TURNING IDEAS INTO PRODUCTS |
The aim is to reproduce music and speech perfectly via the compa
ny's own technologies. Prefabricated standard components are inadequate to fully experience music as it was intended at the very highest quality level. This is why Magnat develops its own components,
such as subwoofers, tweeters and other critical items 'in house'.
These are then used exclusively in products bearing the Magnat
brand name.
Advanced technologies like the midrange woofer of the new controlled flexing cone profile, the with ceramic particles hand-coated
Large-Roll-Dome tweeter or the excellent Quantum terminal represent
real progress in loudspeaker engineering while reflecting Magnat's
exclusivity. The decades of experience at Magnat and our desire to
constantly create new and better products helps guarantee the perfect symbiosis of all components.
Product development begins with the idea. It results from inspiration
and experience. The inspiration draws its force from emotional experiences like an incomparable concert evening. The experience
enables the inspiration to be translated into a specific project. At the
beginning of each project, sketches and shapes emerge, together
with thoughts about the combination of components and materials.
The skill of our development engineers helps define a large number
of important parameters even before the first simulations, allowing
the idea to evolve and become clearer. A rough outline materialises
and the laboratory comes closer to building the initial model. The
design of a loudspeaker has to obey the laws of physics. The method
must be a scientific one. The laboratory equipment is by necessity
'state of the art'.
THE CORRECT LABORATORY EQUIPMENT |
Magnat makes extensive use of some highly sophisticated measuring technology and simulation software in its design and development process. For example, the laser-assisted Klippel system allows
measurements to be taken under dynamic conditions for the first
time. The parameters of a loudspeaker cannot be determined with a
low level signal alone but rather with variable pulses simulating real
music and speech sounds. In addition to the substantial increase in
precision, assessments, verifiable by metrology, can now be made
with regard to how a loudspeaker will behave in real operation with
music signals.
LISTENING TO THE PROTOTYPES |
FEM-Magnetfield- Analysis
Loudspeakers must be listened to. Carefully. All of our prototypes are
subjected to intensive listening tests before the design work is con
cluded and approved for production. These tests are carried out using
a variety of systems ranging from entry level to reference-class pro
ducts, in rooms of differing sizes, and varying acoustic properties.
Magnat's reference audio room is an essential tool used in the deve
lopment of all its components - be they electronic or complete loud
speaker systems. Acousticians from "W Vier" helped optimize this
room, which shows how strict Magnat is in the standards that it
applies to all its products. This desire to achieve the highest possi
ble is apparent in each and every component. The reference room is
where the final decision is taken regarding whether products will be
awarded the "Magnat" label, whether further adjustments are neces
sary required or even whether the project has to be shelved.

'Naturalness' and 'musicality' are attributes that are frequently used to describe the sound of a
tube amplifier. Among music enthusiasts, high quality tube amplifiers enjoy the reputation of being
the ultimate with regard to sound reproduction. However, there can be huge differences between
tube amplifiers in terms of design, complexity and the results they deliver. Many modern designs
have been predominantly developed under the maxim of keeping the price low while offering the
greatest visual impact. It has resulted in a surplus of tacky chrome and shiny gold tube 'temples'
with poor reliability and usually very disappointing sound quality.
Magnat's RV 2 amplifier has been developed by a German-English team and is conceived after the
classic tube amplifiers from the 50s and 60s. The team's objective was to achieve the best possible sound quality, combining a high degree of reliability and compatibility with modern speakers.
The basis in achieving these goals is perfect mechanical integrity. Vibration that might be detrimental to the sound was to be excluded from the outset. The chassis of the RV 2 was therefore
manufactured from solid sheet steel with aluminium reinforcement within. Internally, the four main
sections namely the input stage, power supply, output stage and tube preamplifier, are separated
by shielding plates. This elaborate design and the inclusion of substantial transformers accounts
for the majority of the total weight, which is in excess of 23 kg. This extremely robust structure
provides a perfect foundation on which to build an electronic circuit.
The signal path follows the "weak-on-strong" principle, i.e. the weakest signal (phono) is amplified
immediately after the input. The phono preamplifier was designed and developed by German analogue specialist Walter Fuchs. Both moving coil and moving magnet pickups can be connected.
Extreme accuracy is achieved through the use of very low noise operational amplifiers and tightly
toleranced passive components. The signal passes via the input switching circuit to the volume
control and preamplifier/driver stage. The power amplifications stage then boosts this to a level
appropriate for loudspeakers. The power transformer is positioned centrally to ensure close coupling between power supply and the output stage.
The preamplifier circuit is designed according to the SRPP (Shunt Regulated Push Pull) principle.
This circuit, favoured by numerous Japanese and French preamplifier specialists, is renowned for
its high linearity and extremely low distortion. The tube types used are selected Russian
12AX7/ECC83 models. These tubes have an outstanding reputation with regard to reliability and
sound quality. A high quality ALPS potentiometer is used for volume control.
Specifications see page 8 1
The power amplifier is a push-pull class AB circuit with an output of 50 ws into 4 or 8 П. This configuration demonstrates that the quality
of the sound is of greater importance than a nominally higher wage rating. The circuit, implemented with Russian manufactured 6550 tubes,
combines reliability, tremendous clarity and a high degree of compatibility in terms of speaker selection. The type 6550 output pentode so
highly valued by European and American experts, is famous for its dynamic and authoritative sound. The driver stage comprises the powerful
12AU7/ ECC82 tubes. All tube stages are constructed on a very stable epoxy resin board. Of course, all of the tubes are pre-selected for
lowest noise. Prior to final assembly of the RV 2 amplifier, all pre-amp, driver and power tubes are subjected to a 60-hour burn-in test.
Defective tubes or those not complying with our stringent quality specifications are identified and rejected. Tube experts all agree that the
quality of the output transformers is of significant importance for playback quality. Many low-budget tube amplifiers use output transformers
with cheap toroidal cores. These are not used in legendary classic tube amplifiers or modern high end designs due to the negative effects
on the sound.
The output transformers are custom wound for use with this particular configuration of 6550 tubes. El-cores manufactured from the highest
quality, grain oriented laminations are used. The power and output transformers are subjected to a complex vacuum impregnation process
before being potted in vibration-resistant, airtight housings.
Even the best circuits can only display their true strengths with an exquisite power supply. All of the circuits in the RV2 unit are supplied
with separately stabilised supply voltages. This produces an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio and enhances long-term stability. In addition
to the mechanical design and electronic circuitry, a great deal of attention has also been paid to a variety of details in the RV 2 unit. The
substantial speaker terminals are gold-plated and encapsulated in acrylic. All critical audio components are manufactured to exacting tole
rances with only high-quality film capacitors and metal film resistors used.
The tube bases also play an important role. The power amplifier is equipped with extremely durable and temperature-resistant ceramic sokkets. Elsewhere, sockets with precision-milled, gold-plated contacts are used for all of the other tubes. This prevents contact problems even
after numerous hours of operation. The unit is supplied with a reassuringly solid, full metal remote control. It enables the volume to be adju
sted easily and conveniently from the listening position. All of the controls and switches are also milled from solid aluminium.
The development, materials and attention to detail that have gone into the RV 2 are not geared towards short-term gimmickry. They enable
the connoisseur to enjoy numerous hours of deeply rewarding immersion in perhaps the most beautiful medium known to mankind: Music.

Tube Super-Audio-CD-player
The development of separate audio components allows our design team to focus on achieving the
best possible sound quality free of the constraints of size and issues of internal interference. The
products can be conceived and realised without unnecessary compromises. This is apparent in
the Magnat 800 Series. Both units, a full stereo amplifier and a Super Audio CD player, were desi
gned and developed in Germany by an experienced team. The central approach was first to focus
purely on the quality of sound and then on flexibility of use. It was achieved through a process of
carefully considered design and well implemented manufacturing techniques which incorporate
the use of premium quality materials and components. The two units possess a robust mechani
cal design with low-resonance properties. Tubes (vacuum tubes) are employed in all areas that are
particularly critical to sound quality.
The MA 800 is a full amplifier with separate MC and MM phono inputs, a dual mono, tube pre
amplifier coupled to a power amplifiers using discrete transistor circuitry. Input selection is achie
ved via high-precision encapsulated relays with the switching being located directly behind the
gold-plated RCA input sockets. The sophisticated phono stage was designed by analogue specia
list, Walter Fuchs. Two separate inputs are available for the phono stage, one for the 'moving
magnet' (MM) pick-up and one for the 'moving coil' pick-up (MC). This means that two different
cartridges may be connected simultaneously and selected using the remote control. Audiophile
low-noise operational amplifiers and closely toleranced passive components have been used in
the design of this phono stage. The separate power supply is fitted next to the phono stage. This
extraordinarily sophisticated design is characterised by excellent channel separation and very high
signal-to-noise ratio. The selected input source is displayed on the front mounted dot matrix dis
play, which may be switched off entirely or whose luminance may be adjusted to three levels of
intensity.
The heart of the MA 800 is the tube operated line stage that amplifies the selected input signal.
An ECC82 (12AU7) is used for each channel. These tubes are manufactured in Russia and are
burnt-in for 60 hours and then selected in pairs before use. The double triode uses an SRPP-type
circuit and thus delivers extremely linear results with vanishing small levels of distortion. The
power is supplied through a separate power supply.
The generously dimensioned output stage delivers the required power. It is configure using discre
te circuitry and incorporates high-performance power transistors from Japan. A total of 110 ws
continuous output is available to each channel, while up to 400 ws is available for short bursts
of power. Thanks to the high damping factor, difficult low impedance loudspeakers may be used
without difficulty. A sophisticated protective circuit will, in extreme cases, prevent damage to
amplifiers and loudspeakers.
Specifications see page 8 1
Magnat MA 800 & MCD 850
Twin power supplies, which separately feed the left and right output channels, also contribute to the amplifier's excellent channel separation and each of the 6 power supplies within the MA800 derives its stability from the massive toroidal transformer whose design also minimises the possibility of interference from stray fields. Despite the MA800's considerable specification it is not an old fashioned, power hungry, device. It has a stand by mode which, thanks to a special power-saving circuit, allows it to only consume a single w when not in use.
The volume is controlled by a solid aluminium knob that is coupled to a high-precision ALPS motor-driven potentiometer. As a result, adjustments to the listening level may also be made with the elegant, aolid metal remote control handset. The large loudspeaker connectors are
gold plated to ensure a good quality connection over time and are encapsulated in acrylic insulation. They allow very secure connections to
be made even when attaching very heavy gauge loudspeaker cable. Two pairs of connectors are provided for each channel so that bi-wiring
is easily possible.
The MCD 850 is a CD player with Super Audio CD mechanism, a tube output stage and a sophisticated power supply. The appearance of
the MCD 850 SACD player has been chosen to compliment that of the MA 800 and so it also features the finest mechanical and electronic components. The outward appearance impresses with its clean and elegant front panel. The controls, the display and the CD/SACD drawer have been arranged in such a way as to create a highly sophisticated appearance while simultaneously allowing simple & intuitive operation. The 16-digit alpha-numeric display provides users with all the information they might require. As with the MA 800, its luminance may
be adjusted in three levels or the display may be switched off entirely.
The technical design is based focuses completely on the need for maximum performance. The entire audio section, including the power supply, has been fitted on a single circuit board. The mechanism and micro-controller's power supply has been fitted on a second separate circuit board. This prevents the sensitive digital to analogue converters and subsequent amplification stages from suffering any adverse
effects.
A precision mechanism with Sanyo laser unit has been employed as the drive. It is additionally screened from external interference by a
metal cover. The smooth-running and vibration immunity of this mechanism are truly excellent. The data stream generated is transformed
into an analogue signal by the latest generation Burr Brown D/A converter which retains the full dynamic potential of SACD. The dual mono
filter stage is fitted with exceptionally low noise operational amplifiers and thus guarantees a wide and linear frequency range far in excess
of 40 kHz.
The sonic highlight of this unusual SACD player is the tube output stage. A selected low-noise CC88 double triode has been employed in
each channel. This circuit guarantees exceptionally linear and low-distortion signal transmission. As with all Magnat tube systems, the
MCD 850 only uses burnt-in and selected tubes manufactured in Russia. These are coupled to the outside world via two high-quality, goldplated, RCA sockets. The audio signal for the separate headphone amplifier is taken before it reaches the tube stage. The volume may be
easily adjusted with the remote control while the output level at the RCA sockets remains unchanged. Two digital outputs (optical and coaxial) are available for digital storage media. The two separate power supplies are fed by an R-core transformer with good regulation and minimal radiated stray fields. The MA 850 also has a stand-by facility to save energy when not in use.
An elegant remote control is supplied with the two systems so that all functions on the MA 800 and MCD 850 may be readily controlled
from the listening position. It has been made from aluminium and is characterized by its ease of use. This remote control may also be used
to adjust the volume and mute functions on the Magnat RV1 tube-operated full amplifier.
Intuitive operation, a precise design utilising the finest materials and performance to satisfy any audiophile characterize both components
and guarantee the ultimate listening pleasure.
The dot matrix display may be deactivated or set at one of three levels of
brightness. The knobs on the front of
the MA 800 have been machined from
solid aluminium and fitted with highly
precise motor-driven potentiometers

installation: MA400's preamplifier tube
3 | Everything to hand: The full function
remote control
4 | Solid aluminium front panel used
by all 400 series
MA 400 - Stereo amplifier with tube preamplifier
MCD 450 - CD-player
MT 420 - FM/AM tuner
The Magnat 400 series components have had the benefit of the experience gained during the evo
lution of the 800 series models. Like their more expensive counterparts, all three units have been
designed and developed in Germany. Throughout the process, sound quality was given top priori
ty. As in all of Magnat's electronic components, significant emphasis was placed on a solid
mechanical configuration coupled with good ergonomic design.
The MA 400 is an integrated amplifier incorporating a tube preamplifier, a power amplifier with
special audio 1С and a phono input for moving magnet pickup systems.
The phono preamplifier has been implemented with very low noise operational amplifiers. Through
the use of carefully selected precision components the circuit follows the RIAA equalisation curve
to within 0.3 dB across the full frequency range. It also features a carefully implemented
18dB/octave sub-sonic filter operating below 16Hz to minimise unwanted noise such as that from
warps or vinyl ripple.
Specifications see page 8 1
A key factor in the overall sound quality is the ECC88 tube used in the preamplifier. This double
triode is selected prior to assembly and burned-in for 60 hours. At the heart of the power ampli
fier lies the integrated audio amplifier LM4780TA from the Performance Series of American semi
conductor specialist National Semiconductor. This high-tech chip is characterised by high band
width and an excellent slew rate of 20V/usec. The amplifier is short-circuit proof and a thermal
overload protection device ensures safe operation.
Sound quality and stability were given higher priority in the selection of this device than high
"paper specifications". Delivering 40 ws of continuous power per channel and with a short-term
provision of more than 150 ws of total power the LM4780TA's high damping factor ensures trou
ble-free control of even the most demanding speakers. However, the key to exceptional sound qua
lity and dynamic performance is not simply a high specification output device, but in the quality of
the power supply that feeds it. A highly efficient, custom designed toroidal transformer is used in
the MA 400, which is unusual in this price range. Elaborate and separately stabilised supply rails
as well as generously dimensioned buffer capacitors (2x 10,000uF for the power amplifier) ensu
re unfettered dynamics, low noise levels and outstanding channel separation for the individual
amplifier sections.
Magnat MUSIC SYSTEM 400
The MA 400 features a convenient and energy-saving standby function with a power consumption of less than one w and a full-function remo
te control which also controls various other models in the M400 series. The substantial speaker terminals are gold-plated and encapsula
ted in acrylic. These also guarantee a secure connection of larger speaker cables.
Special attention was focused on two aspects of the CD player MCD 450: The drive mechanism and the digital/analogue converter. A CD
transport with Sanyo optics has been used to ensure reliable operation and accurate retrieval of the data stream. The mechanism has a
metal cover to shield it from external interference.
The crucial digital data is then converted by the high-quality PCM 1796 24-bit digital to analogue converter from Burr Brown. This device is
characterised by a very high dynamic range and vanishingly small levels of distortion.
The dual mono analogue filters and the output buffers are equipped v/ith low-noise operational amplifiers and are operated from individual
fully regulated supply voltages.
All of the important circuits (i.e. power supply unit, decoder, digital/analogue converter and analogue output stages) are accommodated on
a computer optimised circuit board. This ensures a high degree of operational reliability and an excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
The unit can be operated either through its carefully arranged front panel or via the full-function remote control. These can also be used to
select special features, such as the repeat and free track programming functions. A clear alphanumeric display provides access to all of the
relevant information. The MCD 450 is also equipped with a standby function to ensure minimal power consumption when not in use
The MT 420 tuner is a classic FM/AM RDS tuner for ultra-short and medium wave frequencies. The tuner has been designed according to
the superheterodyne principle and combines excellent reception properties with a high degree of selectivity and low distortion values. The
elaborate audio output stage is equipped with low-noise operational amplifiers. The same board also accommodates the power supply unit,
which ensures multiple stabilised supply voltages are available for the individual circuits.
All of the key functions, such as station tuning, automatic scanning, stereo/mono switching and the retrieval of stored stations can be acces
sed via controls on the front panel. The clear display always indicates all of the important information. These functions can also be acces
sed via the remote control. Up to 40 stations can be stored, radio frequencies can be selected directly, and all RDS modes (such as PTY,
radio text and time) can be easily summoned.
Common features exhibited by all units include the high mechanical integrity of the design, the substantial solid aluminium front panels with
metal buttons & switches, simple intuitive operation and above all, the focus of this range; Optimum sound quality.

MC 1 - Stereo-SACD-Receiver with tube pre-amp
Many music-lovers are looking for a compact and multifunctional music system. They dislike
conventional hi-fi systems made up of separate components because of the space they require
or their intrusive aesthetic appearance. However, the more 'home friendly' midis and minis
available on the market along with a large number of „design-oriented" solutions are not given
serious consideration by serious hi-fi enthusiasts because of their poor performance.
Magnat's Music Center 1 combines for the first time, the advantages of high-grade separate
components in one compact unit. The MC 1 comprises a tube pre-amplifier, a high-performance
transistor power amp, a Super Audio CD player and an FM/AM tuner of the highest quality all
within a single enclosure.
The constructional quality of the MC 1 is evident at first glance from the milled, 8 mm thick aluminium front panel. The switch and control knobs are also machined from solid aluminium.
Such attention to detail is also reflected inside the unit. All the signal paths are located on one
elegant, geometrically optimised circuit board. The amplifier actually consists of two separate
components. An ECC 88 double triode tube is at work in the pre-amplifier, which greatly influences the sound. This classic tube type guarantees particularly transparent and three-dimensional music reproduction.
The tubes used in the MC-1 are hand-selected and undergo a 60-hour soak test before final
assembly. The tube also amplifies the signal from the built-in phono pre-amplifier. Many musiclovers all over the world still prefer the sound of an analogue record to all other storage media.
In order to reproduce all the finer qualities of vinyl records, the phono amp is of discrete design
but does incorporate selected, low-noise operating amplifiers.
To be able to supply demanding high-performance loudspeakers with a perfect signal and drive
them with authority, the power amp is equipped with transistors from the Japanese component
specialist, Sanken. They produce a dynamic output of 160 ws, which also offers plenty of
reserve for high levels to be reproduced without strain.
Specifications see page 82
The power supply used is also of great relevance for the sound: The MC 1 has a carefully dimensioned supply featuring a generously
specified toroidal transformer. In addition to its high efficiency, the minimised stray field is also an important feature of this design. The
transformer is cushioned within the enclosure which affords it a high level of mechanical isolation. The quality of this unique
tube/transistor amplifier is easily a match for high-quality individual components.
The inbuilt CD player can also reproduce Super Audio CDs perfectly. The Super Audio CD increases the treble range and a dynamic range
of over 120 dB. The special linear-type Burr Brown digital-to-analogue converter guarantees optimum sound quality of both Super Audio
and conventional audio discs. A drive mechanism from the Japanese manufacturer, Sanyo Industries, has been used in order to provide
a more stable platform for the disc. This precision mechanism outperforms the more commonly found, low cost drives by virtue of its
greater stability and mechanical integrity.
The tuner is designed according to the „super heterodyne" principle, combining high tuning precision with the acoustic advantages of a
particularly low level of distortion. The tuner of the MC 1 also features RDS capability and a sizeable memory of up to 80 stations.
Automatic search tuning is another obvious function as is the option of manual frequency selection.
Despite its technical sophistication and exceptional performance, the MC 1 is very easy to use. An easily readable VFD display gives
information about the unit's most important functions, including the clock and sleep-timer. All the unit's functions may be controlled on
the unit itself or via the clearly laid-out, metal remote control. To emphasise the audiophile nature of the unit, the MC 1 has Direct Sound
Mode (DSM).
When this is activated, the tone control network is de-activated and by-passed. However, the bass and treble controls can be switched
in where the speaker placement, room acoustics or even the recording being played requires it.
The build quality of the MC 1 is also clearly evident in relation to the inputs and outputs. All of the sockets are gold-plated, for example. The loudspeaker terminals are also very substantial gold plated items clad in transparent acrylic insulation.
Now, the committed music-lover only needs one unit: the MC 1 - and of course, two high-quality loudspeakers.
1 | The MC 1 has all the important
connection points. Particularly
important in this respect are the
loudspeaker outputs which, apart
from their generous size, are also
gold-plated and encapsulated
2 | The high-quality and clear visual
Impression is also reflected inside the
MC 1. All the signal paths are located
on one single tidy and geometrically
optimised board

MC 2 S - Stereo-CD-Receiver-Set with tube pre-amp
and bookshelf speakers
The MC 2 S from Magnat is a complete but compact stereo system with serious audiophile credentials. The intention was always to match the sound quality of separate hifi components. This involved taking a significant number of critical design & constructional decisions. Overriding these was a need to allow the various solutions chosen to
work together to give a satisfactory acoustic balance. The MC 2 S comprises an integrated amplifier, CD player with USB input and an FM/AM tuner. This substantially built
component has a solid aluminium front and lacquered wooden side panels.
The amplifier is of a hybrid design. A selected and "burned in" ECC 88 double triode
tube operates in the pre-amplifier. This is responsible for the stress-free and musical
sound characteristic. It acts as further proof of why so many music lovers still prefer
the sound generated by tubes. The main amplifier uses high-performance ICs from
Thomson that have been specially developed for audio applications. This "wide voltage/high current" type is characterised by its tolerance of the varying and frequency
dependent loads imposed by typical loudspeakers.
At the heart of any good amplifier is the power supply and the MC 2 S features a generously specified and highly efficient toroidal transformer. The integrated CD player
is equipped with a tried and tested laser pick-up from the Japanese manufacturer
Sanyo and is able to play MP 3 files. The MC 2 S's Superhet tuner with its RDS/radio
text function has the capacity to store 40 stations in its memory. The station search
function can be operated manually or automatically.
The functions of the MC 2 S can be monitored on the easy-to-read display. These
functins can either be controlled on the device itself or via the supplied remote control.
The MC 2 S can be adapted to various room acoustic conditions through the use of
variable sound settings. The unit is equipped with several additional inputs, including
USB and RCA sockets to enable the simple connection of modern portable devices.
Specifications see page 82
Magnat ftfC 2 S
The supplied speakers are connected via hefty terminals which can accommodate heavy gauge cables. These are a 2-way
design that utilise bass reflex loading. A particularly sophisticated bass-midrange driver with a lightweight,со ated paper cone
with high self damping properties operates in a fibre-reinforced, non-magnetic ABS chassis. The high-performance voice coils
are also air-cooled. The 25 mm fabric dome tweeter is driven by a highly efficient neodymium magnet. The El-MDF cabinet
has been reinforced through the use of solid, highgloss side panels. The speaker system has been developed with the aid
of the Klippel® laser measuring system.
In order to fill large rooms with sound the MC 2 S is also equipped with an additional subwoofer output which can be used
to connect active subwoofers of all sizes.

The Quantum label is only awarded to such loudspeakers that absolutely satisfy the highest
demands of the engineers at Magnat. The legendary Quantum 900 series and its radical drive unit
developments has already set new performance standards.
The Quantum 1000 series is preparing to push those reference points even higher. Almost all of
the component parts have been completely re-designed using methods based on the latest tech
nological developments. For instance, absolutely state-of-the-art diaphragms have been developed
for the mid-range and woofer speaker units. Primarily "controlled flexing cones", formed from alu
minium, have been used in the mid-range speakers. This radical new cone geometry permits the
controlled projection of wave fronts in the frequency band relevant to mid-range speakers and with
it comes the ability to handle a greater bandwidth. However, for the woofers, the engineers came
up with a flatter cone profile that improves the all round dispersion allowing a better, more seam
less marriage to the mid drivers. The modified dust cap also confers additional stability. The
magnetic circuits on both drivers have been further optimised with regard to the stray fields gene
rated. Twin induction rings also allow the voice coil to move more symmetrically. This gives a clea
rer sound and reduces distortion to levels that are almost immeasurable. A more effective increa
sed force has also been achieved thus enhancing efficiency.
The die-cast aluminium chassis is anti-magnetic and features extensive ventilation openings to
minimise turbulence and compression effects around the moving diaphragm. Solid metal rings
hold the loudspeaker chassis in position. Up to eight screws have been used to secure these drive
units rigidly to the baffle.Magnat's engineers chose a 25 millimetre "F-Max Signature" dome for
the high frequency range and elected to coat the fine fabric with ceramic particles. The tweeter
possesses a particularly wide surround that ensures improved dispersion well beyond 20KHz. A
copper cap in the magnet system reduces distortion while extensive ventilation allows the neces
sary cooling. The dome is also double ventilated at the front to prevent voice-coil symmetry from
being negatively impacted when playing at high levels. The dome itself is secured by a solid alu
minium front panel guaranteeing optimum coupling to the front baffle and minimising the potenti
al for unwanted resonance. Crossover filters constitute the heart of loudspeakers and have a pro
found effect on their sound. For this reason only the very finest components have been employed
to produce the Quantum 1000 series. The crossover filters with their transformer core coils and
audiophile polypropylene capacitors built to 24dB LKR topology standards are assembled on two
separate circuit boards with the aim of allowing optimum performance of the drivers when they are
used in bi-wired applications.
Both circuit boards are also mechanically insulated from the cabinet structure and fitted in sepa
rate chambers in the loudspeaker bases. From there the signal is distributed to the respective
drivers via sophisticated Oehlbach interior cabling.

4 | The chassis units' solid design is
apparent when they're dismantled.
The aluminium die-cast baskets for
the woofer and mid-range speakers are

The speakers' connection terminals also reflect this attention to detail, being gold plated to
ensure a good quality connection over time and encapsulated in acrylic insulation. They allow
very secure connections to be made even when attaching very heavy gauge loudspeaker cable.
Every aspect of the Quantum 1000 series has been considered. The double-sectioned side reinforcements with varying material thickness have been designed to reduce vibrations in the cabinet. Additional bracing supports the chassis units and minimizes reflections. Even the tweeter
has been housed in its own separate enclosure.
This reference series consists of four different loudspeakers. The two larger floor-standing speakers are configured as a 3-way and 2-way system with double bass. They are complimented by
a 2-way compact box and a centre speaker also designed as a 2-way system with double bass.
Even the world's best sound needs to be usefully and attractively packaged. As such, the
Quantum 1000 loudspeakers in their high-gloss varnish black or white finishes with real wood
side panels constitute a design highlight in their own right!

series has been used as a basis for the Quantum 800 series. It has allowed the creation of a range of
speakers that provide a perfect combination of neutrality and immediacy. The requirement was to create a
speaker series that satisfies the highest audio requirements while simultaneously being particularly elegant
as furniture.
A ceramic/aluminium cone has been employed in the woofer and bass-midrange speakers. Despite its low
mass, this material it is extremely stiff while still possessing high intrinsic damping properties. The cones
operate as pure pistons in the bass range while becoming a bending wave transducer at mid frequencies.
This ensures that a seamless transition to the tweeter is achieved. The cone is supported in an airflowoptimised die-cast aluminium chassis that also incorporates ventilation for cooling of the voice coil.
This chassis material is structurally inert and non-magnetic, which contributes towards the speaker's
efficiency. The driver was developed using FEM (finite element method) technology and operates with
enhanced linearity and symmetry. This not only results in extremely low distortion but also improves fine
resolution and the sense of space the speakers are able to recreate. All of the drive units possess highly
durable voice coils.
The "F-Max Signature" tweeter features a low-mass, hand-coated glass fibre/fabric dome. The 25 mm mem
brane has a very wide surround which optimises dispersion properties at the highest frequencies. The mag
net core is ventilated via a coupled and microfibre damped chamber. The tweeter faceplate has been
designed as a flat horn to produce uniform dispersion properties in the transition to the midrange. An addi
tional advantage provided by the tweeter's tightly controlled dispersion properties is in the reduction of inter
ference from edge reflections.

The true audio enthusiast seeks loudspeakers that will deliver a wide and even fre
quency response with excellent dispersion. Speakers that can reproduce the full
dynamic range of music with lightning fast transients. Speakers that will replay all types
of music and which will look visually appealing. To achieve these ideals, an enormous
investment in research and development is required along with technical knowledge,
broad experience and a love of good sound. The Quantum 750 series meets this chal
lenge head on.
Starting from the premise that only the cones of a speaker should move, and therefore
cabinet resonances are to be kept to a minimum, massive, double layered MDF front
panels of 45 and 40 mm in thickness have been realized with the new Quantum 750
series. Such extreme measures are highly unusual anywhere amongst speaker manu
facturers worldwide and, in conjunction with the extensive bracing deployed within the
cabinet, provides the optimum foundation for the speaker drivers used which are
geared towards the Quantum 1000 and 800 class in their design and quality. All speak
er chassis of the low and midrange drivers have been manufactured in non-magnetic
and torsionally rigid die-cast aluminum. The aluminium and ceramic low-midrange
cones guarantee pulse fidelity and clean bass response. The motive force is provided
by a double magnet system which exerts close control over precision wound voice coils
bonded to formers made from heat resistant material. The woofers work in an enclo
sure vented by Airflex bass reflex ports with their radiused apertures. These significant
ly reduce noise & turbulence compared to the conventional bass reflex tubes found
elsewhere.
A new high-efficiency F-Max tweeter with double magnet system and dual compound
fabric dome has been developed for high frequencies. To achieve a particularly smooth
transition to the midrange, the tweeters have also been equipped with a dampened
pole piece vent, i.e. its own small rear enclosure. To further enhance its dispersion
properties, the Alu/ABS tweeter faceplate also has a unique custom designed profile.
Both phase- and amplitude-optimised crossovers incorporate the highest quality com
ponents and couple to the drivers via internal wiring made of high-purity copper.
Substantial encapsulated binding posts allow the connection of even the heaviest
gauge speaker cables ensuring proper & secure contact between amplifier and speak
er. Bi-amping and bi-wiring are also possible. The speakers are configured with exten
sive internal bracing to minimize panel resonance and the floor-standing designs
include the provision to be mounted on metal spikes to guarantee secure location on
softer surfaces.

To complete a home cinema system, the 750 series also includes a centre speaker
which has been developed to deliver a high level of speech intelligibility and which features twin bass/midrange drivers. All of its drivers have full magnetic shielding.
To augment low frequencies, the Quantum 731A subwoofer can be used. It is
equipped with a 12-inch/300 mm long-throw woofer and ventilated voice coil system
for a high power handling. The integral power amplifier can deliver peaks exceeding
350 watts and is equipped with a real-time limiter and active frequency response correction. The subwoofer is designed as a down firing bass reflex system and operates
on a solid, permanently mounted plinth that maintains a precise distance to the chassis & diaphragm to prevent compression effects.
The front panels and plinths of the 750 models have a high gloss finish. The main
cabinets are finished with either a satin lacquer or genuine wood veneer.
The Quantum 750 series are not inexpensive but their true value becomes clear when
one realizes how such an elaborately designed and successful speaker can give the
music and movie lover many hours of relaxation and inspiration.

The new Quantum 670 series represents the latest evolution of the highly regarded
Magnat Quantum 650 range which earned so much approval in both German and
International test reports. Based on a visually and technically successful design, signi
ficant improvements have been achieved in the acoustic dynamics, treble reproduction
and pulse fidelity. The sound stage the speakers present now feels even more spacio
us and lively.
Many of the features of the Quantum 670 series are normally only found in far more
expensive products. Newly developed FE Dynamics chassis frames with exceptionally
stiff & light aluminium/ceramic diaphragms are used for the bass/midrange, which
results in a very precise and dynamic sound. The non-magnetic speaker baskets; manu
factured from carbon fibre-reinforced ABS, have been flow-optimised. The voice coils
have been specified for high power handling and are equipped with an air cooling system
built into the driver chassis. The HRH ("Harmonic Radiation Horn") tweeter first introdu
ced in the earlier range has been further enhanced for the new Quantum 670 series. In
addition to fine tuning the drive unit, a completely new, shallower horn is incorporated.
This new tweeter exhibits a high degree of efficiency and also allows re-engineering of
woofers and subwoofers to give a more dynamic overall sound with more "life-like" qua
lities. The tweeter dome is made of soft artificial silk and features a diaphragm surface
20 percent larger than conventional 1-inch domes.
The completely redesigned level- and phase-optimised crossovers with their 4th order
acoustic slopes are also responsible for a completely rounded and seamless sound
quality. High-quality crossover components, including air cored inductors and film capa
citors, have naturally been accommodated. High purity copper cables from the specia
lists Oehlbach are used for the internal wiring. Large bi-wiring/bi-amping terminals with
gold-plated screw terminals ensure optimum contact. Bass reflex tuning, like the driver
chassis, has been developed with the help of the Klippel® laser measuring system
based on different frequencies and levels. All tubes are flow-optimised (which can be
seen in their trumpet-like shape) and are fitted flush in the cabinet for optimal stability
and efficient coupling. An unusual feature at this price range is represented by the ela
borate cabinet. Thanks to the rounded side panels parasitic standing waves are redu
ced. In addition, numerous internal braces ensure enhanced stability and freedom from
resonance. Solid high-gloss baffles measuring up to 25 mm in thickness guarantee opti
mum operating conditions for the drive units.

Furthermore, the floor-standing speakers and the subwoofer also come with substantial plinths to ensure separation from the floor. All of the speakers are provided with
height-adjustable rubber feet; the floor-standing speakers also coming with metal
spikes. The drivers are protected by a removable but acoustically transparent grille.
The centre speaker and subwoofer have been specially developed for their particular
areas of application. Both the baffle profile and the coordination of the crossover for
the centre speaker have been designed to ensure high speech intelligibility.
The subwoofer, which features "Down Fire" technology, is equipped with a solid plinth
that not only separates it from the floor, but also acts as an acoustic midrange filter.
Of course, the subwoofer features its own adjustable high-power amplifier to ensure
perfect integration with the other speakers in a home cinema system.
The speakers of the Quantum 670 series are not only convincing by virtue of their
numerous technological features. The clean and modern lines and high quality workmanship have also turned a high-tech acoustic product into a fine piece of furniture.

The Vector 200 series has a famous lineage. It is descended from the highly efficient loud
speakers in the original Vector range that were enthusiastically received by fans. The appea
rance of the highly praised Quantum 500 series with its varnished baffles and metal grilles
became a model for subsequent products.
The Vector 200 series was developed using the latest measuring and simulation equipment
with the aim of achieving maximum sound quality combined with the highest levels of efficien
cy thereby allowing the speakers to be used with a wide range of different amplifiers.
The experience gained in creating the Quantum series has contributed to this evolution and
the decision was taken to develop all of the drive units with the aid of our modern measure
ment and simulation technology, the Klippel® system. The FE Dynamics subwoofer and midrange drivers feature lightweight, specially coated paper cones while the non-magnetic, fibrereinforced ABS baskets have been optimised for maximum driver excursion. The finite ele
ment method was used to development the magnetic circuits. Large openings in the basket
along with voice-coil ventilation ensure high thermal resilience. All of these measures result
in a sound which combines exemplary bass power with a natural sounding mid-range.
The F-MAX Super Audio tweeter is equipped with an artificial silk dome and has a specially
shaped tweeter flange that optimises horizontal and vertical dispersion while minimising trou
blesome edge diffraction. The combination of a powerful magnet with the ferro-fluid cooled
voice coil results in a particularly transparent reproduction of high frequencies and makes a
significant contribution to the speakers' exceptional capacity for recreating 3 dimensional
space. An extremely flat frequency response and the correct phase characteristics have been
achieved here, as is the case with all Magnat Quantum crossover networks. The filters ope
rate with an acoustic 24dB slope, which enables a tangible stereo image that is detached
from the enclosures to develop.
The cabinets are built from low-resonance MDF to achieve additional stability while grid-sha
ped internal braces are fitted to reduce panel resonance and standing waves within the cabi
net. The floor standing speakers come with solid plinths. Height-adjustable metal spikes and
rubber feet are included to allow optimal location any type of floor. All Vector 200 models are
designed as bass reflex speakers with the venting properties being coordinated with each
other on the basis of a variety of signal sources as opposed to the more typical development
from a single tone at one level. This ensures that the bass notes produced by different instru
ments at different levels always remain clean.

ker cables may be connected to the bi-wiring/bi-amping terminals. The centre speakers have
been optimised for speech intelligibility to suit the dialogue in movies and have high power hand
ling thanks to their twin bass configuration.
In addition to three traditional floor-standing speakers, two compact speakers and two different
sized centre speakers, two new models have been added to the Vector range of products in
2012: The ultra-slim floor-standing speaker Vector 208 tower and the 111 mm deep Vector 202F

home cinema system.
We recommend that subwoofers from the Betasub or Omega range be used to enhance
high-quality home-cinema systems.

The subwoofers of the Omega series have been created for a wide variety of applications and com
binations. Regardless of whether they are used with compact satellite speakers or to augment
full range floorstanding speakers, the Omega units generate an additional foundation in the bass
range, which really comes into its own in a home cinema system. The Omegas are active speakers
and feature integrated high-power amplifiers. These have been designed to perfectly match the
properties of the woofers but also enable precise adjustment to blend into the location and with
the types of speaker that might accompany them in a home cinema installation. This acoustic
adjustment allows both the level and crossover frequency to be varied as well as offering provisi
on for phase reversal. The amplifiers operate with an LPC circuit for frequency response linearisa
tion and a dynamic RT limiter which reduces distortion and protects the subwoofer from becoming
overloaded. A common feature of all Omegas is the long-throw woofer, which has been specifical
ly designed for the lowest frequency range. Both the woofer and the bass reflex tubes radiate
downwards onto a solid base plate, whose dimensions have been accurately calculated. This con
struction not only enables a very deep, consistent and precise bass delivery throughout the room,
it also functions as an effective mid-range filter and effectively attenuates port flow noise and
unwanted higher frequencies. The solid fascia and base plate have been lacquered in a high gloss
piano finish to visually enhance the elaborate technical configuration.

In the software business one refers to a „Beta-version" as a program still in the
development and test phase, however, from the 'Betasub' series one can justifiably
claim that it is not only mature, as shown by numerous comparative test victories,
but also a near perfect Active Subwoofer. Each of the three models is equipped with
a custom designed long throw bass driver (200, 250 or 300mm) and a high perform
ance amplifier. The screw mounted Airflex bass reflex ports allow for clean extend
ed bass performance.
The output level and roll off frequency are adjustable. This impressively elegant sub
woofer is available in different finishes: black, silver (Betasub 20A), and the mocca
finish of the Betasub 25A. The mocca as well as the black versions fit perfect to
the Vector 200 speaker series.
The low frequency output descends to a magnificent 18 Hz at which point the RT
limiter and LPC technology are utilized to linearise the response on all of the
Betasubs. Rubber feet minimize annoying floor resonances.

Modern flat-screen televisions are successfully delivering ever larger and more perfect pictures.
Sadly their capabilities in reproducing convincing sound are less advanced because the shallower
screens don't allow for serious speakers to be included. Speech intelligibility and sound effects
make an increasingly important contribution to genuine film enjoyment but home cinema fans are
frequently forced to combine these great video systems with an overly large and complex audio
system.
Magnat comes up with a great sounding alternative to the typical fully active plug-and-play surround
solution - the WSB Soundbar system is equipped with a sophisticated decoder in Dolby technology
and optical digital input. It uses the same basic configuration consisting of just one Soundbar spea
ker and the wireless sub-woofer - which may be placed anywhere in the room. The WSB 50 system
provides effective surround sound from just one space-saving box. However, there's more to this box
than meets the eye: a total of six loudspeakers, including a genuine tweeter dome, are powered by
amplifiers that deliver a total performance of 50 watts. Just connect it to an existing DVD player or
TV for instant pleasure.
The integrated Dolby surround decoder processes the incoming signals and then passes them on to
the actively controlled loudspeaker. After their delay & output levels have been set, the signals from
the two rear channels are added to the front channels to produce an all encompassing sound via
precisely calculated angles of dispersion and reflection, a feat that can only usually be achieved with
five discrete speakers. Furthermore, users may then choose between a more direct sound or the par
ticularly spatial "3D" setting. Deep bass is delivered by an 250-watt wireless active sub-woofer with
25-cm bass driver. This increases the WSB 50's overall system performance to 450 watts. These
reflex loaded sub-woofers feature the uncompromising 'down firing' bass alignment used in Magnat's
highest quality subwoofers. The WSB subwoofers may be positioned anywhere in the room but they
are actually too good looking to hide. The quality and clear language of design will convince even the
most fastidious living-room aesthetes and not in the least by the very elegant-looking front in piano
finish. The remote control allows the system to be fully controlled from the comfort of the sofa. The
display shows the currently selected function. A variety of cables for simple connection to the TV and
a practical system for fastening the Soundbar to the wall are also included. Additional Dolby deco
ders, a digital input, twice the amplifier capability (compared with the smaller model) and a large-for
mat subwoofer with 25-cm long-throw drivers help to create a genuine cinema experience that will
satisfy the listeners' most exacting requirements even in larger rooms.

modern TVs. Some people even think that our Soundbar products are visually too intrusive.
To this end Magnat has now come up with a solution for such customers - a solution that can be
almost entirely concealed.
The Magnat Cinema 2.1 VA is a fully powered set of active loudspeakers comprising two tiny satel
lite boxes and a subwoofer that may be discreetly located while still delivering the fullest, deepest
and most dynamic sound. Its benefit over the Soundbar system is that the stereo satellite spea
kers may be placed anywhere in the room. This means that users are then not only able to put
the speakers in a visually discreet location but they are also able to perfectly adapt the depth and
breadth of the sound to their personal taste by tilting the boxes. Connecting the system to the
television with the included cinch cables is child's play. The entire system can be set up and made
ready for immediate use in just a few simple steps. The system also includes a remote control
with a receiver module that may also be positioned anywhere, loudspeaker feet to tilt the satelli
tes when they're positioned close to the listeners, comprehensive wall mounting hardware and a
complete set of cables.
About the technology: the satellites employ a two-way design with separate dome tweeters in a
space-saving coaxial unit. The subwoofer has a long-throw 20-cm bass driver that utilises the
"Down Firing" technology. Its cabinet is machined from solid MDF while three (!) amplifiers with
a total instantaneous power of 240 watts are used to drive the system. The use of high-quality
materials and the exquisite piano finish make this system particularly desirable. An additional tip:
the fully-active technology, which allows the system to be installed almost anywhere along with the
variation in performance created by the ability to freely position the speakers, also makes the
Magnat Cinema 2. 1 VA a genuinely high-end solution for use with home-studio mixing desks,
game consoles, computers and portable audio/video equipment.

The new sub/satellite Interior 5000-Xl and 500-Xl systems are based on the preceding Interior
Cinema 5001 and 501 models. Both active Home Cinema 5.1 systems have been significantly
enhanced and improved in the high/midrange. Surround sound enthusiasts will still be impressed
by their compact dimensions, elegant appearance and a wide range of potential applications. But
more important than this is the sound quality. This clear priority has not changed for the new 2012
edition. The 2-way technology, i.e. a separate bass-midrange speaker and tweeter, is still a common
feature shared by all of the range. For the new 5000-Xl and 500-Xl systems however, both driver
types have been technically improved to achieve an extremely harmonic transition across the critical
mid/treble range. The systems therefore offer a perfectly seamless transition between mid and high,
which plays such a key role in a believable home cinema experience. The new Interior Cinema
systems are ideally suited for the contrasting demands of highly intelligible speech, precise location
of effects and the emotional impact of soundtracks. The cones are manufactured from coated, longfibre paper. The crossover networks used are both level and phase-optimised. The solid panels
manufactured from fibre-reinforced ABS, are rigidly screwed together. All of the satellite and centre
speakers are equipped with a precisely calculated bass reflex port to ensure pressure equalisation
behind the main driver and extend the lower frequency response.
Active subwoofers, i.e. subwoofers equipped with an inbuilt amplifier and bass reflex loaded drive
unit, are used to reproduce the lowest notes. The drivers used are again of a long-throw design with
steel chassis and stiffened paper cones. The amplifiers have been accurately matched to the cabi
nets & drivers with regard to power and configuration. The enclosures for the subwoofers are manu
factured from substantial MDF panels and stand on solid rubber feet to limit energy transfer into
resonant floors. The flagship is the Magnat Interior 5000-Xl system. This comprises 4 satellites, a
dedicated centre speaker and a subwoofer with a 200 mm driver. All of the enclosures for the satel
lite and centre speakers, as well as the solid front panel of the subwoofer, are finished in a highgloss piano black or piano white. The speakers are supplied with five bases for shelf installation
which can be used to adjust the vertical angle of the speakers, as well as five wall mounting brackets
that allow for individual horizontal adjustment when the speakers are used in this way. The Magnat
Interior 500-Xl system has also been designed for 5.1 home cinema use. It has the same centre
and satellite configuration as the 5000-Xl system and it is available in a Black Silk finish. The sub
woofer is very compact and is equipped with a 175 mm driver. Three shelf mounting bases and two
wall mounting brackets are included with the package.

Aluminium is a material that has always exuded that certain „cool touch", regardless of its form.
As cladding for a skyscraper or the outer skin of a race car, Magnat's Needle Alu Super range
proves that, apart from looking great, aluminium can also sound extremely good. The loudspeak
er enclosures are made from thick-walled continuous-cast aluminium and accommodate up to four
70 mm woofers/subwoofers and one 13 mm PC tweeter dome each. The low midrange drivers
operate with specially hardened cellulose cones and low-distortion suspension, which prevents
the cone from wobbling at high volumes. That can be quite a lot - 90 dB measured according to
the DIN standard (1 watt/meter) is certainly enough for a party. However, if it does get a bit too
lively sometimes, the elaborate crossover will prevent damage to the loudspeaker units. To guar
antee optimum performance when employed as a front tower, a centre or indeed a satellite for
home cinema use, all the loudspeakers are magnetically screened.
The different models in the range can, of course, be combined at will. We recommend the combi
nation with the powered subwoofer of the Betasub-series which extends the sound downwards. In
keeping with the ongoing trend in entertainment electronics to black the entire Needle Alu Super
range is also available in black anodized aluminium.

Originating in the professional sound sector, multi-functional speakers have become an alterna
tive to conventional stereo speakers. Magnat's Interior Pro 130 speaker has also been desi
gned for a wide variety of applications.
Its distinguishing features are the robustness of its design, durability, a dynamic open sound
and very compact dimensions. The fibre-reinforced polymer enclosure is able to withstand
adverse conditions and is equipped with rubber edge reinforcement for additional protection. It
is also protected from splashing water through the use of an aluminium grille. It can be opera
ted both horizontally and vertically, and the standard size screw nut at the rear ensures com
patibility with a wide variety of freely available wall mounting systems.
The Interior Pro 130 can serve the worlds of both domestic & commercial music replay through
its accomplished technical and acoustic performance. The 13 cm woofer with its sturdy polypropylene cone delivers a fresh, clear and powerful sound in combination with the polycarbonate dome tweeter and bass reflex loading system. The 2-way crossover ensures seamless inte
gration between the bass and treble and is designed for continuous operation. Whether in a
living room or party room, a shop or restaurant, Magnat's Interior Pro 130 is persuasive in all
situations.

High transparency even in difficult

3 | Only 6.5 mm thick: The aluminium
grille of the Quantum Interior series
Many audiophiles want an in-wall/in-ceiling series offering the same performance as
Magnat's top Quantum home speaker series. At Magnat, Quantum represents for the
highest possible standards of sound quality and the technical complexity it requires.
Like their prestigious big brothers, the Interior Quantum models are also manufactu
red with low-midrange cones made of highly stiff & stable anodised alumini
um/ceramic. This material provides extremely accurate reproduction and allows even
the finest acoustic details to be revealed. To match those qualities carefully desi
gned, specially coated fabric dome tweeters are used. They deliver incredibly faithful
transient response without distortion effects. Because installation situations can dif
fer significantly, the tweeters can be swivel-mounted.
The special ICQ 262 model has two angularly disposed tweeters and 3-way treble
level adjustment and allows both mono and stereo operation thanks to the dual voice
coil and switch. Cascading also is possible. For the models with a tweeter, the woo
fer can also be adjusted 3 ways in the midrange. These options serve to allow the
performance to be optimized even in large, extremely open spaces. The adjustment
is made on the front and can therefore be carried out after installation.
These systems are even suitable for use in humid rooms such as the bathroom, and
installation is very easy using a rugged clamping mechanism.

cabinet frame can be lacquered
Many people wish to have music within particular rooms in the home but without the intrusive
cabinets that might compromise the appearance and atmosphere of those areas. Now thanks
to the Magnat INWALL and INCEILING Series of Interior speakers it is possible to fulfil those
wishes.
The flush-fitting loudspeakers in the Interior range are a quite new development for Magnat.
These sound transducers can be fitted directly in the wall or ceiling and do not need any
enclosure of their own, thus providing a virtually invisible sound experience. The Interior Line
sets new quality standards in its sector. All the woofers have cones made from a weave of car
bon and fibre-glass strands. This blend of materials has an extremely high degree of stiffness
and durability and is otherwise used in the production of bullet-proof vests.

Sonically, a very clear and dynamic sound is produced. The tweeter of the In-Wall models is a
24 mm dome, which can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically, enabling the sound
dispersion to be optimised even in very difficult spatial conditions. The In-Ceiling loudspeakers
have two coaxial inbuilt tweeters for wider dispersion. Flush mounted installation within walls
and ceilings is simplified considerably by an ingenious clamping system. The cable connectors
are solid, gold-plated binding posts which ensure a reliable contact is preserved even over many
years of use.

lity, built-in speakers for the living area. The technical design of the series is based on
the high-quality Interior series and represents the new Upgrade series in the in-wall/inceiling range.
The appeal of these products is in the fact that a virtually invisible sound is achieved
through installation of the speakers in the ceiling or wall. In combination with the outstan
ding technical developments of Magnat's engineers, an entirely new range of products
are being made available to those customers who attach great importance to living room
aesthetics and quality sound.
The woofers of the series have an extremely rugged polypropylene cone, which can also
handle above-average cone excursions over a longer period of time due to the long-throw
rubber surround. All in-wall models are equipped with a generous 25 mm PET tweeter
whereas the somewhat smaller in-ceiling systems have a 19 mm version. Since the use
of built-in speakers usually means highly customized installation scenarios, these pro
ducts must deliver a high degree of flexibility to the installation. Thanks to Magnat's swi
vel technology, the tweeters of the models (except ICP 262) can be pivoted in all directi
ons up to 35°. As a result, almost all installations can be aligned seamlessly.

The ICP 262 has a special place in the Interior Performance series. It has two tweeters
arranged at a fixed angle and 3-way treble level adjustment. Thanks to its dual voice coil,
the ICP 262 can run in both mono and stereo mode. Also the coated surface of the diaphragm and the high-quality components it incorporates means that installation in humid
areas such as in a bathroom or near a swimming pool is not a problem. In addition, instal
lation with the help of the rugged clamping mechanism is really easy.

Domes made from precision fabric
are employed in the Quantum 1 0 0 0
and 8 0 0 series. These domes have
been hand-coated with ceramic par
ticles and possess a double venti
lation feature to ensure perfectly
symmetrical movement while a particularly wide surround has been
employed to optimize dispersion at frequencies exceeding 20 kHz.
The abbreviation stands for "Harmonic
Radiation Horn" which describes the
acoustic function of the tweeter's profi
le. Thanks to its special shape; initially
simulated on a computer and then opti
mised through numerous measure
ment and listening tests, its dispersion properties perfectly match those of the
bass/midrange driver. This technology ensures a particularly smooth transition in
the critical upper mid-range which is where the integration between the cone driver
and dome tweeter occurs.

Coil Ventilation System: the integrated moving coil ventilation increases the

thermal load capacity, thus ensuring precise sound reproduction, even at high
loads.

ЛРОС
The F-MAX Super Audio tweeter, which is equipped with
an artificial silk dome, has a specially sculpted tweeter
flange that optimises horizontal and vertical radiation
and reduces interference from edge reflections. The
combination of the powerful magnet and a ferro-fluid cooled voice coil
results in a particularly transparent reproduction of the high frequencies,
which in turn allows for the placement of highly realistic images within the
3 dimensional space captured in a recording.
APOC = Amplitude and Phase Optimized Crossover:
the amplitude and phase-optimised frequency
crossover is responsible for discoloration-free and
real-time reproduction.

Dynamics Driver
The ceramic/aluminium cone with a
newly developed profile has been hou
sed
inside
a ventilated, lowresonance, die-cast aluminium basket.
The driver features shorting rings and
its stray field has been optimized. The
cone behaves as a piston at lower fre
quency ranges and as a controlled wave projector towards the crossover point
giving perfect transmission of both the bass and mid-range information.
