1 Introduction
This document describes the Installation of the USB to Serial Port Emulation driver for Windows. As this feature is
based on WINDOWS components, the views during the installation and the installation process may defer from
this guideline.

2 USB Installation

Remark
Do not yet connect your ANTARIS USB GPS receiver
(e.g. ANTARIS AEK-4H/ AEK-4P or any LEA-4x
receiver) to your computer.
If you have connected, please remove it from your
PC.
Run setup.bat in root directory

LibUSB-Win32 setup started. Press <NEXT>.

Read License Agreement and press <I agree>, if you
agree.

There are different component, which can be
installed. For the AEK-4H and AEK-4P only drivers are
needed.
Select driver (only) and press <Next>.

Choose destination directory and press <Install> to
start installation.

Wait until installation is completed and press
<Next>.

LibUsb-Win32 Installation completed. Press <Finish>
to close this window.
If you run rest program, you will see all connected
USB devices. As the ANTARIS GPS receiver is not
installed yet, you won’t see it in the list of USB
devices.
You will find the test program as well under LibUsbWin32 in your Windows Start folder. You may run it
if the ANTARIS GPS receiver is completely installed.

In the second stage the ANTARIS USB interface will
be installed.
Now, connect your ANTARIS USB GPS receiver.

Select Install software automatically and press
<NEXT> to install the USB driver.
If you have stored the drivers on your hard disk, give
specific location of the driver.
If you don’t have any driver, contact u-blox support
at support@u-blox.com

WINDOWS is detecting the USB driver.

Press <Continue Anyway>!
If you erroneously hit <STOP Installation>, you will
have to manually assign the driver by opening the
device manager (hit windows-key & pause, ->
Hardware, -> Device Manager), right-clicking the
device and select “Update Driver…” from the
contextual menu.

WINDOWS is installing the USB driver. This may take
several minutes.

The USB driver is successfully installed. If the
installation fails at the first time, restart with step 10.

Installation successfully completed.
If the assigned COM port number assigned is not
convenient:
1. Open the WINDOWS Device Manager
a. Press <á-Pause> Key
b. Select ‘Hardware’
c. Select ‘Device Manager’
2. Select ‘Ports (Com & LPT)’
3. Select ‘u-blox ANTARIS(r) 4 - …’ Device
4. Open properties dialog of the USB driver
5. To change assign COM port number hit the
“Advanced Button” in “Port Settings”
Install newest u-center from your CD and enjoy your
ANTARIS®4 GPS receiver.

3 Possible Errors
•
No serial port mapped to receiver, device manager says that the device is not working properly
Æ is usbser.sys present? If not, get it from somewhere (according to MS, it should be included in all
windows versions above 98 SE) and copy it to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers
•
If ANTARIS® GPS firmware upgrade is stopped during download or not successful. The receiver has to be set
in to BOOTMODE (by connecting VCC(PIN6) and BOOTINT(PIN12) on LEA-4x), while power up. Afterwards
redo firmware upgrade.
