Contact qualified Yamaha service personnel when any service is needed. The cabinet should never be opened for any reasons. 15 When not planning to use this unit for long periods of time (i.e. vacation), disconnect the AC power plug from the wall outlet. 16 Be sure to refer to the “Troubleshooting” section for common operating errors before concluding that this unit is faulty. 17 Before moving this unit, press A to set it to standby mode and disconnect the AC power plug from the wall outlet. i En 18 Condensation will form when the surrounding temperature changes suddenly. Disconnect the power cable from the outlet, then leave this unit alone. 19 When using this unit for a long time, this unit may become warm. Turn the power off, then leave this unit alone for cooling. 20 Install this unit near the AC outlet and where the AC power plug can be reached easily. 21 The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fi re or the like. When you dispose of batteries, follow your regional regulations. 22 Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss. WARNING TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS UNIT TO RAIN OR MOISTURE. This unit is not disconnected from the AC power source as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if this unit itself is turned off by A. This state is called the standby mode. In this state, this unit is designed to consume a very small quantity of power. Radio waves may affect electro-medical devices. Do not use this unit near medical devices or inside medical facilities. Do not use this unit within 22 cm (9 inches) of persons with a heart pacemaker implant or defibrillator implant. ■ Notes on remote controls and batteries • • • • • • • • • Do not spill water or other liquids on the remote control. Do not drop the remote control. Do not leave or store the remote control in the following conditions: – places of high humidity, such as near a bath – places of high temperatures, such as near a heater or stove – places of extremely low temperatures – dusty places Insert the battery according to the polarity markings (+ and -). Change all batteries if you notice the following condition: – the operation range of the remote control narrows If the batteries run out, immediately remove them from the remote control to prevent an explosion or acid leak. If you fi nd leaking batteries, discard the batteries immediately, taking care not to touch the leaked material. If the leaked material comes into contact with your skin or gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse it away immediately and consult a doctor. Clean the battery compartment thoroughly before installing new batteries. Do not use old batteries together with new ones. This may shorten the life of the new batteries or cause old batteries to leak. Do not use different types of batteries (such as alkaline and manganese batteries) together. Specification of batteries may be different even though they look the same. Danger of explosion may happen if batteries are incorrectly replaced. • • • • • Before inserting new batteries, wipe the compartment clean. The user shall not reverse engineer, decompile, alter, translate or disassemble the software used in this unit, whether in part or in whole. For corporate users, employees of the corporation itself as well as its business partners shall observe the contractual bans stipulated within this clause. If the stipulations of this clause and this contract cannot be observed, the user shall immediately discontinue using the software. LASER SAFETY This unit employs a laser. Handling Bluetooth communications • • • The 2.4 GHz band used by Bluetooth compatible devices is a radio band shared by many types of equipment. While Bluetooth compatible devices use a technology minimizing the influence of other components using the same radio band, such influence may reduce the speed or distance of communications and in some cases interrupt communications. The speed of signal transfer and the distance at which communication is possible differs according to the distance between the communicating devices, the presence of obstacles, radio wave conditions and the type of equipment. En 1 PREPARATION ◆ Connecting speakers Supplied antenna Speakers and speaker cables are not included with this unit. If connecting a subwoofer, connect one with a built-in amplifier to the [SUBWOOFER] on the rear panel. Secure using pins CAUTION Use speakers with an impedance of at least 6 Ω. 1 2 Right speaker Remove the insulation from the ends of the speaker cables to expose the bare wires. Connect the speakers to the unit as shown in the figure at left. 15 mm (5/8 in.) Ensure that the left and right speakers are connected to the left and right (L, R) jacks respectively, and that the polarity of the wires is correct (red: +, black: –). Left speaker Be careful not to allow the right and left bare speaker wires to touch CAUTION each other or other metal parts. Doing so could damage this unit and the speakers. Secure it with pins or other supports in the location with best reception. ◆ Turning on the power After all the connections are completed, turn on the power. Plug the power cable into a power outlet, and press . CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK Connect this unit to the same home network as your mobile devices. Perform the preparation shown below. Connecting to a wireless network Raise the wireless antenna on the rear panel. Connecting to a wired network Connect using a commercially available network cable (CAT-5 or higher straight cable). This app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play. Start “MusicCast CONTROLLER” and tap “Setup”. Follow the app’s instructions. Long press [CONNECT] for about 5 seconds. The Wi-Fi indicator starts flashing. Configure the settings by following the app’s instructions. En 3 LISTENING TO MUSIC ◆ NET This enables you to listen to Internet radio or play music files stored on your PC or server over your network connection. To play back music files stored on your PC or server, music file settings must be shared with this unit. Play back songs with the iPhone/ iTunes. ◆ BLUETOOTH 1 2 3 Disconnecting a Bluetooth device A Bluetooth device can be disconnected using the methods below. • Perform a disconnect operation using the Bluetooth device. • Switch the unit to another source or set its power to standby. Wi-Fi BLUETOOTH BLUETOOTH Press [BLUETOOTH]. Note ------- Select this unit in the Bluetooth settings of your device. Play back music using your Bluetooth device. Once connected, the Bluetooth indicator lights up. • If you are asked for a passkey, enter the number “0000.” • If a Bluetooth device that was previously connected is near this unit, press [BLUETOOTH] to search for the device and connect to it. (The Bluetooth setting of the Bluetooth device must be set to ON.) ◆ AUX CAUTION Before connecting, unplug the power cable from the outlet, and lower the volume level on both this unit and the external device. 1 2 AUX Stereo pin cable (RCA connector) 3.5 mm stereo mini-plug cable Press [AUX]. Play back the connected external device. Connect the external device to this unit before switching to the AUX input source. The cables are not included with this unit. Note • If the signal reception is poor, press ◀/▶ repeatedly to select the station manually. ◆ Listening to DAB stations (CRX-N470D only) Initial scan TUNER 3 When scanning is complete, the number of receivable DAB stations is shown on the front panel display momentarily. Press [TUNER] repeatedly to select [DAB]. Initial scan starts automatically when you select [DAB] for the first time. Tuning in DAB stations 1 2 TUNER 3 Press [TUNER] repeatedly to select [DAB]. Press ◀/▶ to select a DAB station. ◆ Presetting to FAVORITES Preset your favorite tracks or stations to the FAVORITES buttons (A to C) to easily play them back again in the future. 1 2 Presetting Playback Depending on the source of the preset content, the unit performs one of the actions explained below. FAVORITES A B C Press and hold FAVORITES A B C PC (Server), Internet Radio, USB, CD, FM Radio Station, DAB Station (CRXN470D only): Playback of the track or station begins. AirPlay, Bluetooth, AUX: Press and hold one of the FAVORITES buttons during playback to preset the content to that button. Press the FAVORITES button to which the track or station is preset.
