Re: True Love - Boat Systems Management
It is imperative that you, as the charterer, understand the important information,
guidelines and crucial system operational procedures in the following Boat Manual
prepared specifically for True Love and if not followed correctly will result in significant
damage to that system which you the charter will be financially responsible for its repair
should the damage happen during your charter.
Please be sure you understand how these systems work, that they do work prior
to your charter and if you have any questions to be sure to request one of our fleet
operations personnel to meet with you at the boat to go over them.
Enjoy your sailing excursion and thank you for chartering from Aventura!
Sincerely,
James Jones

Notes
• Raw Water Strainer is located under the cabin sole below the companionway
steps.
• Be sure when checking for clogs that the thru-hull (located under the cabin sole
below the companionway steps. Labeled “Engine Pickup”) is closed. Remember
to open thru-hull when finished clearing strainer.

Sails
Jib
Roller furling fractional head sail. Use black speckled white line which runs along
the starboard side of deck for furling sail.
Remember to apply slight tension to furling line when opening head sail; ensure the
line wraps neatly around drum of furling system.
All Lines: Halyards, main sheet, roller furling take up, reef etc. lead aft towards
cockpit on both sides of the companionway.
Important: keep boat on a slight starboard tack to create some tension on the sail
for a tight furl.
IMPORTANT: Do not release the jib or mainsail halyards!
Unfurling Sail:
Main In-Mast
Furling System
Unlock “MAIN IN” on the port side. PULL the outhaul on the starboard side (using
winch with outhaul wrapped 4 times when necessary) WHILE RELEASING
TENSION BY PULLING THE ‘MAIN OUT’ ON THE PORT SIDE (has a continuous
line running through it). This may require one person pulling the outhaul while
another pulls the continuous ‘out’ line counter clock-wise to unroll the main. It may
require winching the outhaul if the sail was not tightly rolled previously. When the
draft of the foot of the sail (the amount of curve) is as flat as desired stop cranking
(you can readjust it later).
Have another crew member outside of the cockpit watch the sail coming out of the
mast and when the car on the out haul line reaches the black line stop unfurling.
Furling Sail:
To furl, one person keeps slight tension on the outhaul while another crew member
pulls the continuous ‘IN’ line clockwise (this requires releasing the ‘OUT’ clutch and
may require winching the ‘IN’ side of the continuous line). It is important to keep
tension on both sides of the continuous line so that it spins the winch on the mast.
Watch the sail entering the mast that there are no crinkles and stop furling right
before the blue clew of the sail enters the mast.
