1 Tulane Campus Recreation Group Exercise Class Descriptions Abs: A challenging 30 minute abdominal and lower back workout that will work every angle of your core. This class goes above and beyond sit-ups and crunches to define and sculpt the abdominals. ABT (Abs, Buns, and Thighs): Targets the abs, buns, & thighs to strengthen and improve core stability. The body’s core include everything from below the chest to above the knees. Blast those abs, buns, thighs, and lower back in this 60 minute class. AOA-50+ Cardio Dance: Continuous movement for 30-40 minutes plus additional stretching at the end of class with choreography developed specifically for active older adults. Low impact dance patterns with modifications & options to suit your intensity level. Bring water and a towel and join the fun! AOA-50+ PiYo: Multi-level combination class of yoga poses and Pilates sequences, modified to fit almost every fitness level using blocks, straps, chairs & other equipment. Participants will perform seated, standing, and floor positions. Participants are required to bring an appropriate yoga mat. Aqua Cardio: This 60 minute class includes continuous choreographed high and low impact moves, drills and water dance combinations set to music to improve cardiovascular endurance, burn calories and tone muscles for a total body workout. Web gloves are recommended for maximum upper body workout. Aqua Power Hour: A mix of cardio and toning using various aqua exercise equipment. Class takes place in the shallow end where you can stand up with your head above water, so no swimming skills are required. Join in for a great core workout that provides less stress on the joints! Barre: Barre classes are ballet-inspired, incorporating a ballet barre and mixing elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and functional training into the workout. BODYPUMP™: Body Pump is the original barbell class that will sculpt, tone, and strengthen your entire body by combining low weight loads with high repetition movements. You’ll burn fat, gain strength, and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning. BollyX: BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world. Its 50-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and motivated. At the very core of a BollyX workout is the inspiration it draws from the music and dance of Bollywood, the film industry of India. Bootcamp: Whether you're looking to increase strength, lose weight, enhance performance or just looking for a new fitness challenge, Bootcamp can help get you there! This class combines both strength and cardiovascular training to give participants a challenging, but rewarding full body workout. The setup of this class combines use of barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, and medicine balls with running, burpees, mountain climbers and other cardio exercises. 2 Cycling: The RealRyder® Indoor Cycling bike is like no other indoor bike on the planet. Cycle RPM: Is a group indoor cycling workout where you control the intensity. With great music pumping and the group cycling as one, your instructor takes you on a journey of hill climbs, sprints and flat riding. RPM is a great way to build up your sense of personal achievement. You can draw on the group’s energy and find your rhythm in the music. You control your own resistance levels and speed so you can build up your fitness level over time. It’s a journey, not a race! Deep Water Conditioning: A no-impact, high intensity program emphasizing cardiovascular strength and endurance, flexibility, and stability. Participants are required to wear attachable flotation belts while in deep water. Swimming skills not required. This class is of particular benefit to active exercisers who are looking for a challenging workout to complement their land-based training. Class size is limited. Hatha Yoga: Hatha yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in America. It is the branch of yoga which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. H2O Cardio: Tone and sculpt your body with no impact to your joints. This popular water aerobics workout is a swimming blend of cardio and resistance training, and may incorporate resistance tools such as buoyant water weights and noodles. Water aerobics set to lively music will keep you fit. You will burn fat while having fun with easy moves that will shape and sculpt you a whole new body. H2O Cardio is a fun, easy way to get fit for life. Kettlebells: This circuit style strength class moves you through intervals of cardio, core based and weighted resistance. Blast fat and sculpt muscles with a unique, demanding blend of equipment like kettlebells, medicine balls, plyo boxes, etc. This class incorporates multiple levels of difficulty making it the ultimate challenge, but also open and adaptable to all fitness levels. Mat Pilates: Improve your core strength and develop longer, leaner muscles. Mat work exercises are the fundamental exercises of Pilates and will improve flexibility, balance & posture in addition to strength. This all-levels class utilizes small equipment like Pilates rings, blocks and rollers in addition to your own body. This class does require a yoga/Pilates pass in order to attend. Be sure to bring a water bottle and towel! PiYo: PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. Power Circuit: Power Circuit is a fun and fast moving class that incorporates full body strength and cardio exercises into a circuit of 6-15 stations using body weight, resistance bands, medicine balls, kettlebells and much more. Power Flow: Power Yoga will help you strengthen, stretch and tone your muscles. You will achieve deep strength, flexibility & endurance while restoring your natural alignment. You will also improve balance and posture while toning & elongating without building bulk. The class is for participants at all levels of fitness. RIPPED: The One Stop Body Shock® is a 50 minute class, designed for all fitness levels, allowing a gym novice and trained athlete to both feel an intense full body workout. It's a pre-choreographed, athletic based workout that incorporates weights and cardio and it's set to some awesome music! This total body, high intensity style program, utilizing free weights, resistance and body weight, masterfully combines the components of R.I.P.P.E.D.--- Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance as the workout portion along with Diet suggestions to help you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable and extremely effective. Silver Sneakers® Classic: (formerly known as MS-ROM- Muscular Strength & Range of Movement) Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Step & Sculpt: A great way to tone muscles and burn fat! Step & Sculpt is a mixture of step aerobics and step intervals at a simple to medium level, united with heart pumping step routines as well as strength and/or core training, to give a well-rounded workout. STRONG by Zumba™: STRONG by Zumba™ combines high intensity interval training with the science of Synced Music Motivation. In every class, music and moves sync in a way that pushes you past your perceived limits, to reach your fitness goals faster. The music in STRONG by Zumba™ was crafted to drive the intensity in a challenging progression that provides a total body workout. Using your own body weight, you will improve muscular endurance, tone and definition. 4 Sunrise Vinyasa: Start your morning with this vinyasa flow yoga sequence! Get your heart pumping and give your muscles some strength training; add in a little relaxation and you're ready to start your day. Beginner/intermediate level. Total Body Conditioning: This class incorporates strength and cardio segments using equipment such as dumbbells, stability balls, and bands for a total body workout. This workout is geared to target "head to toe" strength and toning exercises achieved through either high repetition or high intensity intervals. Get ready for the unexpected in this freestyle format class that is great for any fitness level. Turbo Kick®: Maximize your workout with ab-sculpting moves and fat burning cardio using some of the most popular music out there! This class is filled with shadow boxing, karate, sports drills, hip hop and funk; burn lots of calories each workout while having fun! Vixen Workout: Vixen Workout is an intense Hip-Hop cardio dance class inspired by moves performed by your favorite artists and the Miami nightlife. This women’s only dance workout delivers easy to learn combinations that provide a full body workout and create a fun club atmosphere where women can let “get their Beyonce, Ciara, Rihanna on.” Women will be completing intense muscle toning movements hidden by clever choreography, music, and fun. Vinyasa Flow: With a Hatha Yoga style foundation and a Power (flow), this class will encourage and empower you! There is an emphasis on building upper body and core strength as well as increasing endurance. Each Zumba® Fitness class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on.
