PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Si2433 and Si2414 are complete 2-chip 33,600 and 14,400 bps modems,
respectively, with an integrated direct access arrangement (DAA) that provides a
programmable interface to meet global telephone line requirements. Available
in two small outline packages, these highly integrated solutions eliminate the need
the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and include V.42 and V.42bis onchip. The ISOmodems also feature parallel phone detection to monitor the
telephone line status to avoid interrupting active calls and to release the line when a
telephone goes off-hook. The devices are ideal for embedded modem applications
due to the simple host interface, small board space requirements, low power
consumption and global compliance.

Integrated: The high integration of the
ISOmodem eliminates the need for a
separate datapump, controller, transformer,
relay, dual op amp, codec and optoisolators, saving more than 75% in board
space over a discrete modem solution.
Silicon Labs’ patented ISOcap architecture
also enables advanced modem features
such as caller ID and parallel phone detect
with no additional components or cost.
Simple: With today’s rapidly shrinking
design cycles, Silicon Labs has designed the
ISOmodem with a parallel interface and a
serial UART, providing AT command
support. By including the datapump
controller, error correction and data
compression on a single device, software
development is reduced to a fraction of the
time required in a typical controllerless
solution. This allows system designers to
quickly and easily incorporate the
ISOmodem into their products.

ISOCAP GLOBAL DAA TECHNOLOGY
Incorporating the same ISOcap technology as the Silicon Laboratories Si2400
and Si3044 international DAA chipsets, the Si2433 and Si2414 ISOmodems
provide a modem plus DAA solution that can ship globally with a single PCB board
design. ISOcap transfers both modem data and control signals across a capacitive
isolation barrier in a digital format. This approach provides high immunity to
interference noise, and a high level of programmability to meet global PTT
requirements. Silicon Laboratories’ global DAAs are proven to meet and exceed
worldwide analog telecommunications, emissions and immunity, safety and
surge requirements.
