A. System Requirements
•
A computer with a 400MHz processor (at least)
•
128MB RAM
•
Sound card
•
PSTN phone (cord or cordless)
•
Connection to the internet - 33.6Kbps (at least)
•
Any VoIP software. It is possible to download free VoIP software from such sites as:

B. Installation
Please relate to the installation drawing in Fig.3
Required steps:
1. Plug the phone cord (4) to the line socket
2. Connect the phone unit to the RJ-11 socket (2)
3. Connect the audio cords (3) to the computer’s sound card according to the signs
imprinted on the jacks ( Microphone , Speaker )
4. Plug the 12VDC / 400mA power adapter to the DC power input on the GW-1 (1)
5. Connect the power adapter to the electricity network.
Optional steps:
1. Connect the external speaker jack to the GW-1’s
socket.
2. Connect the external microphone to the GW-1’s
socket.
3. Following the above instructions, the Green LED should be turned ON and the unit should be
ready.

GW-1 Operating Instructions
Please relate to Fig. 4.
The GW-1 uses a press button selector (9) to switch the Phone to either the phone Line or the
PC. The front panel of the GW-1 has two LEDs; the Green LED (8) indicates that the phone line
is selected while the Yellow LED (7) indicates that the IP line is selected. In addition to the
indication LEDs the GW-1 also gives an audio indication (a weak Frr Frr tone) when a phone call
enters while an IP call is active.

By clicking this switch once or twice (a double click like in a PC mouse) the following actions are
activated:
•ONE CLICK - the phone is togelled between the phone line and the PC. The GREEN
or the YELLOW LEDs are turned on to indicate the selected GW-1 state.
•DOUBLE CLICK - the phone is togelled between the phone line and the PC, but the
previous call is left on Hold. The selected state LED is turned on, while the other
LED is flashing (to indicate the hold status).
The default state of the device is “phone LINE connection” that is indicated by the GREEN
indication light. The system enters its default state when connected to the supply power or when
the phone line is disconnected (after a flash or hangup)
A detailed description of how to activate GW-1, apeares below followed by a summary table.
Line state (“Phone mode” - defualt state)
•The PC is connected to its Loudspeakers and Microphone (if they are installed).
•The Phone is connected to the phone line. Green LED is turned ON.
•The user can use the phone to get and answer normal phone calls.
•Incoming line calls will ring the phone.
•Incoming PC calls will ring through the external loudspeakers or the internal GW-1
loudspeker (in case the external loudspeakers are not installed).
•After hanging up the GW-1 returns to its default state (awaits a phone call)

Initiate or answer a PC call
To Initiate or answer the call using the PC call program:
•CLICK the switch on the GW-1 to switch it to the PC-Call. The Yellow LED is turned
ON and the Green LED is turned OFF.
•During a PC call, any incoming Line call will signal the user by a activating Waiting
Call tone, and flashing the Green LED.
•When the call is finished and the handset is on hook, GW-1 is automatically switched
back to the Line state and the Green LED is turned ON.
Initiate or answer a Phone call during a PC call
To initiate or answer a phone call during a PC call do the following:
•DOUBLE CLICK the switch on GW-1. GW-1 is switched to the Line, the
loudspeakers and microphone are muted and the PC call is on Hold. The Green LED
is turned ON and the Yellow LED is flashing (to indicate the PC call on Hold).
•To go back to the PC call, CLICK or DOUBLE CLICK the switch on GW-1. GW-1 is
switched to the PC call. The Yellow LED is turned ON.
•In case of CLICK the line call is disconnected and the Green LED is turned OFF.
•In case of DOUBLE CLICK the line is left on Hold and the Green LED is flashing (to
indicate the line call on Hold).
Initiate or answer a PC call during a Line call
To initiate or answer a PC call during a line call do the following:
•CLICK or DOUBLE CLICK the switch on GW-1. GW-1 is switched to the PC call.
The Yellow LED is turned ON.
•In case of CLICK the line call is disconnected and the Green LED is turned OFF.
•In case of DOUBLE CLICK the line is left on Hold and the Green LED is flashing (to
indicate the line call on Hold).
Volume control
In case the volume is low. Adjust the volume controls in the PC’s control pannel.
