HOW TO MOUNT THE READER
To mount the Reader, perform the following steps
(see full-size template on page 4 of these
instructions):
1. Determine an appropriate mounting position
for the Reader.
2. Using the template as a guide, drill two 7/64inch holes (5.25-inches apart as shown in
Figure 1) for mounting the Reader to the
surface.
3. Drill a 3/8 to 1.0-inch hole for the cable (see
Figure 1). If mounting on metal, place a
grommet around the edge of the hole.
4. Route the interface cable from the Reader
and/or power supply to the host. A linear
type power supply is recommended.

Figure 2 below shows how you should wire the
Reader to the Host along with the Host Installation
Guide.
The legend for wiring is color coded according to
the recommended Wiegand Standard. The letter
designated to each terminal is shown on the back
label (see Figure 2 ).
Check all electrical codes for proper installation.
Mount the Reader with the screws provided if
mounting onto metal mullions or junction boxes. On
other materials, use appropriate fasteners.

HOW TO CONNECT THE READER TO THE HOST
B1+
The ADEMCO HID MiniProxв„ў Reader is
available with an 18-inch pigtail, having a 10conductor cable. To attach the Reader to the Host,
perform the following steps:
1. Prepare the Reader pigtail cable by cutting the
cable jacket back 1-1/4-inches and strip the
wires 1/2-inch.
2. Prepare the Host cable by cutting the cable
jacket back 1-1/4-inches and strip the wires
1/2-inch.
3. Splice the Reader pigtail wires to the
corresponding Host wires and cover each
connection (see Figure 2).

SPECIFICATIONS
When using a separate power supply for the
Reader, this supply and the Host’ s power supply
must have a common ground.
Power Requirements:
If the Host is controlling the Beeper or HOLD, or
if the LEDs are configured for dual LED mode,
additional conductors will be required. The
recommended cables are Alpha 1295C, 1296C,
1297C, 1298C, and 1299C. These are five, six,
seven, eight, and nine gauge conductors
respectively.
Larger wire gauges are
acceptable. The wire must be stranded with an
overall shield, either foil or braided.
Operating Voltage Range(+DC):
The cable shield should be connected to the
shield ground on the Reader, and be left floating
at the panel or power supply end of the cable.
This configuration is best for shielding the
Reader cable from external interference and
reducing the likelihood of the Reader causing
interference.

PARTS LIST RECOMMENDED ( Not Included)
Power up the Reader. The LED and Beeper
will flash and beep three times in a sequence
of two short delays and one long delay. This
indicates that the micro-controller unit is
working properly.
Present an ID card to the Reader. The LED
should turn green within seconds, indicating a
read of the card.
