’s holding power over a wide area, building up compression against an inverted
pyramid of earth. The expanding anchor retains its shape under extremely heavy loads because the base plate
supports the blades in the middle and distributes the load uniformly over the blades. Reinforcing ribs provide
additional strength.

Anchors
Threaded Forged-Eye Anchor Rods
Hot Dip Galvanized
Joslyn forged Thimbleye, Twineye and Tripleye anchor rods are used for guying with expanding, cross plate and
cone anchor as well as “Deadman” log anchor assemblies. All rods are threaded 3-1/2" and are assembled with a
heavy square nut.

Rock Anchors
Hot Dip Galvanized (Complete with Rods)
The malleable iron expanding rock anchor fits into a hole 1-7/8" or 2-3/8" in diameter, expands and wedges firmly
against solid rock. When the anchor is expanded, the greater the pull on the rod, the harder the anchor becomes
wedged. No lead, concrete or grouting equipment is necessary. Furnished complete with 3/4" and 1" rods, 15" to 8'
in length. Anchors are painted black and the rods are hot dip galvanized.

Cable Extension Arm
These Cable Extension Arms are used to support a cable at a distance from the pole.
The messenger cable is held by a standard J1096 suspension clamp which is bolted up
against the underside of the two angles by a 5/8" machine bolt. This machine bolt is fitted
between the legs of the two angles and can be adjusted for proper extension from the
pole. Mounting is accomplished by a 5/8" or 3/4" machine bolt at the upper position and
two 1/2" lag screws at the lower. Mounting bolts and suspension clamp must be ordered
separately.

Extension Arm
The all steel model 1175 extension arm is zinc plated to prevent corrosion. Eight inches of vertical pole clearance
are required for installation. It can be installed on all type of poles. Slots are provided for banding to cement, steel,
or fiberglass poles. For mounting to wood poles, standard bolt holes are available for use of 5/8" thrubolt and two
1/2" x 4" drive type lag bolts, not supplied.

Fiberglass Cable Extension Brackets
Cable Extension Brackets that provide adequate support for communication cables placed some distance from
the pole to provide the desired clearance. The cable is attached by a standard PA268 or PA273 suspension clamp
which is secured to the bolt in the end casting by a 5/8" nut. Fiberglass rods used in the brackets with our
castings are also manufactured under stringent specifications. All rods are coated with a polyurethane enamel for
ultra violet protection. Brackets of the 7562-5 Series are available in any length required.

Hot Dip Galvanized
Joslyn Thimbleye® bolts are forged in two styles, straight and bent at a 45° angle. They are used for attaching
guys and deadends to poles and crossarms, eliminating the need for thimbles, strain plates, guy
hooks and extra strand.
Eye Dimensions are the same as for Thimbleye® anchor rod. Bolt length is measured from
below the eye to the last thread. All Thimbleye® bolts have cone points and are roll threaded,
except for the J22551 which has a gimlet point. 5/8" diameter bolts have a minimum ultimate
strength of 12,400 lbs; 3/4" bolts have a minimum ultimate strength of 18,350 lbs.

Trap Sleeve Bracket
DIAMOND’s CATV Trap Sleeve Bracket is designed to mount up to eight (8) trap sleeves to the strand.

Made of high quality steel and aluminum.
Steel parts are galvanized to meet ASTM specifications A153 and B695.
“W” Bracket and Adapter Plate supplied with captive mounting hardware. Both can be mounted
to Slotted Tap Bracket (optional) or Standard 1020A Tap Bracket. (29-19943).
Nuts supplied with external tooth lock washers to prevent loosening.
Windowed flanges on “W” Bracket permit Trap identification from ground if clear trap sleeves
are used.
Adapter Plate can be supplied with a longer captive bolt and nut to permit the addition of a
second level adapter plate and two additional “W” Brackets for an eight sleeve version.
Adapter Plate and “W” Bracket have anti-rotational features.
Spring Steel “W” Brackets include snap-in feature suitable for most trap security sleeves
(7/8' to 1- 1/8' diameter).
Trap sleeves are balanced on strand whether 2, 4 or 8 sleeve versions are used.

Service Mast Bracket
Hot Dip Galvanized
The J0590 Service Mast Bracket is used with a service wedge clamp to attach the neutral wire of drop cable to the
service mast. The front strap is rounded to prevent damaging the bail of the service wedge clamp. This bracket
clamps to 1-1/4" to 3" pipe. A specially designed slot on the end of the front strap permits installation of the bracket
without removing the bolts, then captures the square carriage bolt shoulder to prevent it from turning or slipping out
after installation. The J26158 Service Mast Bracket provides the same application as the J0590, but the J26158 can
also be used with a telecommunications drop wire clamp. This bracket will also clamp to 1-1/4" to 3" pipe.

Cable Support Bracket
Hot Dip Galvanized
The J8236 Cable Support Bracket is for use with self-supporting rural telephone cable. It is attached to the pole with
two 3/8 x 4" lag screws on straight runs and angles of less than 35°. For corner pulls and on angles of more than
35°, a 3/8" carriage bolt is substituted in the lower hole.

Tap Bracket
DIAMOND’s Aluminum Tap Bracket is used in CATV drop installation to secure a tap to messenger strand when it
cannot be attached directly. The unit is offset below the strand preventing cable abrasion on the equipment
housing.
Features
• 2-1/2" size (distance between strap and tap).
• Bracket and clamping plates are made of high grade aluminum alloy with 45,000 psi tensile strength.
• Bolt and nut are made of high tensile strength steel. Mechanically galvanized to meet ASTM specifications
A153 and B695.
• Square hole in bracket prevents bolt rotation when the nut is tightened.
• Tap mounting hole accepts up to a 5/16" bolt (max.).

Bantam Tool
The Bantam Tool C075 is designed for use in light duty banding applications such as
insulation, cable bundling, and sign hanging.
With the unique 3-way handle, the Bantam Tool can be used in the pistol grip position for

Joslyn Wall Straps are used for guying and deadending messenger strand to building walls. The J7695 and J7696
terminate strand at building corners as illustrated. Both are made of 1-3/8 x 11/32" steel with a forged thimbleye.
The J7695 has two and the J7696 has three 9/16" diameter holes spaced 8" from center-to-center. The J7692,
formed from 1-7/32 x 15/64" steel, is used similarly to terminate strand at a right angle to the building wall. A wire
rope thimble is recommended to protect the strand.

“F” Span Clamp
Thread the drop wire or distribution cable through the hook. A tree pruner handle is attached to the “F” Span
Clamp by means of a special wrench. The clamp is then raised to strand height with the tree
pruner handle and placed on the strand. Turn the pruner handle from the ground. This will
activate a mechanical clamping action which will secure the clamp to the messenger strand.
Once clamp is secured, remove pruning handle by rotating counter-clockwise.

Clamps
Cable Suspension
Hot Dip Galvanized
Joslyn Cable Suspension Clamps are used with through bolts, which serve as a clamping member, and are shaped
to securely grip messenger wire to the pole. A nut and square washer is used between the clamp and the pole to
provide proper spacing. The J1095 is used for light cables and consists of the clamping members only. A 5/8"
through bolt tightens the clamp on the wire as well as to the pole. The J1096 and J25088.1 three–bolt clamps are
used for heavier cables and are furnished with a 5/8" through bolt hole. The J25088.1 keeper plate is flat.
The J26049 three–bolt clamp is also used for heavier cables and is furnished with a 3/4" through bolt hole.

Joslyn Crossover Clamps for CATV or Telephone Cables are used to clamp two messengers where they cross at
right angles. The J7930 Drop Forged Clamp sections are 1-1/2" wide and 3-1/4" long. Two 1/2" diameter bolts have
oval shoulders to prevent turning when tightening. The J25564 Clamps are 1-1/2" wide and 3-1/2" long. Two 3/8"
diameter carriage bolts and nuts are installed in the square holes of the clamp providing a “locking action.” Unique

The DIAMOND Figure–8 Span Clamp is used in CATV and telephone drop installations to provide drop wire take–offs
along a span of figure–8 aerial cable or multi–pair distribution wire, relieving tension on the drop wire at this point. It
is also used as a pull off to hold figure–8 aerial cable or multi–pair distribution wire away from obstacles in the line of
aerial construction. This application eliminates the use of tree guards. This Clamp is a multi–purpose clamp. The 3/
8" hook has a deep bend and extended shank to retain a drop wire clamp or wire grip so it cannot slip off. And it has

Crossover Clamp
The DIAMOND Crossover Clamp is used in telephone and CATV aerial construction to clamp two 1/4" diameter
stranded messengers at right angle crossings. This Clamp is designed with a greater clamping area than
conventional crossover clamps to provide more positive clamping action and prevent frictional wear on the messenger
cables. The symmetrical top and bottom plates are precisely contoured to accept and lock the crossing messenger
cables.
The DIAMOND Crossover Clamp is partially assembled, with both the top and bottom plates held together by one of
the bolts. The 3/8" diameter hex head bolts are threaded into tapped holes in the plates, eliminating the handling of
loose nuts. These features minimize the number of components the installer must handle and allow faster
installation.

Cable Lashing Clamp
The DIAMOND “D” & “E” Cable Lashing Clamp is used in CATV and telephone aerial construction to secure lashing
wire terminations at any interruption to cable span continuity, or end of lashing wire coil.
The many unique features of the DIAMOND “D” Cable Lashing Clamp have made it the standard of the
communications industry. The 13/64" clamping plates are made of specially rolled high tensile strength steel. The
“E” Cable Lashing Clamp is essentially the same as the “D” clamp except the clamping plates are of one piece
design for fast clamping.
The 1/4" diameter stud bolt, also made of high tensile strength steel, is staked at both ends to prevent loss of nuts
while positioning the clamp prior to tensioning. The stud has a square shoulder at midpoint which mates with a
square hole in the clamping plate. This prevents rotation of the bolt during final tightening of the clamp to the
messenger strand prior to retaining the tension of the lashing wire.
Two large diameter, heavy duty steel washers are provided to assure permanent attachment of the terminated lashing
wire. All parts are corrosion resistant due to DIAMOND’s quality galvanizing process.

MacLean Power Systems’ Mechanical Holding Device for small gauge wire and strand is used for splicing and deadending
aluminum covered steel copper or copper covered steel or steel strand when used as a messenger for telephone or electric
utility applications. Used wherever a holding device is required for terminating or splicing solid wire or strand.
Features

The wirelink and wirevise for use with steel and aluminum covered steel are made of heat treated aluminum tubing
with case-hardened plated steel jaws.

This wirevise has a stainless steel bail and an aluminum alloy yoke.
•
Wirelink and wirevise for use on copper covered steel wire are made of copper tubing and have bronze jaws.
•
The wirevise has a stainless steel bail and a bronze yoke.

TVC has developed a line of true 1 GHz splice and ground block devices capable of providing high return loss
characteristics at frequencies over 1 GHz. The models G-F81L and G-G2B2 have been constructed using
traditional high frequency design techniques coupled with the required physical durability of CATV products to
provide return losses over 25 dB at 1 GHz. The mechanical design techniques

Joslyn Guy Attachments provide an economical and efficient means of fastening guys to poles. Well rounded wire
grooves protect the strand from damage.
The formed steel style guy attachments feature a closed strand loop when mounted. The J6505 two-bolt type is
mounted with a 3/4" through-bolt and a 1/2" lag screw to give additional strength and keep the attachment in line.
The ears of the malleable guy attachments will accommodate any type of guy loop or clamp bail. The lower
mounting hole is for a 1/2" lag screw.
Wherever possible, installation should be made under the head of a machine bolt; when used under the nut, the
threaded portion of the bolt is subjected to stress, thus reducing strength.

Cable Guards are used to protect power and telephone cable at riser installations. They offer maximum protection
to cable against collisions and vandalism.
Cable Guards are available either in inexpensive strap-mounted style or in one-piece type with integral mounting
holes for ease of installation. Lag screws are used to secure to the pole.
Guards without frustum can be used as extensions to attain any desired height on the pole. A carriage bolt

Two-Thirds Round Marker
The 2-1/2" diameter, two-thirds round design provides excellent visibility and permits installation over anchor rods up
to 1-1/4" diameter. The markers are produced from high impact resistant PVC with ultraviolet stabilizers added for
retention of color under U.V. conditions. Four sets of holes are located along the guard to permit flexibility of
mounting positions. Two different attachment methods are available-bolted clamp assemblies or wire ties. The bolted
clamp markers are supplied with three galvanized clamp assemblies which enable tamper resistant attachment to
guy wire diameters 3/16" through 1/2" and to anchor rods up to 1-1/4" diameter. The wire tie markers are supplied
with three wire ties for a fast, low cost method of marker attachment.

Lashers
J2 Cable Lasher
The J2 Cable Lasher is used to lash an aerial cable or numerous cables to supporting strand or to an existing
lashed cable with stainless steel lashing wire. The J2 Lasher’s design also gives it maximum service life. The
body is cylindrical to help it slip more easily through branches and obstructions. There is a built-in mechanical
brake to prevent unintended reversal, an automatic drum lock for easy span transfers, an all-range tensioning
device for optimum strand traction and high strength front and rear gates for tighter lashing.
Features
•
Will lash any single or multiple aerial cables up to 3" (76 mm) diameter
across on any suspension strand from 1/4" (6 mm) to 7/16" (11 mm). A
factory modification will allow the lasher to accommodate 1/2" (13 mm)
strand if necessary.
•
Consists of a rotating drum supported on a carriage that provides the
mounting for a driving mechanism, cable lifters, cable and strand
rollers.
•
Each of two recessed magazines will hold a 1200' coil of .045" (365 m
of 1.1 mm wire) lashing wire (or 450' of .065".). The lashing Wire is fully
recessed and covered by a gate.
•
Features a fast setup procedure, quick coil loading, and automatic
drum lock for easy span transfers and smooth forward travel.
•
J2 Lashers make overlashing easy. Just push down on the strand roller
knob, rotate it a quarter turn and you can lash additional cables together
on previously lashed cable.
•
Positive internal gear to gear mechanism has no chains or belts to stretch, slip or break.
•
Constructed with heat-treated, plated steel, stainless steel, brass and aluminum components. Contains
sealed and oil-less bearings to minimize maintenance and assure durability.
•
Pre-drilled and tapped at the factory for mounting of the lasher guard or “halo”. For use when lashing on
overgrown areas.
•
The lasher is furnished with a rugged lightweight storage chest with corrosion resistant hardware,
recessed latches and a moisture-proof, tongue-in-groove for maximum protection when not in use.
•
Supplied with a 6' bridle rope assembly and snap hooks, and an information and operation manual.

Lashers
C Cable Lasher
The C Cable Lasher is used to lash small diameter aerial cables to supporting strand with stainless steel lashing
wire. It is used primarily for new installations.
Features

Will lash any single or multiple cables up to 1 5/8" (40 mm) dia. onto
bare 1/4" to 3/8" strand.

All the same high quality features as the J2 Cable Lasher; those
features include dual magazines allowing you to load two 1200' coils of
.045" lashing wire, (365 m of 1.1 mm wire), the ability to mount a lasher
guard of “halo” into pre-drilled holed, and a built in brake to prevent
backroll.
•
This unit is built to last; the parts are all made from plated steel, stainless steel,
brass or aluminum. Contains sealed and self-lubricating bearings to maximize
maintenance and assure durability.

Lashing Wire / Strand
Stainless Steel Lashing Wire
Strength - For equivalent sizes of lashing wire, Grade 430 stainless has a lower strength (breaking load) than either
the 302 or 316 Grades. If increased strength is required, either a larger diameter
Grade 430 wire should be used or Grades 302 or 316 should be used because
of their higher breaking strength. In extreme strength applications, double
lashings of Grades 302 or 316 should be considered for highest possible
load bearing capabilities.
Corrosion - In order of increasing corrosion resistance, the materials are
ranked 430, 302, and 316. For general service conditions where the
material is exposed to non-salt environments, Grade 430 is adequate.
Where acid rain, heavy industrial pollution, and/or salt environments are
encountered, Grade 316 should be used. Grade 302 has corrosion resistance
which falls between the 430 and 316 and is suitable for mildly corrosive environments.

detachable Pole Steps are used to prevent unauthorized climbing to the point on a pole where permanent steps
are installed. A special 9/16" x 4" fetter drive lag screw permanently attaches the
mounting plate to the pole. Twisting is prevented by a punched projection. A nail hole is
also provided. The detachable steps can be hung from the lineman’s belt. When
attached to the pole, they extend 5-1/2". Steps are turned up at the outside edge to give
linemen a steady foothold.

Gimlet Point lag screws are installed with a wrench. Fetter Drive and Twist Drive Lag Screws can either be
wrenched or driven like a nail for speedier installation without sacrificing any of the holding strength of regular
gimlet point lag threads. Twist Drive Lags are furnished with a drive point for additional starting ease and accuracy.
This feature is also available on most sizes of Fetter Drive lags.
All Joslyn lag screws have rolled threads. Below the head is an upset
shoulder with the same outside diameter as the threads to provide a snug
fit in hardware mounting holes.

Tree Guards
PREFORMED Tree Guards are designed to protect bare conductors and fabriccovered or plastic-covered cables against mechanical abrasion caused by tree limbs or
other obstructions. Tree Guards provide fast, easy application without disconnecting
the wire. Helical strips are matched, then wrapped over and around the wire, and taped
at each end. High-impact polyvinyl chloride has a strong abrasion resistance, strong
weathering endurance, and high dielectric properties.

Square nuts have always been considered safest to use by utility linemen because of their large wrenching
surface. Regular nuts are used on all types of threaded bolts and insulator pins, while
heavy nuts are used exclusively on anchor rods.
Joslyn square nuts are manufactured in accordance with American National Standards
Institute Specifications B18.2.2 and tapped Unified National Coarse Thread Series Class
2B after centrifugal hot dip galvanizing, oversize for galvanized bolts and rods.
