8.3 Operation on Parameter Screen/System Screen
8.3.1 Parameter screen
1. Display the Parameter 1 screen.
1) Press the [Menu] button on the Layout
screen.
2) When the pop-up menu is displayed, press
the [Parameter] button.
2. Change the parameter settings as necessary.
Each set value is dispayed on the right side button of the parameter.
For the parameter items and set values, see 8.3.2.
[Parameter to be set from options: The popup menu is displayed.]
1) Press the setting button of the desired
parameter.
2) When the pop-up menu is displayed, press
the desired setting button.
3) The pop-up menu closes and changed
setting is confirmed.
[Parameter to be set by numeric values: The
numeric keypad is displayed.]
1) Press the setting button of the desired
parameter.
2) When the numeric keypad is displayed,
enter the desired value and press the [Ent]
button.
* When canceling, press the [CE] button.
3) The numeric keypad closes and the
changed setting is confirmed.
3. Switch the Parameter screen as necessary.
Pressing the Screen change tab ([1], [2],
or [3]) to the upper left of the screen
switches the Parameter screen.
*Change the setting of the desired
parameter in the same procedure as in
Step 2.

4. Return to the Layout screen as necessary.
Pressing the [Exit] button to the upper right
of each Parameter screen returns to the
Layout screen.
* Depressing the [Exit] button displays the
System screen.
8.3.2 Parameter items and descriptions
[Parameter 1 screen]
1) System: Mini LAB, Entry LAB, Blocker LAB, Extended LAB, Blocker LE
Factory setting: Mini LAB (Blocker LE for the Ice 1000NT)
This parameter sets the system configuration where the Ice 1000 is connected.
Blocker LAB and Blocker LE are the settings for the Ice 1000NT.
2) My ID: 0 to 9999
Factory setting: 32
This parameter sets the ID No. for multiple Ice 1000 units on the network. Set any number
from 0 to 9999 for each unit.
3) Host ID: 0 to 9999
Factory setting: 32
This parameter sets the ID No. for the host instrument that is the server on the network.
Set any number from 0 to 9999.
4) Baud rate: 38400, 9600
Factory setting: 38400
This parameter sets the communication speed (Baud rate) for data communication using
EDGER 1 and EDGER 2 ports.

5) Edger2 port setting: Default, MEGNET, NAVIS, VCA, ePTN
Factory setting: Default
This parameter sets the system configuration for the EDGER 2 connector.
When the parameter is set to Default, the system configuration set by the 1) System
parameter is applicable to the EDGER2 port.
When the parameter is set to other than Default, the baud rate of the EDGER 2 port
is fixed at 9600 regardless of the setting of the 4) Baud rate parameter.
When connecting to MEGANET, select MEGNET.
When connecting to NAVIS-EC, select NAVIS.
When connecting to VCA server, select VCA.
When connecting to external PTN server, select ePTN.
6) Language: Japanese, English
Factory setting: Japanese
This parameter sets the language to be displayed. Select Japanese or English.
7) Initial CYL mode: / / + / Factory setting:
This is initial setting in the CYL reading mode.
8) Initial Groove Setting: On, Off
Factory setting: Off
This parameter sets whether or not to initialize the grooving setting after turning on,
reading the traced data, measuring the demo lens shape, and selecting the Nylor frame.
9) Blocking counter: Numeric value
Factory setting: 0
This parameter indicates the number of
the blocked lenses.
To clear the number, select the [Yes] or
[No] button in the “Do you clear the
blocking counter?” dialog box which
appears when the setting button of the
parameter is pressed.

10) Cup Mode: STD, Pliable, Mini, Nano
Factory setting: Pliable
This parameter sets the lens cup.
Selecting STD makes the following two functions available:
• The cup mark size can be changed by setting the Full eye minimum size, Minimum
edging H size, or Minimum edging V size parameter.
• The cup mark automatically switches between the standard cup and half-eye lens cup
according to the lens layout data.
When Pliable, Mini, or Nano is selected, the displayed cup mark does not change in size.
In addition, the Full eye minimum size, Minimum edging H size, and Minimum edging V
size parameter settings become invalid.
11) Full eye minimum size: 25.0 to 35.0 mm
Factory setting: 30.0 mm
This parameter sets the minimum diameter of the lens (when the standard cup is used)
that can be processed by a lens edger. Set any value from 25.0 to 35.0 mm (in increments
of 0.1 mm).
12) Minimum edging H size: 15.0 to 30.0mm
Factory setting: 22.0 mm
This parameter sets the minimum horizontal length of half-eye lens that can be processed
by a lend edger. Set any value from 15.0 to 30.0 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm) according
to the lens edger.
13) Minimum edging V size: 15.0 to 30.0 mm
Factory setting: 20.0 mm
This parameter sets the minimum vertical length of half-eye lens that can be processed
by a lens edger. Set any value from 15.0 to 30.0 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm).
14) Groove depth: 0 to 0.8 mm
Factory setting: 0.3 mm
This parameter sets the default groove depth to be displayed when the grooving function
is used.
Set any value from 0 to 0.8 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm).

15) Groove width: 0.6 to 1.2 mm
Factory setting: 0.6 mm
This parameter sets the default groove width to be displayed when the grooving function
is used.
Set any value from 0.6 to 1.2 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm).
16) Drill bit diameter: 0.5 to 5.0 mm
Factory setting: 0.8 mm
This parameter sets the default hole diameter when the hole position edit function is
used.
Set the minimum holde diameter according to the diameter of the lens edger drill.
Set any value from 0.5 to 5.0 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm).
17) Flute length: 1.0 to 10.0 mm
Factory setting: 6.0 mm
This parameter sets the maximum hole depth when the hole position edit function is
used.
Set the parameter according to the length of the lens edger drill.
Set any value from 1.0 to 10.0 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm).
18) Slot coordinate mode: Center, Edge
Factory setting: Center
Select Center or Edge for reference point
when entering slot coordinates in drilling
settings.

19) Auto Off Time: 0, 1, 2, 3 (minutes)
Factory setting: 0
This parameter is for setting the time to go in to the standby mode when the instrument
is idle. When set to 0, the instrument does not go in to the standby mode.
(When the measurement position is changing in a certain amount in the Blocking screen,
it is regarded as operated.)
In standby mode, the display and the lens table lamp are turned off and rotation of the
lens table reflector is stopped. To restore from standby mode, press the LCD touch screen,
press any of the three buttons under the LCD touch screen, or read a barcode with
internal/external barcode scanner.
20) Buzzer Sounds: 0, 1, 2, 3
Factory setting: 3
This parameter is for setting the control volume when operating the instrument. The
higher the value, the louder the sound becomes. When set to 0, no sound is heared.

21) Layout preset: -5.0 to +5.0 mm
Factory setting: +2.0 mm
This parameter sets the default of optical center height. Set any value from -5.0 to
+5.0 mm (in increments of 0.1 mm).
22) Optical center height input: Necessary, Unnecessary
Factory setting: Necessary
This parameter sets whether the default of optical center height is determined or not
when data is imported from the tracing unit or PTN memory.
When the parameter is set to Necessary and data is imported from the tracing unit or
PTN memory, the optical center height is not determined (the button is displayed in
yellow).
When the parameter is set to Unnecessary, the optical center height is determined (the
button is displayed in white).
23) Progressive EP input: Necessary, Unnecessary
Factory setting: Necessary
This parameter sets whether or not to confirm the entry of the EP value in the progressive
power lens layout data in the Point Mark mode.
When the parameter is set to Necessary, the setting button turns yellow and blocking
cannot be performed without the entry of the EP value.
When changing the EP value for each JOB data, setting the parameter to Necessary
prevents blocking errors due to failure in changing the value.
24) Diopter step: 0.01, 0.12, 0.25
Factory setting: 0.25
This parameter selects the SPH and CYL diopters from among 0.01 D, 0.12 D, and
0.25 D.
The setting of 0.01 D is only for adjustment. Do not select it for normal use.

25) Polish/S.B. setting: LEX, SE/ME
Factory setting: LEX
This parameter sets whether the lens edge is polished and/or safety-beveled with a lens
edger. Select LEX or SE/ME according to the lens edger to be used.
The selectable options for polishing and safety beveling differ according to the setting of
the parameter.

26) Manual mode scale: 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0
Factory setting: 2.0
This parameter sets the spacing between horizontal lines of the alignment scale displayed
on the manual Layout screen from among 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 mm.
When 0.0 mm is selected, the scale is not displayed.
27) Alignment mark V size: 0.0, 1.0, 2.0
Factory setting: 2.0
This parameter sets the height of the alignment mark (horizontally long ellipse) displayed
on the manual Layout screen from among 0.0, 1.0, and 2.0 mm.
When 0.0 mm is selected, the alignment mark becomes a straight line.
28) Auto JOB# increment: On, Off
Factory setting: On
This parameter sets whether or not to enable automatic entry of the job code (JOB#).
When the parameter is set to On, the job code is automatically increased by 1 each time
traced data is received.
When the parameter is set to OFF, the numeric keypad for entering JOB# is displayed
when traced data is received.
This setting is available only when the Ice 1000NT is configured in the Blocker LE system.

29) Lens holding time: 0.0 to 5.0 seconds
Factory setting: 0.0
This parameter sets the time during which the blocking arm stops at the lowest position
during blocking from 0.0 to 5.0 seconds.
Setting proper time allows confirming the attachment condition of a lens cup when a
super water repellent lens is blocked.
When the set time is 0.0 to 3.0 seconds:
The blocking arm stops for a set period of time, then returns to the original position.
When the set time is 3.1 seconds or more:
The parameter indicates “STOP”.
After blocking is completed, the blocking
arm stops and stays at the lowest
position.
Press the [Up] button on the screen or
to return the blocking
Block button
arm to the original position.
30) JOB# input interface:Tenkey, Keypad
Factory setting: Keypad
This parameter selects either Tenkey (numeric keypad) or Keypad (keyboard) to be
displayed for JOB# entry.
To enter alphabets as well as numbers for JOB#, select Keypad.
31) PTN# input interface: Tenkey, Keypad
Factory setting: Keypad
This parameter selects either Tenkey (numeric keypad) or Keypad (keyboard) to be
displayed for PTN# entry.
To enter alphabets as well as numbers for PTN#, select Keypad.
[Note]
To use JOB# or PTN# including alphabets, all connected instruments need to be
updated for this function.

8.3.3 System screen and settings
1. Display the System screen.
1) Press the [Menu] button on the Layout
screen.
2) When the pop-up menu is displayed, press
the [Parameter] button to display the
Parameter 1 screen.
3) Press and hold the [Exit] button on the
Parameter 1 screen.
4) The System screen is displayed.
2. Press the desired button on the System screen to change the contents related to adjustment
and setting of the instrument.
[Parameter Backup] button:
Used to save parameter settings to the USB
flash drive or to restore the saved parameter
settings.
Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port
in advance and press the [Save] or [Restore]
button.
[Com Port Check] button:
Press the [Check] button to check the
communication condition between
connected lens edger 1, lens edger 2, and
barcode scanner.

[Camera] button:
Used to adjust the camera.
The buttons for selecting camera and its
adjustment items, and camera images are
displayed.
The button to the upper left of the screen
indicates the camera which can be adjusted.
Pressing the [Camera A] button switches to
the [Camera B] button, which can be adjusted.
[Blocking] button:
Used to adjust blocking.
Select the desired motor with the [Position]
button to the lower right of the screen.
Pressing the numeric value to the right side
of [X], [Y], or [R] displays a numeric keypad,
through which a numeric value in each
direction can be entered.
[Size Calibration] button:
Used to calibrate the lens circumference with
the jig (φ 45 mm lens).
[Network] button:
Used to perform network-related settings
when the Ice 1000 is connected to a lens edger
or server.
* The MAC address values are specified to
the instrument. Do not change them.
* When replacing the main board (BA01), be
sure to write down the MAC address values
and set the same values after replacement.

3. Return to the Layout screen.
1) Press the [Exit] button on each setting screen to the System screen.
2) Press the [Exit] button on the System screen to return to the Layout screen.
