Sony Expands Its Range of 4K TVs With The New
BRAVIA X8500A Series
(Auckland, 5th September 2013) – Sony is expanding its range of BRAVIA 4K1
LED TVs that incorporates the same Sony technologies to deliver superior picture
quality with a redefined sound system for a richer and wider range of sound than
previously made possible. With four times the resolution of Full HD, the new
X8500A series will be a welcome addition to any homeowner looking for the
penultimate home entertainment experience.
The new BRAVIA X8500A series of 4K TVs feature the same display technologies
found in the X9000A series, resulting in outstanding picture quality with ultra-fine
4K detail and rich colours- the exception being the X8500A series adoption of
3,840x2,160 resolution
Active 3D technology.
Its 4K X-Reality Pro picture engine ensures that all
content, regardless of its source, is optimised for ultra-high definition viewing.
Using a special 4K database and processing algorithm, the BRAVIA X8500A is
able to upscale 2K content to near native 4K resolution, while reducing visual
noise and correcting image shapes. The 4K LED TV X8500A series, as well as
the 65-inch and 55-inch X9000A2 series, which are currently available, will gain
the ability to support HDMI Specification Version 2.0 to accommodate 4K/60p 3
content via an internet firmware upgrade from the end of 2013.
The TRILUMINOS Display allows for more stunning, more vivid, true-to-life
reproduction of colour on screen and creates a heightened sense of depth. This
wider colour gamut enriches and improves picture quality of personal content
captured using Sony digital cameras and camcorders that are compatible with
What makes the X8500A series of BRAVIA 4K TVs stand out is its integrated
bass reflex box speaker with tweeter and assist woofer that produces crystal clear
highs and deep bass. With three driver units, excellent picture quality is matched
by extremely powerful and moving sound for an immersive viewing experience.
When paired with a separate sound system like the HT-ST7 Sound Bar,
consumers will be able to enjoy master quality sound with deep and clean bass to
complement the X8500A viewing experience.
For users looking for ways to connect their devices to their TVs without the hassle
of connecting cables, the X8500A is Wi-Fi enabled, and comes with an array of
features to enhance cross-device connectivity between the TV and the users’
mobile devices. “Smart Connect” is a feature which pairs devices seamlessly to
the TV, while “One-touch mirroring” enables users to establish a wireless
connection with the TV simply by touching their NFC capable phone with the
supplied One-touch Remote Control. Furthermore, the “TV SideView” app will
allow users to use their smartphones or tablets as a second screen to extend their
enjoyment of the content showing on the TV.
Upgrading the 84” X9000 to the latest HDMI Specifications Version 2.0 will require service assistance. Sony
will begin offering a Service Upgrade Programme from the end of 2013.
