TAKEDO® 3VF-NXP
Inverter for speed regulation of lift motors
TAKEDO® 3VF-NXP series is a new, revolutionary generation
of drive. Beside its well known reliability, this new inverter,
is provided with the following characteristics:
- Special software for lift application working for
geared or gearless lifts with both asynchronous or
permanent magnets synchronous motors;
- Possibility to operate as rescue device if supplied
with batteries 48/96/192 Vdc:
- Open loop operating and closed loop with push-pull, line
®
driver or Sin-Cos incremental encoder, absolute EnDat or
SSI and also tacho generator.
- Power unit separated from control unit;
- Integrated choke to increase the power of the drive and
the life of its components;
- Fan with 3 modes automatic stop;
- Standard Input voltage up to 500V, which decreases
sensitivity to the extra-voltages on the mains;
- Starting current 2 times the rated one for 2 seconds every
20, 10 seconds every 20 for NXP06 and NXP14 special sizes;
- Integrated brake chopper, and EMC filter for any size;
- Automatic calculation of the deceleration space in one
floor run;
- Direct floor arrival function (closed loop only);
- Brake opening control;
- Safety brake opening and closing control;
- Motor contactors opening and closing control;
- Operating temperature 50°C;
- Safety control of brake opening;
- Maximum switching frequency: 16kHz, without derating.

OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS
Separated parameters for open and closed loop operation;
Rescue operation if supplied by batteries: minimum voltage 48V/96V in the
most favourable run direction for asynchronous/synchronous motors and
96/192V for forced run with rated torque for asynchronous/synchronous
motors.
Application either on VVVF single polarity, 4 or 4/16 poles, ACVV,
permanent magnet synchronous motor types, geared or gearless.
Extremely easy to be installed, even on high speed lift (1 floor
run, with automatic control).
Precise stop at the floor level apart from stop switch position.
Direct arrival to floor function , without low speed coasting.

TAKEDO® 3VF-NXP
An application example
One of the many possible applications of Takedo® 3VF NXP is with a motor having an encoder mounted in an
unconventional way, that is not aligned on the motor shaft, as in the following picture.
Takedo® 3VF NXP can be used for this kind of application, in this case replacing the original tachogenerator
with an incremental encoder with REO444 type flange and with the same shaft measure, provided by SMS.
Once the ratio between the encoder roller pulley and the motor disc is approximately known, the start-up
procedure is quiet easy as for a standard PMSM machine. Some special features of the drive are available to
avoid the use of the car weight system, obtaining still a very good starting comfort.
SMS customers have several installations of this kind in operation for a number of years without any problems
and with the full satisfaction of the end user.

Open loop inverter for speed regulation of lift motors
TAKEDO® 3VF V20 is the new 100% “Made in Italy”
drive from SMS. Compact, silent and reliable, it differs
from other drives on the market for the following
features:

Extreme working temperature: 70°C at rated
current;
Built-in RS485 Modbus communication;
Built-in EMC Filter;
Self supporting keypad with 1m cable for easy
start-up operation (optional);
Front side status Led;
Built-in STO feature ( drive Safe Torque Off with 2
independent inputs ), compliant to the directive
EN 61800-5-2 ( SIL 2 )
( 1 motor contactor can be eliminated );
Lift dedicated software studied by SMS, that drives
and checks the safety brake on the low speed shaft

TAKEDO® ENERGY
Regenerative kit for inverter that recovers the braking energy
■
What is TAKEDO®- Energy?
It’s a kit made up of a special VVVF drive, mains
supply filters and metal box, for regenerating
the braking energy back into the line in the lift
systems equipped with VVVF drive.
■
How does it works?
When the motor is pulled by the load, it
generates energy: TAKEDO®- Energy takes this
energy and returns it to the AC line.
■

Where can it be installed?
It can be installed in any lift system equipped
with a VVVF drive.
Where does the energy go?
The energy returns to the AC line.
Of course the electricity meter doesn’t go back,
but the regenerated energy is used by the other
users connected to the same meter, such as car
light, lift control panel, motor brake, stairs light,
etc.

What benefits does it bring me?
It allows you to save money in the energy bill and, at
the same time, the heat in the machine room
decreases.
In fact, the braking resistor is by-passed and all the
dissipated heat turns into electrical energy to the AC
line.
■
How much can I save on the total consumption?
The saving depends on the lift system type, on the
lift system travel, speed and car load, etc.
Generally it is between 10% and 40%.
■
Does the regenerated energy meet the EMC
Standards?
The regenerated energy has got a low harmonics
content and it is in compliance with the current EN
12015 Standard.
■
Is TAKEDO®-Energy applicable to any lift system, for
example in the hydraulic lifts?
Of course you can.
It’s useful in all the systems where the motor is
driven by a VVVF and a braking device is needed,
such as for example inclined lifts, hydraulic lifts with
pump motor which works even in the down
direction, escalators and moving walks, etc.

How much time do I need to install it?
The kit is supplied with metal box and connection
cables (2 meters length) included.
You have to connect only 5 wires.
The kit can be mounted even in the shaft, it doesn’t
need any kind of setting.
Generally the installation takes no more than 1 hour.
■
What do I need to know in order to choose the
proper size of TAKEDO®- Energy?
Size must be chosen referring to the braking current.
In an existing lift, 50% balanced, command an up run
with empty car, check the voltage at the ends of the
braking resistor and, using the P=V2/R formula
(where R is the resistor Ohm value), you can
calculate the necessary minimum power.
HYDROVERT
The drive for hydraulic lifts
HYDROVERT represents a new generation of
frequency converters for hydraulic lifts. Beside its
good quality/price ratio, it is provided with the
following characteristics :
- Special software for hydraulic lifts;
- Elimination of the peak starting current;
- Energy saving;
- Current cosϕ correction : 0.95 from the mains;

HYDROBATT
Battery operating drive for hydraulic home lifts
HYDROBATT is the battery operating drive designed
and built entirely by SMS for operating hydraulic
home lifts.
It consists of a low voltage high efficiency motor for
the pump and of a metal box that contains the
inverter, motor contactors and battery chargers.
WHY INSTALL IT ?
■ SPECIFICATIONS
- Mains power supply : 230 Vac 50/60 Hz, max. power 300W
for battery charge.
- Battery supply : 4*12 Vdc, 26 Ah(min.).
- Inverter sizes : 60 A, 90 A, values at 50°C ambient.

- Average autonomy : 25 upward travels with 26Ah batteries
