Market leading technology and automated routines

Cost efficient document capture for everyone

The fi-6400 is the ideal enterprise class scanning solution for small and medium sized companies who may be wishing to introduce a centralised document capture solution. Indeed, larger organisations who need added flexibility from their scanning infrastructure could utilise the affordable fi-6400 for applications where decreasing scan requirements are needed across multiple locations, when there is a need for a higher throughput scanner to cover peak times or simply as a back-up system.

The technology packed and intuitively versatile fi-6400 will help those companies wishing to look for a high volume scanning solution that is designed for processing incoming documents and turning these paper documents into useful electronic data. An end to end capture process that can boost workflow routines, business process management and automation.

These automated routines can help deliver a performance bonus to document-hungry businesses when archiving records, satisfying compliance requirements and introducing bulk document sets to workflows.

The result is a robust scanner with an impressively low total cost of ownership compared to other models within and beyond its class and as such provides a fast return on investment.

Experience impressive throughput

Convert large volumes of documents quickly, with dependable throughput every day.

The fi-6400 minimises operator interference through automated functionality to provide uninterrupted performance when processing large batches of documents.

Set up and refinements of the fi-6400 are so easy to manage that intentional adjustments of workflow routines can be achieved even on an ad-hoc basis. The fi-6400 can scan at speeds of 100 pages per minute (ppm) or when double sided 200 images per minute

(ipm) at 300 dpi in A4 landscape mode (85ppm/170ipm in A4 portrait mode). When higher resolutions are needed operators can select up to 600 optical dpi.

Optional extras

Post Imprinter (front side)

(fi-680PRF)

{Part Number – PA03575-D201}

Post Imprinter (reverse side)

(fi-680PRB)

{Part Number – PA03575-D203}

The imprinter option enables users to print information on original documents for document management purposes such as for tracking or compliance. After documents have been scanned the fi-680PRF (post imprinter) prints information on the front of the document and the fi-680PRB (post imprinter) prints information on the reverse side of the document.

Benefit from excellent paper feed performance

Mixed document batches can be managed efficiently when the physical characteristics of documents change within the batch. The fi-6400 handles different sized sheets from A8 to A3 and differences in materials such as when paper, cardboard and plastic vary in weight and thickness – leaving the operator free to attend to parallel tasks or prepare the next batch of documents, without being distracted by misfeed alerts.

The fi-6400 incorporates a top-of-the-line paper-feed mechanism with ‘Paper

Protection’ and ‘Multi-feed Protection’ functions that can anticipate paper feed problems before they happen. The Intelligent Multi-feed Function allows document scan parameters to be applied which enables the sensors to be set up to help identify and subsequently ignore attachments such as sticky notes or items with a photo attached that would otherwise cause disruptions to the scanning process.

Enjoy minimal office and environmental impact

The fi-6400 features an impressively small desk-footprint and near-silent operation. The foldaway hopper means that the fi-6400 is suitable for placement in a range of office locations. The scanner helps support environmental policies such as waste management, recycling initiatives and becoming greener through sustainability initiatives.

Perform more efficient post-scan tasks

Time saving, image enhancing features such as Automatic Colour Detection, Automatic

Orientation, intelligent and advanced dynamic threshold control for optimised images (iDTC & ADTC) and Multifeed Detection contribute to more efficient document processing day after day. The ‘Automatic Image Quality Checker’ automatically detects and visualises image irregularities such as large folds, or tears, or even possible sheet overlays and allows for post-scan exception handling. On the paper output side the

‘Automatic Stacker’ ensures the correct and neat arrangement of scanned documents for physical storage.

Manage from a single location

Scanner Central Admin software enables Fujitsu scanners to be managed and maintained from a single location to minimise scanner downtime anywhere on the global system.

Software, interfaces and compatibility

The integrated operating panel and LCD give at-a-glance settings, operating status and pre-set scan options. The fi-6400 can be operated through a USB interface, allowing for direct PaperStream IP TWAIN and ISIS driver control.

Bundled software

Fujitsu developed best in class scanner driver and image capturing / processing software

PaperStream IP – high quality image enhancement

PaperStream IP is the scanner driver for the fi-6400 scanner. In addition to being fully compliant with the industry standard TWAIN and ISIS interface, PaperStream IP incorporates as standard, highly sophisticated image processing that automatically applies features such as noise removal, background pattern removal and character augmentation to produce exceptionally clear, high quality images that are suitable for direct import into the users’ workflow.

PaperStream IP has an intuitive, easy to use interface that can be switched between Administrator or User mode to simplify the scanning process and reduce user error. Additionally PaperStream

IP also introduces a new Assisted Scanning mode, which allows the user to visually select the best quality image from a range of images of the page, rather than needing to manually fine tune the scanning parameters one by one.

PaperStream Capture – enhanced capture

PaperStream Capture is an easy to use capture tool which allows users to easily create scanning routines which encapsulate all of the settings and configuration required to control the scanning process from scan to the release of the image tothe users’ or companies’ defined workflow.

Once created, profiles can be run by a single click and the most frequently used profiles can even be linked to the fi-6400 scanner front panel scan button to streamline the whole capture process.
