STEP I
Setting up the hardware
1. You will need the RS-232 cable (part no. 930911) to establish communication between
the Lode treadmill (Valiant) and your stress system. The lay-out of the cable is as follows:
Straight RS232 cable 930911
D-con 9 pin female
D-con 9 pin male
2 RxD
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 TxD
3 TxD
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 TxD
5 GND ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5 GND
2. Connect the RS232 cable to the Lode treadmill (Valiant) (see picture 1).
3. Connect the RS232 cable to the Mortara X-Scribe (see picture 2).
STEP II
Setting up the Valiant
4. Switch on the Valiant
5. Press and hold the two keys on the picture for 10 seconds and you will enter the service
menu of the Valiant
The Valiant is default shipped with the LODE RS232 communication protocol.
It should be set to the Trackmaster RS232 protocol.( #2)
You can change the RS232 by following the procedure below:

Select “Prot id” and select the RS232 protocol #2 which is the Trackmaster communication
protocol.
Select “Baudrate” and set this to 4800 Baud.
Press the red button to leave the service menu.
Switch off the Valiant
6. The Lode Valiant is now ready for external control

STEP III
Setting up the Mortara X-scribe
7. Switch on the ECG monitor
8. Select “Settings”

9. Select an Exercise protocol e.g. “BRUCE” and sselect as Equipment “Trackmaster
0.5Mph” For NIBP you can select “Manual”
10. Press “Save Profile” and leave the menu.
Note: The Speed will be sent to the treadmill in Miles/hour the units on the treadmill should
be set to Km/h
The system is ready for use.
