Always respect the following implicitly: ! The operation of kitchens and kitchen exhaust air equipment must only be performed with FRANKE - aerosol filters, see Figure 2a, page 5 inserted in the fume extraction hood. The UVC system must be switched off before the filters are removed from the hood! Attention: ! Attention: In the absence of protection, UVC light is hazardous to humans (to eyes and skin). Before opening the equipment, which also includes removing the aerosol filters (FRANKE filters, see Figure 2a, page 5), the UVC system must in all cases be switched off manually via the switch (see Figure 2, "C"). Warning! ! If the blue UVC light becomes visible from the outside, the UVC system must be switched off immediately. Please inform your service company. Attention! Ozone is hazardous to the respiratory tract. ! Therefore, affix warning signs to the exhaust air appliance, inspection aperture and exhaust air outlets in the roof area, which refer to the fact that the exhaust air contains ozone. ! Independent troubleshooting / repair work and intervention into the equipment invalidates the warranty in all cases. ! If a protection tube or UVC lamp breaks, you must follow the instructions in Chapter 4.1. ! 2 Warning! Warning ! The differential pressure monitors are equipped with a seal. If this seal is broken, all warranties and liabilities are void. USA UVC-System Instruction manual Functional principle Whenever any cooking or frying is done, organic matter is deposited in the exhaust air systems. The highly efficient and effective UVC lamps "F" (see Fig. 1. Page 4) in our UVC system see to it that this fat-contaminated kitchen air is processed without any problems. Cleaned exhaust air towards the outside Fat deposits and their associated adverse effects are thus largely prevented. Basic design What happens in the UVC system when the fatty kitchen exhaust air is treated? As in nature, the UVC system uses UV-C-light to bring about oxidation processes which split the C atoms in the fat molecules in the exhaust air. Thus, in a reaction with the fatty kitchen exhaust air, basically the same reaction occurs as during combustion, the difference being that in this case the O atom of the atmospheric oxygen, the oxidation partner, does not need to be released from the relatively stable bonding in the oxygen molecule by means of high temperatures, but rather is available for the reaction under normal ambient conditions. Ozone is produced, which has the advantage of not being able to form organochlorine bonds due to the structure of its oxygen atoms. A permanent breakdown of the kitchen exhaust air occurs, which contains organic contaminants and particles containing harmful chemicals. UVC housing Stainless-steel housing as the reaction chamber. We therefore recommend performing this work according to predetermined checklists: A. Checklist for preventive maintenance of the UVC system. By the owners / operators themselves. B. Checklist for maintenance / servicing. By an authorized technical / service company. THE SAFETY AND FUNCTIONALITY OF THE UVC SYSTEM MUST BE CHECKED EVERY 6 MONTHS BY AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE COMPANY. 5.1 Regular cleaning ! The appliance must only be cleaned when it is switched off. ! Clean the stainless-steel surfaces with a damp cloth (using lukewarm water and neutral soap), ! ! ! ! then wipe with clean water and dry carefully. Do not use sponges or water jets. When cleaning stainless steel, do not use scouring cleansing agents or steel wool, brushes or scrapers, since iron-containing residues may lead to rust formation. The UVC protective tubes must be cleaned regularly. The cycle depends on the usage pattern of the kitchen. For a standard kitchen, the following cleaning cycle can be assumed: Frying pans station 1x per week Grill station every other day The protective tubes are cleaned in their fitted state. ? ? ! ! Warning! Please handle the protective tubes with care. In no circumstances must you cling onto or support yourself on the protective tubes, otherwise they will break. ? For a normal level of dirt, spray a generous amount of glass-cleaning fluid into the ? ? ? ? 14 protective tubes and rub them with a paper towel (napkin) until dry. Use a new paper towel for each tube. If fat residues are still visible on the towel after cleaning, the cleaning must be repeated. In the case of burnt-in dirt, a white Scotch pad with glass-cleaning fluid can be used. Spray a generous amount of glass-cleaning fluid into the Scotch pad and scrub the protective tube clean. The Scotch pad will become dirty after a few minutes, but can be washed out under USA UVC-System Instruction manual running water. Once the burnt-in dirt has been removed, clean the tubes with glasscleaning fluid and a cloth as described above. ! The mesh filters "M" in the UVC system must be cleaned in the same time cycle as the UVC protective tubes. Pull the mesh filters out of the UVC system. The filters can be rinsed out in the dishwasher or with a spray nozzle and hot water. Attention: The filters must be dry when they are reinserted! See also the picture instructions and video. ? ? ? ? i ? Regular thorough cleaning of the mesh filters makes it easier to clean the UVC protective tubes. ! ! Attention! Frequently asked questions
The UVC system uses UV-C-light to oxidize and split fat molecules in the kitchen exhaust air, reducing fat deposits and associated adverse effects.
Spray a generous amount of glass-cleaning fluid into the protective tubes and rub them with a paper towel until dry. Repeat if necessary. For burnt-in dirt, use a white Scotch pad with glass-cleaning fluid.
After approximately 8,000 hours, the control will indicate "Maintenance required: Call service." The lamps should be replaced by an authorized service company.
The mesh filters must be cleaned in the same time cycle as the UVC protective tubes. This depends on the usage pattern of the kitchen, but a standard kitchen can assume a cycle of 1x per week for frying pans and every other day for grills.
Never look at the UVC light. The UVC system must be switched off before removing the Franke aerosol filters or mesh filters. Maintenance work must only be performed by authorized technical personnel.
