B. Manufacturer shall warrant the NVS (Network Video Server) to be free from
defects in material and workmanship for one year from the purchase date.
General NVS Description
The product specified shall be an industrial grade, full-featured NVS to encode
and transmit video and audio via an IP network. The product is designed to
meet or exceed industrial and surveillance applications requiring a long-term
storage and retrieval solution. The NVS shall support both H.264 and MJPEG
encoding standards. The NVS shall have 1 analog video connector.
General System Requirements
A. The product specified shall have one video input connector. Any analog
camera which generate composite video signal shall be able to be connected
with the NVS through the connector. Either NTSC or PAL type shall be

or 704 x 576 (PAL) pixels. The image resolution also support 2CIF (704 x 240

at 30 (NTSC) or 25 (PAL) images per second (ips) at 4CIF resolution. This

D. IP stream from the various IP cameras from flexwatch, axis, arecont, IQ
invision, Mobotix, Panasonic, vivote, etc. shall be able to be displayed through
the FW-Manager viewer.
E. The NVS shall have at least 128MB of RAM and 8MB of flash memory.
F. The NVS shall be capable of encoding the sequential images according to
H.264 or MJPEG standards. The NVS shall provide dual-streaming transfer
mode of H.264 and MJPEG video to be transmitted via the network
G. The NVS shall provide both a TCP/IP protocol video output via a RJ-45
Ethernet connection and an NTSC (PAL) analog composite video output via a
BNC connection.

H. The NVS shall provide the 2-way audio transfer according to G.723
The NVS shall provide built-in motion detection allowing up to 144 rectangular
windows for the analog input channel, to be independently configured. The
motion calculations shall allow the threshold of the sensitivity to be set.
J. User and Administrator password protection levels shall be provided.
K. A recessed mechanical reset button shall be provided to return the NVS to
factory default settings.
1.04 Networking Requirements
A. The NVS shall incorporate a built-in web server, built-in FTP server, a built-in
FTP client, and built-in e-mail client.
B. The NVS shall provide various streaming protocols, Server push, RTP/RTSP,
multicast transmission to clients.
C. The NVS shall provide integrated support for IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, FTP,
SMTP, DHCP, HTTP, RARP, BOOTP, SNMP, Telnet, and TFTP protocols.
D. The NVS shall provide a multi-view function where a single browser page shall
be capable of displaying streaming images from up to nine different channels
E. No unique or proprietary client software shall be required for viewing or
controlling the NVS. The NVS shall be configurable through the standard web

A. The NVS shall be managed by FW-Manager software over the network for
viewing, recording, and retransmitting.
B. FW-Manager software shall be capable of storing the image streams
transmitted from the NVS to the storage hardware such as HDD in the PC
where it is running. It may be stored at a fixed periodic record rate and/or
when triggered by motion and/or external input. Playback shall allow all
images recorded to be viewed forward or backward in time.
C. FW-Manager shall be able to record pre-event and post-event images from
the NVS and it shall have time-date search functionalities.
D. FW-Manager shall provide up to 256-camera display and bi-directional voice
communication functionalities.
E. FW-Manager shall support Event, Motion Detection, Schedule, Forced
recording, PTZ, AVI file extraction, Search & Playback features.
1.06 Camera Event (Alarm) Handling Capability
A. The NVS shall be capable of recording an event as pre and post event images
to on-board memory. The camera shall also be able to transfer the event’s
JPEG images to an FTP server via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Events may be

triggered using camera motion detection or from an external device input
such as a relay.
B. When triggered from an external input or the camera’s motion detector, the
NVS shall be capable of sending JPEG images via e-mail and/or sequences of
images to an FTP server
C. A relay output shall be available upon the activation of the camera’s motion
detector or external relay input. The relay output may also be manually
activated from the live view screen.
