Maintenance
FUSE REPLACEMENT
If the fuse blows, check the power connection and replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again
after the replacement, there may be an internal malfunction. In this case, consult your nearest
repairing center.
Warning
Use the specified amperage fuse for each lead. Use of a higher amperage fuse may cause
serious damage.

PRECAUTIONS
• Choose the mounting location carefully so that the unit will not interfere with the normal
driving functions of the driver.
• Avoid installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, such as from direct
sunlight or hot air from the heater, or where it would be subject to dust, dirt or excessive
vibration.
• Use only the supplied mounting hardware for a safe and secure installation.
• Be sure to remove the front panel before installing the unit.
NOTE : Inclination angle for car radio installation must not exceed 30˚ otherwise the front
panel will not open.

4. PRESET STATIONS (1,2,3,4,5,6)
When pressed shortly, these keys select a preset station directly. When pressed longer than
1 sec., current station is stored in preset memory bank.
USING THE RDS FUNCTION
What is RDS?
The RDS (Radio Data System) is a digital information system developed by the EBU (European
Broadcast Union). Piggy-backed on normal FM broadcasts, RDS offers a variety of information
services and automatic retuning functions for RDS-compatible car stereos.
In 1988, RDS became available in the United Kingdom, France, West Germany, Ireland and
Sweden. Test transmissions are being conducted in many other European countries. It is expected
that RDS will be available in most western European countries in the near future.
5. ‘AF/REG’ function (ALTERNATIVE FREQUENCIES)
Press the AF button to turn ON/OFF alternative frequencies.
When AF/REG switching mode is selected, the radio checks the signal strength of the AF all
the time. When pressed long, it is activated as regional mode ON/OFF.
– Regional mode ON:
AF switching or PI SEEK is implemented to the station which have all PI codes same as
current station. REG segment is turned on, in LCD display.
– Regional mode OFF
The regional code in the format of PI code is ignored when AF switching or PI SEEK is
implemented.

‘TA’ function (TRAFFIC ANNOUNCEMENT)
Press the TA button to turn ON/OFF traffic announcements.
When TA mode is on and traffic announcement is transmitted.
– When the unit is in CD/MP3 mode, it will switch to radiomode temporarily.
– If the volume level was under the threshold point, it will be raised to the threshold point.
– When TP station is received, TP segment is turned on in LCD display.

‘PTY’ function (PROGRAM TYPE)
Press and hold the PTY button to turn ON/OFF Program type feature.
Turning VOL knob (right/left) to choose different Program Types.
Press PTY button again to start tuning to the selected program as below.

When this key is pressed, it is operated as the conversion of each display mode as follow.
1) In case of receiving RDS station.

2) In case of receiving NON RDS station

12.AUTO STORE AND PRESET SCAN (A/PS)
PS -By pressing shortly, the radio searches for each preset station. Each preset station will
be played for 5 sec.
AS -By pressing longer than 1 sec, the 6 strongest stations are stored in the corresponding
preset memory number. When Automatic Scan operation is finish, the radio executes
the preset scan.
13.SCAN TUNING / LOUDNESS (SCN/LD)
Press SCN to activate radio scan. The unit will search for every station and will play 5 seconds
of each station found. To cancel SCAN, press the button once more.
LOUDNESS: Press and hold LD button to turn LOUD feature ON/OFF.

20.INTRO BUTTON (Preview all Tracks)
Press ‘INT’ button to preview all tracks. The first 10 seconds of each track of the disc is
played in normal progression. To cancel INTRO, press the button once more.
21.RANDOM BUTTON
Press ‘RDM’ button to play tracks in random instead of normal progression. To cancel
RANDOM, press the button once more.

HOW TO SELECT MP3 FILES TO PLAY
a. Searching by Track
• Press AS/PS, then searching track is activated. First digit will blink.
• Press

to select the first digit.
• Press SEL button to confirm. Second digit will blink for selection.
• Repeat steps above for second and third digit.
• Press BD/ENT button to start playing.
b. Searching by Character
• Press AS/PS twice, then character search is activated. The first character will blink.
• Press
or
to select the first character.
• Press SEL button. Second character will blink for selection.
• Repeat steps above for second and third character.
• Press BD/ENT button to confirm.
• The song which has the same character selected will be displayed.
• Press

to select the song you want to play.

c. Searching by Folder
• Press AS/PS 3 times, then folder search is activated. The first folder will be displayed.

RECORDING OPERATIONS
The unit allows recording and stores it in the build in flash MP3 player.
CD MODE:
1. Select the desired track and play.
2. Press and hold REC• button. Choose between ‘NAND ONE TRACK’ or ‘NAND ALL TRACK’
recording by pressing REC• button.
NAND ONE TRACK – Records currently played track.
NAND ALL TRACK – Records all tracks in the CD.
3. Press BD/ENT button to start recording. ‘REC’ starts flashing on the display.
4. To exit recording, press the BD/ENT button.
MP3 MODE:
1. Select the desired track and play.
2. Press and hold REC• button. 3. Recording starts and the copy percentage shows in the display.
4. To exit recording, press the BD/ENT button.
FM MODE:
1. Select the desired station.
2. Press and hold REC• button.
3. ‘REC’ starts flashing on the display.
4. To exit recording, press the BD/ENT button.
VOICE RECORDING:
1. Press MOD repeatedly and choose “NAND”.
2. Press and hold REC• button, then voice recording will start.
3. To exit recording, press the BD/ENT button.
DELETING FILES:
You can delete the music in the flash mp3.
1. Press MOD repeatedly and choose “NAND”.
2. Using
/
button, select the file you want to delete.
3. Press SCN button to delete files.
4. Press BD/ENT button to confirm.
RESET
Reset button (24) is placed on the housing.
The reset button is to be activated for the following reason:
• Initial installation of the unit when all wiring is completed.
• All the function button do not operate.
• Error symbol on the display.

Installing Driver (for Windows 98 only)
You need to install the MP3 flash player driver for Windows 98 system before connecting it to the
computer. This unit includes a driver support disc for Windows 98. Open and follow the readme.txt
file on how to install the driver.
Charging Battery
This MP3 flash player comes with a built-in battery. You can charge by connecting it to the computer’s
USB port or by attaching it back to the head unit. Make sure to power on the head unit for it to charge.
While charging, battery indicator will scroll and will stop scrolling when it is full.
Charging time: 4 hours
Playback time: 3.5 hours
Connecting MP3 Player to Computer
IMPORTANT: Make sure to POWER ON the MP3 player before connecting the USB cable to the
computer.
FLASH MP3 OPERATIONS
The display module of the unit can be used as a standalone flash MP3 player.

To Remove the Flash MP3 Player
1. Turn off the power of the main unit first.
2. Press the
button to bring down the control panel.
3. Press the clip until a “click” sound is heard.
4. Carefully pull out the build-in flash MP3 player from the unit. PLAY OPERATIONS:
1. POWER ON/OFF
POWER ON - Press and hold 2 sec.
to turn on the unit. POWER OFF - Press and hold STOP over 4 seconds to turn off the unit.
2. START PLAYBACK
Press
button to start playing the track.
3. FAST TRACKING
While the track is being played, press and hold REW or FF for fast backward or fast-forward
play of the track.
4. SKIP / RETURN TRACKING
Press FF to skip forward to the next track. Press REW to skip backward to the beginning of
track. Press REW repeatedly to skip backward to previous track.
5. DIGITAL VOLUME CONTROL
To adjust the volume, press VOL+ to increase or VOL- to decrease the volume.
6. PAUSING PLAYBACK
While the track is being played, press
more to resume playback.

7. STOPPING PLAYBACK
Press STOP button to stop playback.
8. BROWSING FILES
Press and hold
button to browse files. Using VOL+ / VOL- to select folder name and press FF
to enter the selected folder. To play selected file, press FF. To exit, simply press STOP button. Note: RECORD folder is used by the system to store recording files. Please do not delete this folder.
Note: For steps 9-12, the unit’s setting needs to be in PLAY MODE. To activate PLAY MODE, simply
press MENU and choose ‘PLAY’. Press MENU once more to confirm.
9. EQUALIZER
a. In [PLAY MODE], press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘EQUALIZER’. Press MENU
again to enter.
b. Press FF/REW and choose between NORMAL/ROCK/JAZZ/CLASSICAL/POP. Press MENU
again to confirm.
10.PLAY MODE
a. In [PLAY MODE], press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘PLAY MODE’. Press MENU
again to enter.
b. Press FF/REW and choose between REPEAT FOLDER/REPEAT ALL/REPEAT TRACK/ INTRO/
NORMAL/SHUFFLE FOLDER/SHUFFLE ONCE/SHUFFLE REPEAT/TRACK ONCE.
c. Press MENU again to confirm.

11.GENERAL SETTINGS
a. In [PLAY MODE], press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘SETTING’. Press MENU
again to enter.
b. Press FF/REW and choose between the following:
CONTRAST – sets the contrast of the display.
BACKLIGHT – sets how many seconds the backlight will turn off
IDLE SHUTDOWN – sets how long the unit turns off automatically after being idle.
INFORMATION – displays used and available free memory FACTORY SETTING – sets the unit back to factory default settings.
FORMAT – formats the build-in flash memory.
ID3 LANGUAGE – sets the ID3 language for mp3 files. Select between East or West Europe.
c. Press MENU again to confirm.
12.PLAY SPEED SETTINGS
a. In [PLAY MODE], press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘PLAY SPEED’. Press
MENU again to enter.
b. Adjust the speed using FF/REW button. 100% is normal play.
c. Press MENU again to confirm.
FM OPERATIONS:
1.
ENTER FM RADIO MODE
a. Press MENU, With REW/FF button, press and select [FM RADIO]. b. Press MENU again to enter FM mode. Radio station’s frequency will be shown in the display. Note: The earphone is also the antenna of FM radio. Make sure that the earphone is connected
to the MP3 Player.
2. PRESET STATION
a. In [FM MODE], Press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘PRESET’. Press MENU
again to enter.
b. Press FF/REW turn ON/OFF preset stations.
c. Press MENU again to confirm.
3. AUTO SCANNING THE WHOLE FM BAND
a. In [FM RADIO], press and hold
over 2 seconds. b. First 20 FM station detected will be stored in the preset memory.

HOW TO SAVE DESIRED FM BAND IN MEMORY CHANNEL
a. Make sure to set the PRESET station to OFF to activate manual tuning.
b. In [FM MODE], press REW/FF to tune to desired stations.
c. Press
then REW/FF to choose the desired preset memory location. d. Press
again to store it to the PRESET memory.
5. STEREO/MONO
a. In [FM MODE], Press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘SOUND’. Press MENU again
to enter.
b. Press FF/REW and choose between STEREO/MONO selections.
c. Press MENU again to confirm.
VOICE AND AUDIO RECORDING
You can record by the built-in microphone or LINE-IN (3.5mm jack cable).
ENTER RECORD MODE
Press MENU, With REW/FF button, press and select [RECORD]. Press MENU once more to confirm.
1. Recording by MIC
Make sure unit is in STOP (standby) mode and no cable connected to LINE-IN. a. In [RECORD MODE], press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘RECORDING INPUT’.
Press MENU again to enter.
b. Press FF/REW and choose ‘VOICE’. Press MENU again to enter.
c. Press FF/REW and choose ‘VAD’. With FF/REW, choose ‘OFF’. Press MENU again to confirm.

d. With REW/FF button , select Exit to go back to Record Mode.
e. Press
to start recording and STOP to stop recording.
2. Recording by LINE-IN
Plug one end of a 3.5mm jack cable to the LINE-IN of the unit. Plug the other end to an external
audio source.
a. In [RECORD MODE], Press and hold MENU. With FF/REW, choose ‘RECORDING INPUT’.
Press MENU again to enter.
b. Press FF/REW and choose ‘LINE-IN’. Press MENU again to enter.
c. With REW/FF button , select Exit to go back to Record Mode.
d. Press
to start recording and STOP to stop recording.
3. RECORD QUALITY SETTINGS
a. In [RECORD MODE], press and hold MENU. Choose ‘RECORDING MODE’. Press MENU
again to enter.
b. With REW/FF button , select the different KBPS settings. Press MENU to confirm.
4. VAD SETTINGS
VAD is setting the sensitivity of the microphone. When recording from mic, it is recommended
to set it to ‘OFF’.
a. In [RECORD MODE], press and hold MENU. Choose ‘VAD’. Press MENU again to enter.
b. With REW/FF button , select between ‘OFF’, ‘LOW’, or ‘HIGH’.
OFF – starts recording immediately without detecting voice level.
LOW – only start recording if the voice is a little bit above normal.
HIGH – only start recording if the voice is very loud.
c. Press MENU to confirm.
5. AUTO SYNC SETTINGS
AUTO SYNC makes synchronization recording with the LINE-IN recording device.
a. In [RECORD MODE], press and hold MENU. Choose ‘AUTO SYNC’. Press MENU again
to enter.
b. With REW/FF button , select between ‘OFF’, ‘1,2,3,4 sec.’
OFF – starts LINE-IN recording immediately.
1 sec – adds 1 sec to file before and after recording.
2 sec – adds 2 sec to file before and after recording.
3 sec – adds 3 sec to file before and after recording.
4 sec – adds 4 sec to file before and after recording.
c. Press MENU to confirm.
