The Digital Satellite News Gathering Coder/Decoder E5910 is a low bit-rate, transportable, digital exciter designed specifically for digital satellite news gathering applications. It is compact and lightweight, fully MPEG-2 and DVB compliant, and has high performance for the transmission of studio-quality video material. The equipment is designed to be suitable for both flyaway use (within an appropriate flight case) and truck installation. A single 5U chassis houses video, audio and data encoding, multiplexing and modulation functions. The unit is fully configurable and extremely flexible, while still being simple to operate and maintain. Various alignment, testing and diagnostic facilities have been incorporated to assist with operation and maintenance in the field.
