Portable Stereo Radio CD Player
Please read these instructions before use and keep for future reference.
WARNING: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MUST THE LIVE OR NEUTRAL WIRES BE
CONNECTED TO THE EARTH TERMINAL IN 3-PIN MAINS PLUG.
This symbol means that this unit is double insulated.
An earth connected is not required.
CAUTION: The power switch is the TAPE function switch located on top left side of the player. When operating from 230V mains supply this does not completely disconnect the unit from the mains supply. Please be assured that it is perfectly safe to leave the unit connected to the mains supply.
CAUTION
CLEANING: Ways disconnect the unit from mains supply before attempting to clean it.
Use soft cloth moistened with soap water, wipe gently.
Do not use solvents or abrasive materials.
* Save the carton and packing materials: they will be useful if you ever have to transport the unit.
Electrical Information
This appliance is fitted with a BS1363/A 13 amp plug. If it is not suitable for your supply sockets, it must be removed and replaced with an appropriate plug. If the plug becomes damaged and/or needs to be replaced, please follow the wiring instructions below. The plug removed must be disposed of immediately. It must not be plugged into a supply socket as this will be an electrical hazard.
If the fuse needs to be replaced, it must be of the same rating and ASTA approved to BS1362. If the plug is changed, a fuse of the appropriate rating must be fitted in the plug, adapter or at the distribution board. If the fuse in a mounded plug is replaced, the fuse cover must be refitted before the appliance can be used.
Wiring instructions
The supply cable will be 2-core. Follow the appropriate wiring instructions given below. In this case ensure that the outer sheath of the cable is firmly held by the cable clamp.

1. Places exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliance such as electric heaters, on top of other stereo equipment that radiate too much heat.
2. Places lacking ventilation or dusty places.
3. Places subject to constant vibration.
4. Humid or moist places. z Before turning on the power for the first time, make sure that the power cord is properly installed. z Store your tapes or CD in a cool area to avoid damage from heat.

WARNING: Remove batteries if exhausted or if they will not be used again for a long period.
The incorrect use of batteries can cause electrolyte leakage and will corrode the compartment or cause the batteries to burst, therefore:
Do not mix battery types, e.g. alkaline with zinc carbonate.
When inserting new batteries, replace all batteries at the same time.

Discs for Playback
This system can playback all digital audio CD, finalized digital audio CD-Recordable (CD-R) discs, finalized digital audio CD-Rewritable (CD-RW) discs and CD-DA format digital audio
CD/CD-R/CD-RW discs.

POWER SOURCE
This unit is designed to be operated on AC/DC.
AC OPERATION
Plug the smaller end of AC power cord into
AC jack on unit and the other bigger end into
AC wall outlet. The batteries will be automatically disconnected. For dual voltage version, make sure that the AC voltage selector (located on the bottom of the unit) is switched to your local voltage.(optional)
DC OPERATION
TO AC OUTLET
Open the BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR.
Install 6 pcs LR14 size batteries (not included) into compartment. Please follow correct polarities as indicated.
CAUTION z Remove batteries if they are flat or not being used for a long period of time. z Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be disposed of properly.
BASIC FUNCTION
SWITCHING ON THE UNIT
Set the FUNCTION switch to CD or TUNER.
TO ADJUST VOLUME
Rotate the VOLUME CONTROL back and forth to increase and decrease volume.
BASS BOOST SYSTEM
For more extra bass, press the BASS BOOST button. Press again to turn off bass.
HEADPHONES
For private listening, plug the headphones/earphones (not included) into PHONES jack (3.5 mm diameter).
CAUTION: Long time listening with headphones/earphones at high volumes may cause harmful damage to users’ ears.

USING THE RADIO
TUNING IN RADIO STATIONS
1. Move the FUNCTION switch to TUNER position, the POWER indicator will illuminate.
2. Slide the BAND switch to select the desired wave band: AM/FM/FM ST..
3. Tune to required station by rotating the TUNING KNOB.
4. Rotate the VOLUME CONTROL to comfortable volume level.
5. Extend the TELESCOPIC ANTENNA to its full length if you are listening to FM broadcasting.
Gently rock the unit back and forth to get the best reception when you are listening to MW program, or place the unit in an open place.
Note: If the broadcasting program is too noisy when you are listening to FM stereo station, please slide the BAND switch to FM. The FM STEREO indicator will be on if you are receiving FM stereo program.
6. Turn off the radio by switching the FUNCTION switch to "OFF" position.
USING THE CD
LOADING A DISC
1. Set the FUNCTION switch to CD position.
2. Open the CD door.
3. Place an audio CD into the tray with the label side facing up.
4. Close the CD door.
The total number of tracks will appear on the display after several seconds.
5. To remove the CD, press OPEN to open CD compartment lid, grasp the CD by its edges, and carefully take it out.
Note: z To ensure good system performance; wait until the disc tray completely reads the disc before proceeding. z If no disc is loaded into the compartment, or the disc is placed upside down, the display will show N0.
PLAYING A DISC
1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
The playback starts from track 1, the PLAY/PAUSE indicator on the right lower corner of the display illuminates.
To interrupt playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE button. The PLAY/PAUSE indicator flashes on and off.
To resume playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE button again, the PLAY/PAUSE indicator becomes steady on the display.
2. To stop playback, press the STOP button, the total number of tracks appears on the display.
SELECTING A DESIRED TRACK/PASSAGE
To select a desired track z Press the CD SKIP/SEARCH FORWARD/BACKWARD button repeatedly in stop mode or during play until the desired track appears on the display. z Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start play.

To search for a particular passage during playback (track scanning at high speed) z Press and hold the CD SKIP/SEARCH FORWARD/BACKWARD button to scan the current playing track at high speed until desired point passage, then release the button. z Playback will start again from this point .
PROGRAM TRACKS
Programming tracks of disc are possible when playback is stopped. Up to 20 tracks can be stored in the memory in any order.
1. In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button, the will be on.
01 will flash and the PROGRAM indicator
2. Press the CD SKIP/SEARCH FORWARD button to select the first desired track to be programmed.
3. Press the PROGRAM button to enter. The display changes to show 02 flashing.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 to store other desired tracks until all tracks are programmed.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback from the first programmed track.
6. Press the STOP button to stop program playback.
Note: Program function can only be done in stop mode.
To Erase the Memory (Program)
To clear the program, you have two options:
1. Press the STOP button when the disc is stopped, or
2. Open the CD compartment lid, program will be erased.
REPEAT
You can play one track or all tracks on the disc repeatedly.
To Repeat a Single Track
1. Press the REPEAT button once during play, the CD REPEAT indicator will flash on and off.
The current track will be played over and over again till you press the STOP button.
2. To cancel repeat play, press the REPEAT button twice. the CD REPEAT indicator turns off.
To repeat all Tracks
1. Press the REPEAT button twice during play, the CD REPEAT indicator becomes steady on, all tracks on the disc will be played over and over again till you press the STOP button.
2. To cancel repeat play, press the REPEAT button once, the CD REPEAT indicator turns off.
Note: Repeat function also can be done in stop mode.
RANDOM PLAY
Press the CD RANDOM button in stop mode, the unit will play starting from any track selected by the unit in random order until all tracks are played and then stop.

COMPACT DISC MAINTENANCE
1. Always use a compact disc bearing the mark as shown.
2. Notes on handing discs z Removing the disc from its storage case and loading it. z Do not touch the reflective recorded surface. z Do not stick paper or write anything on the surface. z Do not bend the disc.
3. Storage z Store the disc in its case. z DO not expose discs to direct sunlight or high temperatures, high humidity or dusty places.
4. Cleaning a disc z Should the disc become soiled, wipe off dust, dirt and fingerprints with a sort cloth. z The disc should be cleaned from the center to the edge.

FROM THE CENTRE TO THE EDGE z Never use benzene, thinners, record cleaner fluid or anti-static spray. z Be sure to close the CD door, so the lens is not contaminated by dust. z Do not touch the lens.
Your hearing is very important to you and to us so please take care when operating this equipment. It is strongly recommended that you follow the listed guidelines in order to prevent possible damage or loss of hearing.
ESTABLISH A SAFE SOUND LEVEL y Over time your hearing will adapt to continuous loud sounds and will give the impression that the volume has in fact been reduced. What seems normal to you may in fact be harmful.
To guard against this BEFORE YOUR HEARING ADAPTS set the volume at a low level. y Slowly increase the level until you can hear comfortably and clearly and without distortion. y Damage to your hearing is accumulative and is irreversible. y Any ringing or discomfort in the ears indicates that the volume is too loud.
Once you have established a comfortable listening level, DO NOT INCREASE THE SOUND
LEVEL FURTHER.
