Personal Radiation Monitor/Dosimeter
The Model 25-1 is a small "pager" sized device
designed to warn users anytime they are in a
potentially harmful radiation environment. The unit
will automatically alarm anytime either the dose rate
or accumulated dose setpoints are exceeded with a
loud audible signal and blinking display. This small

Spectroscopic Personal Radiation Detectors Model
1703 series
The PM1703MO family instruments combine
functionality of the Spectroscopic Personal Radiation
Detector (SPRD) and dosimeter in the one housing.
The highly sensitive CsI(Tl) detector enables prompt
gamma radiation detection, source location and
primary radionuclide identification. The GM tube
based detector ensures precise dose and dose rate
measurement.
The Spectroscopic Personal Radiation Detector
consists of two separate parts:

Polimaster's PM1621 and PM1621A Personal X-ray
and Gamma Radiation Dosimeters are professional
energy-compensated instruments. These dosimeters
monitor and measure the personal dose equivalent
Hp(10) and personal dose equivalent rate Hp(10)
from both gamma and X-ray radiation. Their ability to
compensate for the energy variations in the range
from 10 keV upto 20MeV allows these personal

Wrist Gamma Indicator Model PM1208M
The PM1208M Wrist Gamma Indicator is a stylish
combination of gamma dosimeter and a Swiss-made
quartz watch that continuously monitors
environmental radiation levels and alerts user in case
of danger with an audible alarm. The PM1208M can
be used by both professionals dealing with radiation
on a daily basis and concerned citizens.

Whole Body Dosimeter - Model L-OSL-WB
The InLight dosimeter provides x, gamma, and beta
radiation monitoring with optically stimulated
luminescence (OSL) technology. OSL technology is the
newest advancement in passive radiation protection
dosimetry. This InLight dosimeter offers reanalysis
and imaging capabilities, precision with a wide
dynamic range of measurement, long-term stability,
and environmental integrity. This dosimeter is
engineered to be read out by an InLight reader.
The Landauer InLight dosimeter design contains an
assembly of a case component with an open window,
aluminum, copper, and plastic filters, along with a
four-positioned aluminum oxide detector slide
component. Both the case and slide are uniquely bar
coded with serial numbers for chain of custody and
sensitivity identification.

InLight whole body Dosimeter Reader - Model
Microstar
The MicroStar reader provides readout for InLight
System dosimeters. The InLight System measures
radiation exposure with aluminum oxide detectors (Al
2O3:C) read out by optically stimulated luminescence
(OSL) technology. The reader stimulates the detector
with a light emitting diode (LED) array causing it to
luminesce in proportion to the amount of radiation
exposure and the intensity of stimulation light. The
luminescence is detected and measured by the
reader’s photo multiplier tube using a high sensitivity
photon counting system.
A dose calculation algorithm is then applied to the
measurement to determine exposure results. This
nondestructive type of readout allows for dose
verification through reanalysis.
InLight menu-driven software residing on an external
PC provides control over the setup, analysis, and data
recording enabling dosimeter read out and reader
quality control.

Bubble Detector Reader – BDR3
BTI bubble detectors consist of an elastic polymer
throughout which droplets of a superheated liquid
have been dispersed. When these droplets are struck
by neutrons they form small gas bubbles that remain
fixed in the polymer to provide a visual record of the
dose. Dose is directly proportional to the number of

General Purpose Ratemeter - Model 3
This is Ludlum's best selling, general purpose,
handheld analog ratemeter known for accuracy and
long-lasting dependability. The analog meter comes
in a variety of measurement ranges and units to
support the external radiation detector selected.
The aluminum cast instrument housing with its
separate battery compartment and accompanying
metal handle offer an industrial robustness and
quality that promote long-lasting protection and
instrument life. The front-panel controls include a
rotary switch for selecting the four-decade range,
instrument shut-off, battery test, an audio on/off
switch, a fast/slow response switch, and a count reset
button.
A one meter (39 in.) straight type detector cable with
"C" style connector is included in the price of the
instrument.

General Purpose Ratemeter/Scaler - Model 2241
This instrument is a general purpose, digital
ratemeter with a built-in scaler that facilitates timed
counts over a user specified period. This system will
store detector setup information for up to 6 detectors
so trained personnel can change detectors in the
field. The LCD presents readings in a 4-digit moving
decimal format together with one of a wide range of
available units of measure and is accompanied by
several operational & alert icons.
This instrument features adjustable Alert & Alarm
setpoints for both the Ratemeter & Scaler modes.
Front panel controls include a rotary switch for
selecting between Off, Ratemeter Mode and Scaler
Mode, switches for audio on/off and fast/slow
response time, plus push buttons for activating the
LCD backlight and one for either resetting the counts
or acknowledging any alarms. Calibration, user

Neutron Dose Ratemeter - Model 2241-4
The Model 2241-4 is a portable neutron REM meter.
This instrument combines Ludlum's microprocessorbased digital Ratemeter/Scaler Model 2241
electronics with a Model 42-31H Neutron Detector.
This system is sensitive to neutrons from thermal to
12 MeV with a response approximating the inverse
RPG curve for neutron dose.
Data is presented on a four-digit LCD with a moving
decimal point. Two additional digits are employed for
the Scaler mode. A three-position switch labeled
˝Off/Ratemeter/Scaler˝ selects the desired operating
mode for the instrument.
This instrument incorporates independent adjustable
alarms for the ratemeter and scaler operating modes.
Audible alarms may be silenced (acknowledged) by
depressing the RESET switch.
Medical Application :
NCRP Report #151 redefines the need to evaluate not
only new Linac installations but also equipment that
has been upgraded for higher energies and broader
capabilities, like IMRT and rotational beam systems,
which may be beyond what original shielding designs
had recommended

Pocket Size Exposure & Count Ratemeter - Model
2401-EC
The Model 2401-EC instrument is a pocket size
radiation detection meter with an integrated energy
compensated GM tube for measuring gamma
exposure. The meter measures 0-200 mR/hr
exposure rate and also 0 - 210,000 cpm via separate
scales. The metal case offers excellent protection
against abuse. The overall size and integrated design
facilitate ease of use.

The Radhound : digital radiation monitor for alpha,

The Radhound is a powerful general purpose nuclear
contamination monitor suitable for use with Geiger

Ion Chamber Survey Meter - Model 9DP
The Ludlum Model 9DP, pressurized ion chamber
meter, provides highly sensitive measurements of
exposure and exposure rate. It can simultaneously
display the exposure rate, integrated value and

value can be reset (if desired) using one of the four

Spectroscopic Area Monitor System - Model 720
The Model 720 Spectroscopic Area Monitor is a high
powered system that not only logs routine ambient
radiation levels and annunciates any alarms, but
additionally identifies the isotope(s) that are present
whenever an alarm is manifested.
This intelligent system is designed to be connected to
an Ethernet network that can accommodate up to 50
Ludlum radiation area monitors. Upon an alarm, the
Model 720 will automatically capture a spectrum and
analyze it against a library of up to 100 isotopes and
then convey the results over the network where it
can be viewed by Ludlum’s Webpage & Service
Software using any standard browser program.
All data are logged to a MS SQL database and if
desired to a csv type file. Up to 10 browsers (more
with purchase of other versions of MS SQL) can then
access all the data including a system overview,
incident reports and timeline graphs.
Each incident will also collect and store the spectrum
along with the analysis identifying the isotopes that
were present. If optional network cameras are
connected to the system, an image of the offending
item is additionally captured and sent to the database
where it is stored along with the other incident data.

Radionuclide detection and identification systems are

Security Area Monitor - Model 252
The Model 252 was primarily designed as a security
type area radiation monitor intended to watch over
highly radioactive materials confined to a protected
area. The system incorporates an energy
compensated GM detector.
If the ambient radiation level ever exceeds or falls
below set limits, or if the optional remote security
sensor is triggered, an alarm is immediately posted
through an ethernet connection and via a relay
output.
A network of up to 50 security type area monitors can
all be monitored simultaneously using Ludlum’s
Webpage and Service Software. This system
monitors all areas in real time, logs data, and posts

Model: 7043 : Portable Tritium-in-Air-Monitor
Compensation for Gamma background is crucial in
tritium measurement, since a gamma field of 1mR/Hr
will generate 500 times the ionization generated in
1µCi/m³ of tritium. Tyne designed the four, 250 cc ion
–chambers in a cruciform with each chamber
connected to an ultra sensitive electrometer amplifier
and filter. All signals pass through the ADC converter,
and the micro-processor calculates and displays the
tritium value. To cover high ranges of tritium a
separate small ion chamber is used. Measurements
such as flow from the solid-state flowmeter and
chamber temperature are also monitored by the
micro-processor.
Instrument output includes analog (0-5V, 4-20mA);
relay alarm contact (30VDC, 1A) for operation of
external equipment; and communication
(RS232/RS485) to enable downloading or recording of
information onto a computer. The TFT full color LCD
display mounted on the surface plate clearly displays
instrument readings in both digital and graphic
format to show real time measurements and trends.
The well balanced, easy-to-carry instrument can be
placed on its end for easy visibility of the touch
screen monitors to operators working away from the
instrument.
Batteries installed in the handle are easily replaced.
A powerful long-life pump can be used to draw air
through a 10 meter tube. This allows the instrument
to be used to measure the inside of rooms without
the need to enter the room.

Pulse Generator - Model 500-2
The Model 500-2 Pulse Generator (Pulser) provides
the functions necessary for use in calibrating Ludlum
instruments, as well as many other scaler/ratemeter
instruments. The adjustable output pulse rate is
displayed on a three-digit LED readout.
Potentiometers and a multiplier switch provide rates
from 10 to 9.9x106 cpm. Pulse amplitude is
controlled by a multiplier switch and a LO/HI
potentiometer, while pulse polarity is chosen by a
selector switch. Amplitude may be varied between 0
and a negative or positive 5V; displayed on LED
readout. The high voltage of the instrument under
test is displayed on LED readout.

Bind-It radioactive decontaminant for Iode :
Bind-It Decontamination Fluid has a unique affinity
for I123/I125/I126/I131. This strong ionic attraction
binds the iodine and suspends it in solution so that
when combined with water it becomes a sudsing
cleaner that "lifts" laboratory dirt and residual iodine
off surfaces so it can be easily wiped away.
Bind-It Decontamination Fluid also contains
antibacterial properties for further laboratory safety.
Bind-It Decontamination Fluid is safe for use on
delicate gamma counter detectors and gamma
camera heads.
The Bind-It products consist of concentrated cleaner
and hand soap designed specifically for removal of
radioactive iodine.
Further, while many other radioactive cleaners rely
on harsh chemicals to decontaminate, Bind-It is noncorrosive. It will not harm the delicate metal housing
of well counter detectors or thyroid probes.
Hand Soap

Interwinner 7.0
InterWinner 7.0 is a universal nuclear spectroscopy
analytical program simultaneously controlling up to 32
inputs. InterWinner provides different analysis
engines for Germanium, NaI, LaBr and CZT based
gamma spectroscopy as well as solid state Alpha spectroscopy. InterWinner is available in versions to support several or all of these detector types.
InterWinner controls all detector, amplifier and ADC
setup parameters as well as data acquisition parameters and spectrum storage. InterWinner incorporates complete qualitative and quantitative analysis
containing modules for all auxiliary data files
necessary for thorough interpretation, research and
sophisticated report generation. Through a multidocument based user interface, InterWinner offers
the possibility to display in multiple windows as many
as 1024 different spectra and an unlimited number of
regions of interest of any of the individual spectra.
Spectra currently in acquisition or loaded from hard
disk are shown and can be handled synchronous, while
all the auxiliary data files (such as isotope tables) are
handled in the same interface plus many can be
loaded parallel.
InterWinner is not bound to the MCA hardware
delivered by Itech Instruments but can be used with
nearly every commercially available MCA with the
same full hardware functionality and spectral analysis
The analysis of any spectrum in InterWinner can be
started during it’s acquisition and is frequently
updated while the new data is acquired. This includes
both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Thus peak

PC-Based Gamma MCA System - Model 732 -733
The Model 732 is an affordable PC-based gamma
spectroscopy system conveniently packaged to run
directly on your PC. The system includes a detector,
USB cable, and PC Spectrum Acquisition & Analysis
Software (SAAS). The Model 732 gamma detector is a
combined MCA, HV Power Supply and 5.1 x 5.1 cm (2 x
2 inch) NaI(Tl) scintillator. Ludlum also offers a Model
733 that is identical, except it incorporates a larger 7.6
x 7.6 cm (3 x 3 inch) NaI(Tl) scintillator. The detector
receives its power directly from the PC via the USB
interface so no extra cables are required.
The MCA is equipped with 1024 channels and utilizes a
10-bit Wilkinson type ADC. Spectra are acquired and
then sent via the USB interface to the PC once every
second where they are analyzed and stored by the
SAAS software. The SAAS software package is a very
basic and user-friendly program that facilitates
spectrum acquisition and analysis. Once calibrated,
the user can acquire live streaming data or previously
stored spectra and perform peak analysis, select userdefined ROIs, and exercise spectrum stabilization,
stripping, smoothing, and normalization math
routines. Spectral data can also be exported to more
powerful MCA programs to perform additional
quantitative and qualitative analysis for determining
the activity and isotope identification.

ANIQSpec Integrated Spectroscopy System
ANIQSpec is a Multi-Channel Analyzer spectroscopy
system (MCA). A spectroscopy system begins with a
detector that outputs voltage pulses. The detector is
typically powered with an applied high-voltage, and
the signals are sent through an amplifier, which also
shapes the pulses. The amplified pulses are fed into
an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), which
generates the digital signal suitable for computer
data representation.
The MCA board has a 4096-channel memory, where
each channel represents a small voltage interval. Each
time a pulse is received from the ADC, the contents of
the appropriate channel is incremented by one. The
MCA responds to commands from a software
package, which includes start/stop data acquisition,
transfer data to the PC, and clear the memory of the
MCA.
In addition, ANIQSpec comes with a general I/O board
to receive signals a wide variety of sensors.

ANIQMCA Acquisition & Analysis Software
ANIQMCA is designed to acquire spectral data in
single periods, and display the spectrum in graphical
mode. It controls and downloads data from the
ANIQSpec Spectroscopy Modules. ANIQMCA allows

by the memory of PC. Each document is a histogram
with an array size of either 1024, 2048 or 4096
channels. Each channel contains an integer from 0 to

MCA8000 Multichannel Analyzer
The MCA8000 is a general purpose multichannel

Kromek GR1-Spectro Gamma Ray Spectrometer
Kromek K102-Multichannel Analyser
The Kromek GR1-Spectro is a high-performance
gamma ray spectrometer utilizing a cadmium zinc
telluride (CdZnTe) detector. It is completely selfcontained, with built-in preamplifier, shaping
amplifier, baseline restorer, pulse height digitizer, and
HV supply.
The digitized pulse heights of detected gamma-ray
signals are sent to a PC via the USB. The unit is
powered entirely from the USB bus, so no external

Spectroscopic Area Monitor System - Model 720
The Model 720 Spectroscopic Area Monitor is a high
powered system that not only logs routine ambient
radiation levels and annunciates any alarms, but
additionally identifies the isotope(s) that are present
whenever an alarm is manifested.
This intelligent system is designed to be connected to
an Ethernet network that can accommodate up to 50
Ludlum radiation area monitors. Upon an alarm, the
Model 720 will automatically capture a spectrum and
analyze it against a library of up to 100 isotopes and
then convey the results over the network where it
can be viewed by Ludlum’s Webpage & Service
Software using any standard browser program.
All data are logged to a MS SQL database and if
desired to a csv type file. Up to 10 browsers (more
with purchase of other versions of MS SQL) can then
access all the data including a system overview,
incident reports and timeline graphs.
Each incident will also collect and store the spectrum
along with the analysis identifying the isotopes that
were present. If optional network cameras are
connected to the system, an image of the offending
item is additionally captured and sent to the database
where it is stored along with the other incident data.

N-Type HPGe Detectors
PGT N-type germanium coaxial detectors are useful
down to ~3 keV, since they have a standard beryllium
entrance window and a thin (0.3 µm) P+ face. The
NIGC extended range detectors are therefore the best
choice for applications involving both X-ray and highenergy gamma-ray spectroscopy in the same sample.
These detectors exhibit excellent timing characteristics
and are appropriate with anti-Compton shielding. They
are thus especially suitable for suppression of
Compton scattering to reduce background.
Fast neutrons can generate hole trapping centers,
whose presence is manisfested by poor resolution at
1.33 MeV or higher. Because the main charge carriers
in NIGC detectors are electrons, which are not as
easily trapped as holes, these detectors are more
resistant to neutron damage than are P-type
detectors. This makes them ideal under conditions of
high neutron flux. PGT NIGC detectors have even
proven themselves in space and high-altitude
applications. N-type high-purity germanium, with ionimplanted exterior surface and lithium diffusion center
contact.

Waste Assay Monitor
The WAM-200 measuring facility is intended for the
measurement and the determination of activities,
activity concentrations, total activities and total
activity concentrations of the selected radionuclides
which emit gamma radiation in a range from 100 to
1500 keV. Total activities are the sum of activities of
individual radionuclides; and total activity
concentrations are the sum of all activity

N-PROBE is a revolutionary portable neutron

Personnel Portal Monitor - Model 52-1
The Model 52-1 Portal Monitor is used for
Beta/Gamma personnel contamination monitoring
and meets the FEMA standard for Emergency
Response Portal Monitoring (FEMA-REP-21). It is
designed to be disassembled for ease of
transportation and storage, and can be set up in
under 5 minutes or less without any tools. The nonvolatile parameters are preset at the factory to detect
a 1.0 uCi Cs-137 source in a 10 uR/hr background
field. The electronics are microprocessor-based for
ease of setup and reliability. Status LEDs indicate
count cycle status. Audible signals accompany the
LEDs for additional indication. Detector counts,
background, and all parameters may be viewed on
the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). All setup is
accomplished by way of pushbuttons located below
the LCD. These portal monitors can be operated in a
walk-through basis with a quick scan occurring while

Hand & Foot Contamination Monitor - Model 4901P
The Model 490lP Beta/Gamma Hand & Shoe Monitor
is intended for use as a medium-level beta and
gamma contamination monitor. There are four count
channels in the standard configuration, monitoring
the palms of each hand and the soles of each shoe.
The Model 490lP employs a total of twenty-two
pancake Geiger-Mueller (GM)type detectors, five in
each hand detector (palm side only) and six in each
foot detector. LED indicators show status and alarm
location. The Model 4901P allows parameter
updating by viewing the built-in 16-character LCD
display. Detector counts, background, alarm set
points and all parameters may be viewed on the LCD
display. Switches at each hand detector initiate an
interrogation (both switches must activate). Audible
alarm and status change indications are standard.

The newly designed Model 53 Gamma Personnel
Portal detects gamma radiation in or on personnel
passing through the portal from either direction. This
highly sensitive portal uses eight large plastic

Geo-Exploration System - Model 4404-16
The Ludlum Model 4404-16 Geo-Exploration System
provides radiation surface measurements to help
discern the underlying geology. This instrument

Mud Monitor
During drilling operations a radioactive source is
often used to log reservoir properties. Incidents have
occurred where the radioactive source has been
damaged by the drill bit resulting in contamination of
the drilling mud and the mud tank leading to
potential radiation exposure of workers.
The Mud Monitor is intrinsically safe (has been tested
and certified for use in potentially
explosive atmospheres, zones 0, 1 and 2). The
instrument is easily clamped to the outside of the
mud circulation system via the powerful magnet
provided. A sensitive detector links with the
directional drilling control system.

Capintec Wipe Test/Well Counter - Model CAPRAC
The CAPRAC Wipe test/Well Counter provides, speed
accuracy and a complete range of built-in features. It
will detect extremely low levels of activity and will
perform a wipe test in just 6 seconds (for 1nCi). The
CAPRAC meets ‘10 CFR Part 35.315’ requirements
(200 dpm for unrestricted areas and iodine

The CAPRAC can also serve as a single-well gamma

Atomlab 500 Dose Calibrator
The Atomlab™ 500 provides fast, accurate
radionuclide activity measurements with performance
that easily complies with the most stringent
regulatory requirements. The system consists of a
new low pressure ionization chamber with redesigned
seal, electrometer with extraordinary linearity and an
autoranging touch screen color display. Now one dose

Atomlab Wipe Test Counter
Finally, a wipe test counter that’s easy to use, easy to
understand, fast and dependable. A color touchscreen display utilizing intuitive software eliminates
the tedium of wipe testing. Simply perform a daily
calibration and background count, then count the
wipe for each predetermined location. Trigger levels
can be set for any isotope at any location including
200 dpm for iodine. In seconds the system will
determine if the location is above or below the user
defined trigger level.
When performing a wipe test, the full spectrum is
displayed. A wide window that includes the isotope
energies expected in a particular department is set by
the user. The efficiencies of the isotopes selected for
the window can be either factory defaults or user
determined using an integrated detector efficiency
program. Individual isotope ROIs along with the wide
window can be set. This feature helps identify the
isotope(s) causing contamination.
Up to 50 wipe locations can be entered as a restricted
area, unrestricted area, sealed source or package. The
results are displayed in dpm, cpm, μCi or kBq.
The system consists of a lead shielded 2" x 2" sodium
iodide (NaI) well detector and a 64 channel multichannel analyzer. The displayed energy range
(spectrum) is 0-800 KeV, which is typically found in
nuclear medicine departments. The wipe counter is
designed to meet or exceed all NRC (10 CFR 35.70, 10
CFR 20.1906 and 10 CFR 35.2067) and state wipe test
requirements. There are automated programs for the

The Ludlum 4525-7000 Radiation Gate Monitor
represents state-of-the-art technology at detecting
orphan radiation sources. Ludlum has sold over 800
of these types of systems throughout the world to
scrap yards, recycling companies, landfills, and
foundries. The 4525 series detectors are ruggedized
large plastic scintillation systems that can be
optimally arranged to monitor moving vehicles
entering into the system.
Each detector system can be configured with either 2,
3, 4, 5 or 6 large detectors, the Model 7000 uses 2.
Real-time data acquisition and analysis is performed
directly at each detector system and then reported to
a central PC for logging, reporting and alarm
notification. Up to 4 detector systems (lanes) can be
networked together via Ethernet or wireless to the
central PC where vehicles entering from either
direction can be monitored in real time. Each
detector system additionally includes a remote
control/enunciator panel to support operator
awareness, alarm acknowledgement and if necessary
backup operation in the event the central PC is
unavailable.
Data from all the system sensors are acquired and
checked by powerful, field-tested and time-proven
algorithms designed to check each load vigorously in
a multi-dimensional, multi-layered manner before
declaring any load as clean. Any abnormality is
immediately alarmed and annunciated both locally
and remotely. An optional camera system can
capture the image of the offending vehicle and
identify to the operator the location of the
radioactivity on the image to facilitate a more
immediate investigation. The image is included in the
logged data for permanent record keeping. Alarms

The system is designed for ease-of-use and can be

PM2010M is a two-in-one instrument featuring

PM1401T Contraband Detector
Small hand-held contraband detector for search of
concealed contraband items, such as explosives,
drugs, guns etc., in the tires, walls and hollows.
Recommended for use by Customs Officers, Border
Patrol and Law Enforcement Agencies.
Polimaster’s PM1401T contraband detector is a lightweight portable device which can detect the presence
of the hidden materials in the concealed areas.
The operation of the instrument is based on detecting

of backscattered radiation from a built-in Ba source
while moving the PM1401T across the investigated
object.
The backscattered radiation is detected by a highly
sensitive CsI scintillation detector.
The backscattering from the filled hollow space (such
as contraband drug or guns in the car tires) reflects
the gamma rays differently from non-filled space
(such as air-filled tire) or solid material (such as piece
of thick rubber). The PM1401T can easily detect the
density changes and alert of the presence of
contraband through visual, audible and vibration
alarms.
In spite of the fact that the PM1401T has a built-in
radioactive source, there is no danger to an operator.
The source is properly shielded and gamma rays are
emitted only in the direction of the inspected object.
PM1401T is also able to detect gamma radiation from
radioactive and nuclear materials and can be used as
an additional Personal Radiation Detector (PRD) at
customs checkpoints for preventing illicit trafficking of
the radioactive and nuclear materials.

Wire IQI (EN 462-1)
Wire type IQIs to EN 462-1:1994 comprise seven
parallel wires 10, 25 or 50mm long, which are
encapsulated in thin, transparent plastic along with a
radio-opaque identification plaque. Each IQI is
supplied in a wallet. For ease of recognition, the
wallet carries stickers showing the IQI model and wire

Step/Hole IQI (EN 462-2)
The EN 462-2 IQIs comprise six plaques, measuring 5 x
7mm, 7 x 10mm or 15 x 15mm, which are
encapsulated in transparent plastic along with an
identification monogram in cast white metal. Each
plaque has one or two through-drilled holes whose
diameter is the same as the plaque thickness. The IQIs

Duplex IQI (EN 462-5)
For measuring image unsharpness, it is a particularly
useful tool for establishing and monitoring the
performance of radioscopic (real-time) systems. The
CEN standard, EN 13068 makes its use mandatory in
certain cases. The IQI consists of 13 wire pairs
embedded in rigid plastic. The wires of platinum and
tungsten and are exactly spaced to correspond to the
diameter of each pair.
The degree of unsharpness is indicated by the number
of wire pairs that can be seen. As unsharpness
increases, the wires merge to form a single image.
Each IQI is engraved with a unique serial number and
is supplied with a Declaration of Conformity together
with instructions in a storage box.

Wire IQI (ASTM E-747)
These IQIs comprise six parallel wires, encapsulated in
thin PVC with two radio-opaque identification
plaques. Each IQI is batch numbered and is supplied
with a Declaration of Conformity in a storage wallet.
The certificate contains a quality history and a print
out of the wire diameters*. Our manufacturing and

Plaque IQI (ASTM E-1025)
Over the last fifteen years and more, there has been a
rationalisation of American standards for IQIs. For all
practical purposes, plaque type penetrameters
manufactured in accordance with ASTM E 1025 are
now acceptable when working to: ASME V, ASTM E
142, ASME SE-142, ASME section VIII, API 650 and API
1104.
The penetrameters are characterised by having three
holes: 1x, 2x and 4x the thickness (T) of the material
from which the penetrameter is made, with minimum
diameters of 0.01, 0.02 and 0.04in.

Peneterameters IQI (ASTM E-1742)
These penetrameters were formerly the subject of
MIL-STD-453. In common with the cost cutting
measures of many governments, the US military has
delegated most standardisation activities to a
civilian/commercial body. So, MIL-STD-453 has now
become ASTM E-1742. The penetrameter design and
numbering system remain the same.
The penetrameters have three holes: 1x, 2x and 4x
the plaque thickness, a material identification (e.g. FE)
and the penetrameter number in lead. The overall
length is slightly greater than the ASTM E 1025 types.

purity of specific Tc-99m-labeled

TEC-CONTROL ALUMINUM BREAKTHRU KIT
Simple 3-step procedure
The Aluminum Breakthru Kit provides a rapid, easy
and inexpensive way to test aqueous
solutions, particularly pertechnetate generator
eluate, for trace quantities of aluminum.
Aluminum forms an intense red precipitate with the
indicator paper, and the intensity of the
color is directly proportional to the amount of
aluminum in the solution. The USP allows a
concentration of aluminum ion in an injection ≤10
micrograms per milliliter (10 µg/ml) in
technetium 99m eluate prepared from Molybdenum
99 formed as a result of uranium fission.
Simple Procedure:
1. Place a drop of the eluate or solution to be tested
on the indicator paper.
The best procedure is to form a hanging drop using
a 19-22G needle.
2. Place a drop of the standard aluminum solution on
the indicator paper.
Use the same size drop.
3. Compare the intensity of the red spot formed. If
the eluate spot is less intense
than the standard solution, the eluate contains less
than 10µg/ml aluminum.

Collimator/ Beam Alignment Test Tool
The Ludlum Model L-661-662 Collimator/ Beam
Alignment test tool provides the necessary
verification of the proper congruence of the
collimator light field and the x-ray beam. Misalignment of the collimator may cause key portions of
the image to be missing from the radiographic image.
The beam alignment (cylinder) portion of the test tool
confirms that the central ray is perpendicular to the
image receptor. Improper beam alignment will cause
a distorted radiographic image.

Fluoroscopic Beam Alignment Tool
The Ludlum Fluoroscopic Beam Alignment device
consists of an aluminum plate with 4 sliding brass
strips set in recessed channels. The strips define the
border or visible area of the image receptor. A plastic
overaly prevents any vertical displacement of the
brass strips. Holes drilled in half inch intervals are
filled with higher density material for visibility
through the brass strips. The device when placed in
the center of the image receptor is designed to
correct or optimize fluoroscopic collimation.
Any portion of the fluoroscopic field that falls outside
the image receptor does not contribute to the useful
image and can lead to unnecessary exposure to the
patient. This very simple but critical measurement
will identify a misaligned fluoroscopic system.

CR/DR TG-116 Filter Holder Set - Model L-116
One of the key benefits of Digital Radiography (DR) is
the ability to make image quality corrections after the
exposure has been made. Image Contrast, Density
and Brightness values are easily controlled at
workstation display screens. Initial exposure settings
are greatly simplified with DR. The technologist has a
much wider exposure latitude when setting up
techniques for imaging various parts of the anatomy.
However, this wide exposure latitude can also lead to
potentially excessive patient exposure and subtle
reductions in quality due to increased Noise levels in
the image.
The new Ludlum CR/DR TG-116 Filter Holder Set is
designed to simplify the filtration requirements
needed to achieve the needed beam hardening
conditions necessary to reach the desired Exposure DI
for the various anatomical views being established.
The copper filter is permanently bonded to the
polycarbon base material. The copper filter is covered
with an acrylic pocket, 6mm in height. The pocket,
open on one side, will hold all of the provided filters*.
The polycarbon material is easily cut with a standard
utility knife or sheers to accommodate the two most
common collimator track sizes in a given department.
The base may also be attached with the provided
hook and loop strips for odd sized collimators.

NEMA SCA&I Fluoroscopic Phantom - Model L-901
The NEMA-SCA&I was developed to evaluate and
standardize the Interventional fluoroscopic image.
The design is the result of a collaboration of efforts
between the Society for Cardiac Angiography and
Interventions and the National Electric Manufacturers
Association. Use of the phantom provides voluntary
compliance with published NEMA standard XR21.
The phantom is primarily manufactured from PMMA
(acrylic) with x-ray absorption properties similar to
soft tissue at standard diagnostic energies. There are
a variety of static and dynamic test targets designed
to assess spatial resolution, motion unsharpness and
radiation exposure.
The 12 PMMA plates provide a variety of phantom

Patient Penetrometer Kit - Model L-706
The Ludlum Model L- 706 Patient Penetrometer Kit
provides the necessary patient phantom attenuation
material to test the (exposure rate) output of any
standard or digital fluoroscopic system. The
Penetrometer Kit is designed to work with most any
x-ray exposure or multimeter measurement device.
The Kit consists of ( four ) 7” x 7” x (3/8”) plates of
high- purity (1100) aluminum. These blocks simulate
the attenuation of 26cm of water or a very large adult

Photometer - Model PMLX
The model PMLX Precision Photometer is designed to
measure both illuminance (the amount of light falling
on a surface) in lux (lumens per m2 ) and luminance
(the amount of light emitted from a surface in ‘nit’
(candela per m2 ).
The Precision Photometer quickly verifies that
collimator light sources are in accordance with

Surgical guidance system for radio-isotope label
The C-Trak Surgical Guidance System from Care Wise
has been designed to be used by a surgeon in
identifying tissues which contain a radioisotope label.
The heart of the system is a small, hand-held gamma
detector, the C-Trak® probe. With this probe, the
surgeon can also determine whether surgically
removed tissue contains radioisotope material and,
by repeated assay, can determine whether all radioisotope containing material has been removed from
the operative site.
C-Trak probes are capable of measuring gamma
energies up to 364 keV, and are designed to detect
small sites of radioisotope uptake in the high scatter,
highly variable background environments found with
imaging radiolabels such as Indium 111 and
Technetium 99m. The C-Trak® Omniprobe PET can be
used to detect higher-energy radiolabels such as FDG,
with energies up to 600 keV.
Achieving this level of performance is possible
because of the probe's proprietary combination of
variable collimation and shielding, coupled to the
signal discrimination of the C-Trak analyzer.
Patented, snap-on collimators vary the probe's field
of view from wide (for surveying) to narrow (for
probe-guided resection), and can be matched to suit
tissue/background levels.
The use of the patented C-Trak® blocking plate, in
combination with the collimators, allows the surgeon
to reduce radiation from outside the selected field of
view.
The head of the compact 5" probe is angled at 30
degrees to facilitate surgical searches in tight
anatomical spaces such as the pelvis.
