Allen-Bradley 1606 DC Power Supply Redundancy Module Instruction manual

Below you will find brief information for redundant power supply 1606-XLERED, redundant power supply 1606-XLSRED, redundant power supply 1606-XLSRED40 and redundant power supply 1606-XLSRED80. The 1606-XLERED, 1606-XLSRED, 1606-XLSRED40 and 1606-XLSRED80 are redundancy modules for DC voltages up to 20A, 40A and 80A and utilize diodes or mosfets to isolate the two inputs. These modules can be used to build 1+1 and N+1 redundant systems. All redundancy modules do not require an additional auxiliary voltage and are self-sufficient even in case of a short circuit across the output.

Frequently asked questions

These modules are designed to increase the reliability of DC voltages by providing redundant power supply paths. They allow you to build 1+1 and N+1 redundant systems, ensuring that if one power supply fails, the other(s) will continue to provide power to the load.

The 1606-XLERED model includes a monitoring circuitry that signals when one of the two input voltages is not in range due to a non-functioning or disconnected power supply. The 1606-XLSRED does not include this monitoring circuitry and is ideal for use when the power supply itself is already equipped with a DC-OK contact.

Using mosfets instead of diodes reduces heat generation and voltage drop between input and output, making these models more efficient for high-current applications.
