1.0 General
This document provides a desciption of the Cohu T Protocol as implemented in the Cohu HD Camera
Platform. Cohu T is a tokenized protocol in which the various commands and responses are defined by
specific values. In addtion to the tokens, a command might contain some additional message data. The
packets are transferred between a PC and a camera via a standard network socket.
2.0 Message Format
The general format of a Cohu T message is illustrated in the diagram below. As a minimum, each message
consists of a Length Header and a Message Header. The Length Header is a 4-byte value, sent in network
byte order, which defines the total number of bytes remaining in the message packet. The Message Header
consists of a reserved byte, a 1-byte Message Type and a 2-byte Message ID. In addtion to the length and
message header, a packet might contain one or more bytes of Message Data depending on the particular
command or status response. The various Message Types, Message IDs and Message Data are defined by
the tables provided in this document.

These commands allow control of pan and tilt simultaneously and consist of 4-bytes defining the Pan Direction, Pan
Speed, Tilt Direction and Tilt Speed. The Pan/Tilt can operate over 64 speeds ranging from 0 to 63. The pan and tilt
direction values are defined as follows:
PT Direction: Stop = 0x00, Left = 0x01, Right = 0x02, Up = 0x03, Down = 0x04
Note 2:
The pan position increases going clockwise. The pan position range is 0 to 3599, which means that each unit
represents 1/10th of a degree. The tilt position range is limited to +/- 90 degrees where horizontal is at 0, up 1
degree at 3590, up 90 degrees at 2700, down 1 degree at 10 and down 90 degrees at 900. As with pan, units are in
10ths of a degree.
