Prevents back reflections along a transmission path in optical networks and components by allowing light to pass
in only one direction
The MPS-2000 Single Stage Optical Isolator is a singlemode, polarization-independent isolator that can be connected or spliced into an optical transmission system. Offered in a
Premium or Value grade, the MPS-2000 Single Stage Optical Isolators are used to prevent
back reflections along a transmission path in optical networks and components by allowing
light to pass in only one direction. Connectors and other optical components present in
an optical network can cause diverse back reflections. The back reflections are generated
from discontinuities between the optical interface of the connectors and components. Back
reflections are known to have a destabilizing effect on the laser source oscillation and the
operation of the optical fiber amplifiers, thus resulting in degraded system performance.
Optical isolators are indispensable devices for eliminating the adverse effects of back reflections in high-speed and analog optical networks and systems. The MPS-2000 Single Stage
Optical Isolator can be supplied with or without connectors and with bare fiber, 900μm
buffered, 2mm or 3mm jacketed fiber.

The MPS-2100 Singlemode In-line Optical Attenuator is a “fixed value” attenuator that is
integrated into a standard fiber optic jumper cable. The MPS-2100 utilizes Corning singlemode SMF-28 fiber and can be configured with various cable jacketing diameters. The InLine Attenuators are available in either single window or dual window configurations with
attenuation values up to 40 dB in 1 dB increments. The attenuators are available in fiber
diameters of 250 micron, 900 micron, 2mm or 3mm and come integrated into any length
jumper. It can be supplied with or without connectors, or as a pigtail version. In addition,
each terminated attenuator assembly meets Telcordia standards and is tested for insertion
and return loss.

The use of the MPS-2500 Singlemode Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA) is critical whenever
optical system loss budgets need to be varied to: compensate for wavelength dependant
losses, perform bit error rate (BER) testing and enhance optical receiver performance in the
presence of high power levels. The MPS-2500 VOA is an adjustable attenuator that offers
some great performance features over competing VOA’s. Specifically, the MPS-2500 does
not utilize any form of air-gap in the optical pathway. This ensures optimum system return
loss and attenuation vs. wavelength flatness. Our Variable Optical Attenuator offers multiwavelength capability to support WDM, CWDM and DWDM network applications with an
attenuation range up to 40 dB. The MPS-2500 is made exclusively with Corning fiber and
connectors for superior performance. In addition to the standard inset flathead screw, our
VOA has a thumbscrew that can be used to adjust attenuation. This makes adjusting the
attenuation in a tight spot nearly effortless and reduces the chance of damaging a surrounding component with a screwdriver.
The MPS-2500 Singlemode Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA) is available with 250 μm bare,
900 μm buffered or 3mm jacketed fiber leads and can be supplied with or without connectors. Every assembly meets Telcordia standards, is tested for insertion and return loss, and

The MPS-2700 Singlemode Wavelength Division Multiplexer (WDM) provides a cost effective solution, for increasing fiber optic network signal capacity by enabling the simultaneous transmission of two wavelengths over the same common fiber. That is, the MPS-2700
works in such a way as to MUX or DeMUX optical signals within the 1310 and 1550 nanometer windows.
The WDM utilizes a micro-optic filter based technology to provide high performance, excellent environmental and mechanical stability in a compact package. The MPS-2700 is available in two performance grades that offer either standard or high optical isolation between
the two wavelength channels. Refer to Page (2) for detailed specifications.
The MPS-2700 can be purchased in one of two optional packages. The package options
include either a small form factor cylindrical design for OEM applications or a heavy-duty
injection molded case for harsh environment or system level applications. The fiber pigtail
configurations include 250 μm, 900μm, 2mm or 3mm jacketed leads supplied with or without connectors.

The MPS-2800 Singlemode Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexer (CWDM) provides a
cost effective solution, for increasing fiber optic network signal capacity by enabling the
simultaneous transmission of up to eight wavelengths over the same common fiber. That
is, the MPS-2800 works in such a way as to MUX or DeMUX optical signals within the
CWDM band. The optical channel wavelengths cover the 1471 to 1611 nm range with 20
nm channel spacings.
The CWDM utilizes a micro-optic filter based technology to provide high performance, excellent environmental and mechanical stability in a compact package. Refer to Page (2) for

Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM)
combines up to 16 wavelengths onto a
single fiber. CWDM technology uses an
ITU standard 20nm spacing between the

Designed to enable bi-directional optical communications
between two Gigabit Ethernet transceivers
The MPS 4500 series of Singlemode/Multimode Hybrid Wavelength Division Multiplexers
(H-WDM) are three port devices designed to enable bi-directional optical communications
between two Gigabit Ethernet transceivers that are sharing a single strand of 62.5um multimode optical fiber cable. The 4500 series of multiplexers include both the AC series and
the TB series.
The MPS 4500/AC is engineered to provide the Mux/DeMux functions for transceivers that
transmit at the 1310 nm wavelength and receive at the 1550 nm wavelength. The AC 1310
nm transmit path integrates an Optical Mode Conditioner that optimizes the optical mode
field of the transmit singlemode fiber to the multimode fiber port of the H-WDM. The use of
mode field optimization minimizies the Bit Error Rate (BER) of the Gigabit Ethernet data as
it is transported over the multimode fiber cable. Refer to Page (2) for device details.
The MPS 4500 has several key features that set it apart from ordinary wavelength division
multiplexers that make them ideal for use in legacy multimode data communication systems that need to be upgraded to Gigabit Ethernet speeds. The key features of the MPS
4500 include:
