EMIS® 1500
Central Unit
A network-compatible central unit for data acquisition and organization for the Energy Management instruments connected to it.
Description
Intensive ongoing development of the proven FRAKO Energy
Management System has resulted in the EMIS® 1500 Central
Unit, representing state-of-the-art data collector technology.
In addition to the widespread Ethernet technology with TCP/IP,
the Linux operating system is used within EMIS® 1500.
The Energy Management instruments are connected via the
FRAKO Bus® to the EMIS® 1500 Central Unit, but can also be
connected through one or more EMG 1500-PN.
Several PCs can be connected online to the EMIS® 1500 simultaneously.
The data are acquired and saved by the following instruments:

The sophisticated alarm functions enable:
■■ All logged-in metering and analogue channels to be
provided with lower and upper alarm limits
■■ Individual alarms or groups of alarms to be linked to the
following signalling methods: - contacts on the EMIS
1500 Central Unit or the EMD 1101 Add-on Unit, - network printer, - text messaging (SMS), - telefax, - e-mail
messages and - alarm reports
Energy Management instruments can be linked in two ways:
■■ via the Ethernetstandard (TCP/IP) to a gateway with
FRAKO Starkstrombus® interface
or
■■ via integrated FRAKO Starkstrombus® interface
Various means of connection exist to access the Central Unit
from a PC:
■■ Connection via Ethernet (TCP/IP-Protocol)
■■ A dial-up network connection to be made via modem
■■ direct serial connection by dial-up network
The Linux operating system installed internally enables an online connection to be made simultaneously from several PCs
to the Central Units.
Configuration of the EMIS 1500 Central Unit is carried out with
the FRAKO-NET software package (included in scope of supply).

EMG 1500-PN
Gateway
The gateway EMG 1500-PN is the interface between ethernet and the FRAKO Starkstrombus®.
Description
It is possible to install a maximum of eight Gateways per EMIS
1500 in the Ethernet system. Gateways can also be linked up
via a company´s internal network. Other standard bus systems
such as Modbus can also be connected.
The Gateway has three ports:

A clock module for the timed switching of up to 250 switching or parameter channels.
Description
Channels in the EM-MC 2200 Maximum Controller or the EML
1101 Maximum Demand Controller with its EMD 1101 Add-on
Units can be used as switching channels, as can also Add-on
Units that are directly connected to the FRAKO Bus®. The status of every switching channel can be changed regardless of
the control status of the EM-MC 2200 or EML 1101. In addition,
time-dependent parameters such as alarm limits or set points
in the devices of the FRAKO Energy Management System can
be changed by this module. Communication is via the FRAKO
Bus®.

The EMB 1101 repeater serves to condition and forward signals in the FRAKO Starkstrombussystem. Required if the length of the string
exceeds 1000 m as well as if more than 32 devices may bei operated on one link of the bus system.

The Modbus coupler allows to connect Modbus devices with the FRAKO Energy Management System. Data between the coupler and the
Central Unit EMIS 1500 is exchanged via Ethernet.
Description
A maximum of 31 Modbus devices can be connected to the
coupler. The configuration software and a wall wart are included with the delivery.
Ready to use address tables already exist for the following

The driver software and the wall wart required for the acces
are part of the scope of delivery. You are allowed to install the
driver software on several computers.

s an RS232 interface is generally specified for data
interchange over short distances, it becomes more
complicated when longer lines are involved. In addition to
widely used data interchange options such as modems
or optical fibre converters, it is also possible to use the
network cable

M-Bus level converter
M-Bus level converter to connect M-Bus counters with the FRAKO Energy Informations System.
Description
The M-Bus (Meter-Bus) is a 2-wire fieldbus, developed to
transmit energy consumption data. The market offers a wide
spectrum of energy meters for a variety of media.
In practice the consumption data from heat meters, water meters, electricity meters, gas meters etc. are readout via remote
inquiry. The usual readout cycle is once a month.
With the M-bus level converter up to 3 (EM-PW3) resp. 20
(EM-PW20) M-Bus meters can be integrated in the FRAKO
Energy Management System.
■■ With the coupling of the M-Bus meter to the FRAKO
Energy Information System, current measurement readings and 15 minute graphs can be shown. The particular
M-Bus meter must allow those fast interrogation cycles
■■ The analysis of the recorded measurement data is
done with the visualization software EMVIS 3000 or the
reporting software EMIS® report
■■ Consumption characteristics become transparent and
allow an optimization of the energy consumption
■■ Easy connection of the M-Bus meter via level converter
– direct serial to the FRAKO Central Unit EMIS® 1500
or- via the internal network (Ethernet TCP/IP) by means
of EM-Com-Server
■■ M-Bus meters can be evaluated together with all other
FRAKO Energy Management devices

The EIB Network coupler is used to connect EIB (KNX) devices with the FRAKO Energy Management System. It connects the EIB (KNX)
devices via Ethernet to the Central Unit EMIS 1500.
Description
Building automation becomes important in residential and
functional buildings. One solution is the European Installation Bus EIB (KNX) which combines sensors and actuators as
well as energy meters into the building automation. The NK1
network coupler is the optimal solution to combine the advantages of EIB (KNX) building automation with the advantages of
the FRAKO Energy Management System.

Maximum Controller
The EM-MC 2200 Maximum Controller serves as a user-friendly power demand monitor with a power trend calculation function and an optimized
switching strategy to prevent the set maximum power (target) demand from being exceeded.
Description
FRAKO Maximum Demand Controllers ensure maximum savings of active power without disrupting operation. They operate just as well in small stand-alone systems with only a few
loads as in major installations with a power demand of several
megawatts. They are combined to work with other modular
components of the FRAKO Energy Management System to
meet specific requirements.
■■ Power-dependent control application point to prevent
unnecessary load-shedding at the start of the measurement interval
■■ Individual adjustment of the connected loads to suit
operating conditions by setting priorities, min./max. OFF
times and min. ON times per channel
■■ To make best use of seasonal demand fluctuations, the

The internal alarm system can send e-mails via the

Counting and Message Device
The EMF 1102 is a compact and cost-effective system for the aquisition and storage of meter readings, switching status and alarm signals.
Description
It consists of a data acquisition and memory unit plus modular
software components for easy user configuration and for the
evaluation and management of the data. Remote alarms can
be transmitted by SMS via modem.
The EMF 1102 can be used as a stand-alone system for the
acquisition of utilities and operating data in a factory or other
premises, or can be installed as an integral part of a FRAKO
Energy Management System.

Description
For acquiring operating data with the FRAKO Energy Management System an analog signal 0-10 V or 2-10 V (direct voltage)
or 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA (continuous current) is transformed into
a pulse frequency 0-5 Hz. The pulse output of the EM-UIF is
connected to the cost center and alarm system EMF 1102. This
offers the possibility to control, detect and visualize sensors with
random output signals with the FRAKO Energy Management
System.

The FRAKO Energy Management System is used to acquire measurement readings, statuses and events from a company’s entire internal utilities supply system. These data are processed centrally and saved, and can be displayed and evaluated using the EMVIS 3000
visualization software.
Description
The EMVIS 3000 software is a powerful tool for displaying and
documenting all the measurement data for the instruments
connected to it. It comprises the following functional modules:
EMVIS 3000 Report
■■ A clear overview of the entire system is displayed in two
system trees (physical and organizational) to simplify
navigation
■■ Presentation of historical data for analysis and comparison purposes, e.g. different locations or different periods
in time
■■ The historical data can be exported for further processing
■■ Direct access to the momentary readings of the connected instruments
■■ Readout of the events that have occurred
in the organizational system tree
■■ Easy customizing – individual projects with customized
views – simple and intuitive (included in the basic package: three views with up to 20 data points)
The software license enables EMVIS 3000 to access an EMIS
1500 Central Unit.

Utility cost transparency.
The consumption data acquired by the FRAKO Energy Management System can be read to an Excel workbook from the
SQL databases FRAKO-NET DB or FRAKO EMIS-DB.
The period covered by the evaluation can be selected as desired.
Individual loads or metering units can be combined into load
groups or cost centres and evaluated according to differing
time schedules.
Customer-specific reports are easy to create by selecting appropriate cells.
This achieves optimized transparency for the utility flows
within the company.
With EMIS report, data from the FRAKO data base can be
read out in an excel-file and are herewith available for a customer specific analysis. A useful tool for the allocation of costs
for each divisions or purchaser and for the controlling of a
company.
