IS A NON-PROFIT CHARITY?
THE Y FOR ALL
Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors
to make sure that everyone, regardless of age,
income or background, has the opportunity to
learn, grow and thrive. When you are a part of the

staff, policies and equipment. We offer
three different types of orientations
to help our members better meet
their fitness needs. All orientations
include discussions on proper form and
technique as well as standard Wellness
Center etiquette.
FEE: FREE to Full Members. Please
register at the front desk for one or all
of the following:
THE BASICS
This orientation is recommended for
the new member, beginner exerciser
and is required for members ages 1416 who use the Wellness Center. You’ll
learn the basics of a safe and effective
workout while getting an overview
of three pieces of cardio equipment
and eight machines from the Strength
Training Circuit.
THE NEXT STEP
This orientation is recommended for
members who have been through a
basic orientation and feel comfortable
enough to learn more. You’ll learn two
more pieces of cardio equipment, the
remaining strength training machines and
how to structure a complete well-rounded
workout.
FREE WEIGHTS
When you’re ready to take your
workout beyond strength training
machines, you can move on to free
weights. This orientation will include a
review of weight room etiquette, safety
tips, and the safe execution of a basic
set of free weight exercises to enhance
your current routine.
GROUP MIND & BODY
ACTIVE FLOW
Put down that third cup of coffee
and come to your mat! This class is
designed to awaken, re-ignite and
energize your body and mind. This is an
active class where you will move and
breathe and have the chance to be still
with yourself. Be prepared to sweat
and to strengthen your arms, core and
legs. This vinyasa class will help you
find that sweet spot between effort
and letting go.
CHAIR YOGA
Chair yoga is a great practice for
everyone as it deepens flexibility
and strengthens personal body
awareness. This a gentle form of yoga
and is practiced sitting on a chair
or standing while using a chair for
support. Standing poses are offered to
help class participants increase their
strength and flexibility.
FOUNDATIONS OF HATHA
This 50 minute class is appropriate
for individuals who are brand new to
yoga as well as those looking to refine
and explore the basic concepts of their
yoga practice. There is step-by-step
guidance through pranayama (breathing)
techniques and seated, standing, and
supine asanas (poses). Verbal and
optional physical adjustments are
provided for proper form and alignment.
This class is designed to build upon
prior week’s lessons. While participants
are welcome to drop-in, regular
attendance is encouraged. KIDS YOGA [01505]
These two offerings focus on creative
movement, body awareness and
an introduction to the mind/body
connection. Using games, stories,
music and imagination, this class will
be a fun and exploratory process
accessible to any age or physical
ability. The main focus is to bring
movement and awareness into our
bodies. There is no need to have
the ability to touch your toes or sit
perfectly still. Students should come
with an open mind and a willingness to
move, explore and express themselves.

ADULTS
PILATES
This 60 minute class involves a series
of classical pilates exercises performed
on a mat without equipment. Each
exercise emphasizes breath, core
conditioning and body awareness.
Instructors pay special attention to
alignment and form. To attend, please
obtain a ticket from the front desk up
to 90 minutes prior to class.
RESTORATIVE YOGA
In this class we use props, body weight
and gravity to deepen stretches. This
slow-paced, but deceptively active
yoga practice is set to meditative
classical music. We hold the major
poses for at least two minutes to
allow everyone the opportunity to
open the body and fully explore each
pose before moving forward. Typically
we focus on one or two parts of the
body per practice while connecting
movement with the mind.
TAI CHI [04546]
If you are looking for a way to reduce
stress, consider Tai Chi (TIE CHEE).
Originally developed for self-defense,
Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful
form of exercise that is now used for
stress reduction, improved balance and
a variety of other health conditions.
Often described as meditation in
motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity
through gentle, flowing movements.
It involves a series of movements
performed in a slow, focused manner
accompanied by deep breathing.
YOGA FOR LENGTH
Together we will explore a yoga
practice focused on poses (asanas),
breath (pranayama) and deep
relaxation (shavasana) designed for all.
Each class will start with a variety of
seated stretches and core poses that
will work up to a series of standing
poses centered on the total-body
Sun Salutation. Expect to touch all
the major muscle groups (and some
minor ones) before shifting focus from
outward to inward and ending with
deep relaxation and meditation.
YOGA FOR STRENGTH
This is a yoga practice focused on
poses (asanas), breath (pranayama) and
deep relaxation (shavasana) designed
for the intermediate yoga student.
Expect to gain both flexibility and
strength as you begin with poses that
lengthen the muscles. You will shift
to the strong portion of our practice
and end with deep relaxation and
meditation.
YOGA FOR EVERYONE
Experience a holistic approach to
yoga that combines time-honored
teachings with therapeutic techniques
for health and well-being. This class
will begin with centering, including
mudras and mantras to awaken and
connect. Practitioners will develop
balance, strength and flexibility
through sequenced asanas with a focus
on postural alignment and mind/body
awareness. Breathing techniques and
guided relaxation will bring benefits
of tension release, stress reduction,
and increased vitality. This class is
designed for mixed levels and will
accommodate beginners as well as
inspire experienced yogis to deepen
their practice.
YOGA CORE This is a “best of both worlds” class
where we combine the ancient art
of yoga with a more contemporary
Pilates practice. Together, we will focus
primarily on the core with poses and
moves that strengthen the abdominal
muscles, the glutes, hamstrings and
back while connecting body movement
with mind and breath. All are welcome,
as students can customize their
practice by choosing basic poses or
optional variations.
YOGA FUN FLOW [01505] This is a class guided by intuition
and is determined by the energy of
the students. It is a creative vinyasa
flow class that delivers a challenge to
students that keeps them inspired and
growing. It includes postures that teach
alignment and strengthen mind and
body awareness. Get ready to dive deep,
and enter the realm of the unknown,
tapping into your inner strength and
discovering more peace and joy along
the way. All are welcome. This class
meets Saturday mornings at 10:15 a.m.
with rotating instructors.
YOGA FORM & FLOW
This 70 minute class will begin with
meditation, pranayama and warmup stretches, followed by focus on
asana form and alignment, including
modifications and adjustments. A
vinyasa (flowing sequence) follows and
each class concludes with Savasana
(relaxation).
VINYASA FLOW
Vinyasa Flow sequences posture
from one to another with the flow of
the breath. The repetition of asanas
throughout the practice grounds the
flow, increasing range of motion and
delivering nutrients to the muscles.
Expect rhythmic movements that
enlivens the body, activates the
breath and generates a rise in body
temperature. Vinyasa Flow is great for
individuals wanting to flow between
poses or elevate their heart rate.
and breath. All levels are welcome.

two benchmark skills:
1 / WATER ACCLIMATION
2 / WATER MOVEMENT
3 / WATER STAMINA
Students develop comfort

and learn to safely exit in the
event of falling into a body
of water in stage one. This
stage lays the foundation
that allows for a student’s
future progress in swimming.
In stage two, students focus
on body position and
control, directional change,
and forward movement in
the water while also
continuing to practice how
to safely exit in the event of
falling into a body of water.
In stage three, students
learn how to swim to safety
from a longer distance than
in previous stages in the
event of falling into a body
of water. This stage also

and learn all major
competitive strokes. The
emphasis on water safety
continues through
treading water and
sidestroke.
In stage six, students
refine stroke technique
on all major competitive
strokes, learn about
competitive swimming,
and discover how to
incorporate swimming
into a healthy lifestyle.
• Swim, float, swim—
sequencing front glide,
roll, back float, roll,

Leader-In-Training Program (For teens entering 11th grade)

our LIT (Leader-In-Training) participants learn teamwork and leadership skills. Throughout
this 4 week program, teens participate in daily leadership workshops, assist our staff with
instructing camp programs, complete service learning projects and attend a 3-day camping
and hiking trip to French Creek State Park in Elverson, PA.
New to Tockwogh? No problem! This program is centered around teamwork and
interaction with peers and staff. Participants quickly become part of the group as they
create memorable and formative experiences together.
For more information, please contact Pat Gizinski at pgizinski@ymcade.org.
Counselor-In-Training Program (For teens entering 12th grade)
Our CIT (Counselor-In-Training) program is specifically designed to give teens the
opportunity to work directly with our campers, gain experience running camp programs and
further develop leadership skills. Offered in a 3 week or 4 week program, teens will participate
in daily leadership workshops, service learning opportunities and a one night trip to Dutch
Springs Waterpark.
