The Panametrics Model 25DL-HP Ultrasonic
Thickness Gauge is uniquely designed for materials such as fiberglass, composites, rubber, and castings that are difficult or impossible to measure using standard ultrasonic thickness gages. Its low frequency capability and high penetration (HP) electronics offers unmatched penetration in these materials which tend to scatter and absorb ultrasound energy due to conditions such as grain structure and internal fibers.

CASTING APPLICATIONS
Quality control departments that use the 25DL-HP do not have to destroy expensive castings because there is no need to reach the opposite or inside surface of cast valves, cylinder bores, tire molds, hoist drums, brake cylinders, rollers, housings, and other parts. The 25DL-HP's unique combination of high penetration (HP) electronics and low frequency capability offers unmatched ultrasound penetration in coarse grained castings that are often difficult to inspect with standard ultrasonic thickness gages.
The 25DL-HP can be used with a variety of contact and delay line transducers to measure castings of many sizes and geometries. In cylinder bore applications, for example, the 25DL-HP is used with a cylindrically curved delay line tip to match the inside radius of the bore. The
25DL-HP has a measurement range from 0.040" to 20" (1-500mm) in various cast materials such as carbon steel, cast iron, ductile iron, aluminum, copper-based, and investment cast.
The 25DL-HP is also ideally suited to make material sound velocity measurements that can be used to monitor the degree of nodularity. Used with the gauge's Differential Mode, variations in sound velocity will be displayed as the difference between a measurement and a programmed reference value.

RUBBER APPLICATION

The 25DL-HP can be used with a variety of contact, delay line, and immersion transducers to measure fiberglass parts of many sizes and geometries. Boat manufacturers and marine surveyors can obtain accurate hull thickness measurements with no need to drill holes.
Other applications include thickness measurements of fiberglass pipes, plates, and storage tanks.
